More likely Ultra Rare considering it's from an actual raid boss. The point of this post is to shed some light on how rare it actually is. This post is pretty much directed to the TLP servers and people wanting this item whose guild is currently farming Vulak. Yes, RNG is RNG I get this, but this item is still incredibly rare, and the drop-rate is not in your favor.

That being said it's probably the single most powerful item in the Velious expansion, by a wide margin. I can't think of anything until PoTime that comes close to as useful. Even those are quickly outdated by AA's in the 70's. Ossein of Limitless Time, Time's Antithesis, Veil of Lost Hopes, etc... Does this justify its rarity? I don't know, perhaps. This item won't be banked on a Necromancer until level 100, the other three classes will never bank this item. It only removes buffs and ignore de-buffs and detrimental status like dots. Not to mention you can click it from a bag. It's stupid powerful.

Story time.

My quest for this item started back in 2009, made a few runs for it and it never dropped. I figured I was just unlucky, how naive I was. I then went AFK to do some stuff for about 10 years. Fast-forward to 2020 and the quest for this item start anew, but on the Test server. I migrated my toons to Test and me and an old EQ buddy started fresh toons over there from scratch going through all the content in the game. Using Agents of Change and three level 110 toons the farm began in earnest. For three solid months I ran three instances of NToV a week (7 day lockout, seriously multi-day lockouts need to go away), while also killing Vulak at least once, usually twice a week as a natural spawn. RL got in the way again, and I had to step away for the game for about a year. At this point I was up to roughly 52-60 Vulak kills. This is four Vulak kills a week on average folks.

Again fast forward, now to this year (2021) and for the last month plus, I've repeated the process, with an additional level 110 toon. So now we're up to four Instances a week, and again, 1-2 natural spawns. Now I'm up to potentially six Vulak kills per week. And as of today I am up to roughly 80-84 kills (low ball figure). I never did actually count, but looking at the math now, I am surprised how many times I killed this guy.... I mean I knew it was a lot, but wow.

Conclusion.

Today the farming ends, I finally got this item, and it's just as amazing as I thought it would be, 0 regrets. So if your currently farming this guy, just be aware of how insanely rare this item can be to drop. If it does drop and you can use it, jump on it if you can! The longevity of this item is near-limitless.

Are we still able to get this item. I have been trying to find the dragon that drops it and none of them are up when I venture into Temple of Veshan.

You need to kill all the dragons in ntov then iirc there is a spawn and a few waves you need to go through. Took me a few clears to get mine.
Good luck

If you try to get this, you will have to spend a lot of time in NTOV. I personally had to kill Vulak 16 times to get one. I have seen it drop three times total. That was in a combined total of about 40 (or more) kills. Good luck.
It still drops.

I have been after this item since the 1st time i saw it drop on our server pre sleeper wake. Last night i finally got it to drop. I started camping Vulak when SoD went live since most left ToV to focus on leveling. I was able to get the camp locked down and killed him 10 times back to back before I finally got my Nerf Bat. Some helpful info maybe. To spawn Vulak Thylex of Veeshan must be up as well as at least 1 lord or lady must die. The exception to this rule is Lord Koi'Doken as he is not a "Dragon" but rather a "Sea Dragon" like the CS one or Druid 1.0 epic fight one. You can space out the Lords/Ladies repop timers so you only have 1 to spawn near the same timer as Thylex. They are on a 3.5day respawn timer. I a level 85 Monk was able to solo all the dragons in Ntov with heal pots or using a low cost heal merc. My travel path for quick spawn was i used 3 accounts and setup a fellowship just for checking if Thylex was up. I made 4 level 1 alts and camped 1 on each account in Vulak's chamber and left one in the fellowship hall in PoK. I would then juggle my monk in and out of the Vulak camp fellowship to check if Thylex had spawned. It made for quick ToV entry and clear time. On avg i would spend less then 45min to an hour in ToV. Good Luck to anyone willing to invest the time to camp this TOOL of tools.

Few side notes. It does still work in duels and you can also use it on mercs of the person you are dueling. You can use it on yourself as well. I can get 2 total casts off with it before the reuse timer on my Solt chest is even refreshed. You can use in conjunction with the Solt/TSS chest as well as Anguish chest. As long as the item's spell name is not the same like in TSS/Solt you can use them on their own timers. There is no reuse timer on Abashi.

Something to keep an eye for when Fighting Vulak if you wanna get your hopes up on what items he has. He will use the weapon he has to melee with you so if its a axe or sword you will see "He slashes you" if its Abashi " He crushes you " Gharns " He punches you ". You can also work up Disarm on him and see if he has a weapon. He can drop more then 1 weapon at once i saw this twice. So don't give up just based on how he hits you.
It still drops.

That's funny that you camped lvl 1s in Vulak's tower, since level 1s can't even zone into ToV.
It still drops.

I won one of these a few weeks back, Great pulling tool indeed, I pull with this & it does help a lot, also very useful to strip buffs from mobs that are being mezzed.

Clicky for non listed classes???
# Mar 18 2004 at 9:23 PM Rating: Decent
Has anyone on FV found out if this is clickable by non listed characters. I know it can be clicked from invantory, but some items can be clicked by non listed classes ( AoN ). This would be Godly on PVP for non debuffing classes.

So many times people on horses would whip around me, dot me, nuke me, run to get healed, etc. Abashi's rod put a rude ending to all of that ;p 3 sec clicky from inventory dispell? Please. This staff owns, if for no other reason than it's GREAT cast range. (Longest distance clicky pull toy for monks I believe.)

the Story
# Mar 12 2002 at 7:42 AM Rating: Excellent
You gotta be an old school player to understand the subtle humor Verant slipped in.

First off the effect is a Right Click 4 slot Dispell on the stick.

Second, old school pumice stones were insta cast and cast Pillage enhancement.

Abashi use to be a PVP Necro back in the day. He thought he was so badass and coule beat anyone in a duel. One day a Wizard said he could smoke any Necro, and he certainly could. Abashi questioned the wizard asking him Ok, hotshot how? The wizard replied easily, I'll just root your pet nuke you and pumice off your dots.

Abashi couldn't believe it would be that easy to beat a Necro in PvP. As Abashi was working for Verant, the next patch Pumice Stones had been nerfed to Nullify Magic (2slot debuff). On top of that it was changed so that Poison, Disease dots could not be pumiced off.

So this 2hander is very obviously a Monk weapon. Necro was put on the wep to finish the punchline.

Someone must have a real hate for us monks nowadays because they have been delivering some low blows in the last few big patches and expansions, like armor that is DRU/MNK/BST usable and weighs way too much, imagine if you had a full set, who the hell wants to share a tag with BST and DRU? They also nerfed our damage mitigation, but we get an aa to raise our damage mitigation , funny isn't it. Why nerf it in the first place.. I'll think of more **** to say later when I find out how much more DPS they gave rangers and rogues and taking away from monks whats with endless quiver, you F-ing pussys, wheres the endless throwing star for monks and rogues? why cant we have something like that, we throw **** alot and not everyone has a clicky bracer or pouch. f-you all ranger and rogue jerks at verant who hate monks. /rant off /flame duck /lick my dicck also. Thanks! I like it when people do that.

LOL Shallana. Great story. Though I personally do not beleive Abashi ever leveled past 24 on his PvP necro. And at level 24 you can root the pet all you want and necro will still eat any wizard alive.

Look at the effect of this weapon. Look at the range of the spell. This is like the best pull tool a monk can ever get. Not to mention no more runnin outta ammo.
Who should...
# Oct 21 2002 at 5:53 PM Rating: Good
Mortiss.. lets be a little objective.
Lets see who should get this.

Stats:
Both could use them but; there are more melee stats there than caster stats. The only one a necro could really use is INT. The rest would help him, but think how many time a necro is sent to beat a mob at melee range? Never. True, the necro can use the str to carry more stuff, the sta to have more hps to live longer and leach him/her self more, agi for more ac and dex to fizel less. But honestly, at the lvl will be weilding 2 items that would give them better stats than just carrying this staff.

Resists:
Obviously everyone needs resists, can't question that. But again, the necro will porbably benefit more from weilding 2 items.

Damage Ratio:
This is a weapon, that means it is intended to do damage. I'm the hands of a necro, it would totaly go to waste. Just think how many times a necro would hit a lvl 60 mob with a 2hb skill of 110? (that's the necro's cap for the 2hb skill, monks cap 2hb at 252). No only the dmg dealing capacity of this weapon would go to waste, but also the nice proc. If you hit a mob less times, you're going to get less procs out of it.

At this lvl of gameplay, necros have better stuff they can wield on both hands (their epic alone has more INT on it and about the same resist and it is a one hand item). But for monks, this is one of the best if not the best 2hb you can get.

I not saying that necros should not roll for this weapon, but if you look at it logically, I really doubt the raid leader, or even the necros there, would not give this weapon to a monk.

My 2cp.

PD: I love the story behind the name of this weapon btw. :)

RE: Who should...
# Jan 17 2003 at 9:04 PM Rating: Default
8 other necro stats on this: HP, mana, stamina, and 15 all saves. Str isn't too terrible for all the loot that a soloing necro gets to haul out. A necro who doesn't get hit at all probably doesn't have much use for agility, and dex... well, unless they decided to melee with this gadget, probably wouldn't do them much good.
Monks probably wouldn't be allowed to use this in most groups, but it'd make a nice solo weapon.

NO DROP ... Not on FV
# Mar 09 2002 at 1:18 AM Rating: Default
If you are on Firiona Vie more than likely it is tradible ALTHOUGH I am in the strongest guild there now and ToV's first raid on the server is in 2 weeks. We are still growing since the server pop is so low but its slow going. If/when we ever get this I will confirm if its not no drop. One of the great perks of the server is when players get upgrades to items they can pass down everything except Epics. Planar armor/weapons/items are all trade ready except epic parts and the epic weapons themselves. Great when you only need to visit the planes a few times to max out your main tanks/casters then as items roll in everyone wins NO DROP is never a hinderance.

There are no alts only one character per player, so very few twinks, also there is a buff cap such that you cant Altune a newbie or such, so pl is doable but not simple.

That sounds horrible, twink city =( Personally I would like to see more no drop items in the game and level restrictions which reduce the power of a item on too low a character.

This is a right click dispell that dispells ONE of your buffs. At first it was instant cast and unlimited charges, but it now has a casting time. It was so rediculously overpowered for pvp (and in general) that there was no way they could have left it alone. Still a great beat stick. looks like velium brawl stick.
