RE: epic gaunts

Hey... while we're at it, how bout we start letting casters dual weild spells...? Heh, yea right! Don't ask for something u KNOW we'll never get. And it's not about roleplaying either, cause every fantasy work I have ever seen, the casters could cast multiple simultaneous spells. Please stop with the insane suggestions for things that shouldn't be in the game.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 14 2001 at 5:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Now THAT is an interesting possibility. But make it for any duel weild class. THAT would be very nice. Make it so that there are multiple ways to do the quest... to prevent overcamping. Now, what to do about straight casters, maybe some type of a spell haste item?
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 21 2001 at 11:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That's a good idea, but how bout make it so that it were paladin sk only and it gives them the dual wield skill with a skill of 150. that would be insane, it would make a reason for people to play paladins or sk's that high if they hadn't already found one. just my interesting 2cp. =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 09 2001 at 5:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) VM, you should have sent the one that has a young halfling on it ;p

Imagine monk with this plus their epic (which nearly every monk capable of doing Vulak has) - what's the percent haste on that thing? Whatever it is, it makes this thing sickening. At the level of quality of gear and player it takes to do Vulak, the monk will EASILY have maxed haste - something like 105% at level 60 (please, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Calculate that out that's 30 / (1 + 1.05) = 30/2.05 = 14.63, round up = 15. So this weapon is essentially, in the hands of any monk capable of getting this, 40/15. Reading what is said down below my post by other people, monks can hit for 200-250 easily with this, triple attack, so that's 600-750 dmg every 1.5 seconds (if they triple attack and hit max all three times which is highly unlikely.) In reality, it's still couple hundred damage every 1.5 seconds. So, unless the monk is very smart (which every Vulak-capable monk is) you'll end up with a monk smear on the ground.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 25 2002 at 6:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Umm... yea... epic PLUS this? Are you crazy or just insane? What weapon type is this? Oh yea!... 2HB. Last time I checked 2HB meant that you can only hold one weapon. How do you mean to explain that you can hold this AND the monk epic? Just a thought.
RE: Whoa...
# Mar 26 2002 at 11:45 PM Rating: Default
The monk epic is not held in primary or secondary slot. Celestial fists are placed in the hand slot. This allows a monk to wield a 2hb and his/her epic at the same time.

You don't get it. The classes that can use it have nothing to do with which class is appropriate to own it. It's all about which 2 classes were the most vocal about being nerfed and who blamed Abashi the most (Abashi being the person justifying nerfs at the time)

Necros had so many nerfs made all at once that the system shock almost wiped them out. Monks spent 2 years saying "FD is broken" "FD is broken" "umm.. FD is broken"

Who says some of the desginers don't have a sense of humour =)
RE: Hmm
# Nov 09 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Default
I would have to agree. A necro would benefit only from the saves, int, mana, and to some extent the hp (because everyone needs that) and less from the sta and agi (more hp, more ac).

A monk, however, would benefit from the ungodly ratio, the str, the dex, the sta, the agi, the hp, the resists, and the proc to pull with. The only thing he wouldn't benefit from would be the mana and int. Much better suited for a monk, though I do see why they put necro on there (seeing as how Abashi always played a necro.)

So, monks, this is one that I don't think anybody would flame you for saying 'MONK ITEM' - because it is just that but it's so blatantly obvious you'd probably get flamed for saying the obvious.
Proc

Umm, the last i knew the proc was Triggered not random. The cast time was upped from Instant to like 2 - 3 seconds.

Some NPCs do say what item you gave them, like "Thanks for the Rusty Pick Axe Gerald." Give something to a banker in Thurgadin and see for yourself.

What I love about this isnt the 40|30, and not the +15 to everything my monk needs, but the fact that someone considered my Monk to be capable of the same evil as a Necro, haha, its about time. And if you doubt the evil of a Monk, go step in their prayer garden sometime. You'll find their foot on the dark side of your ***, rather quickly ;|
Quite appropriate
# Nov 09 2001 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default
I have to hand it to the content guys. So far the stuff named after the guys we all know are appropriate to their reputations. Abashi, being the Nerf God, naturally has a mega Nerf Bat that drops from Vulak. That proc plus a shaman equals a major nerfing of any mob you hit with it.
Hmmmmm.
# Nov 09 2001 at 12:52 AM Rating: Decent
Ladies, gentlemen, why is it that you (apparently retarded) people scream "OMG FAKE" on nearly every single item from NToV? Do you not realize that the loot you're getting at level 24 isn't the best around? Do you have any, and I mean ANY, idea of how much time, effort, skill, and teamwork it takes to get a guild to the point where they can handle NToV? (and then subsequently clear it) No. You don't. You sit in rathe mountains, guk, velketors and sebilis and you wallow in your ignorance. You most likely don't read anything about EQ other than the Allakhazam's forums, known to be populated by quite possibly the least intelligent and informed individuals that would legally pass as non-vegetables. The single reason that I read these forums once in awhile is for humor... you simply can't get stupidity of this quality anywhere else.

Now, for some EDUCATION. Knowledge is power, my friends.

1) This is most certainly real.
2) Please refer to http://vismaior.net/nwing/index.html before you begin typing any more mindless drivel. These items are *gasp* all real. They drop every day, on every server, by the hundreds. I'm sorry if you cannot comprehend the fact that people don't use suit up in rygorr armor and SSoY's to kill dragons with the better part of 1 million HP that can drop even fully buffed warriors in less time than it takes to type "tanking.. HEALS!".
3) The effect on it is NOT a proc. It does NOT harm you. It it a right click, 200 range dispell. It happens to be an outstanding item for pulling.
4) In case you were wondering, it also happens to be the overall most damage weapon setup that a monk can use... barring extremely high AC NToV nameds. (In which case gharn's rock w/ fist of lightning offhand would outdamage it)

If this post helps raise at least one person out of the pitiful depths of ignorance, then I've done well for today.

GI Joe may have been a pretty stupid cartoon, but they did get one thing right. Knowing is half the battle..

Firimas,

Thanks for the info on the loot table, very comprehensive. Nice to see everything organized in such a manner.

For the other 2 who replied- take a joke. He has a good point... and if you consider what he said an insult to anyone or this site- remain ignorant for all anyone cares. And enjoy those ykeshas :p. I applaud him for giving the community this information.

Quite honestly, the majority of the people who post on this site in response to high end items *need* a little insulting once in awhile. Sift through the threads here and tell me any different.

I'm not insulting the site itself, the people who run this do a great job and put together a good source of information. Unfortunately they cannot control the type of people who access (and subsequently comment on) this information. Most people wouldn't think of themselves as an expert on military tactics unless they either A) were in the military or B) read a great deal on the subject. Same thing goes for the high end game in EQ... you have a ton of newbies, lowbies, and uninformed/ebayed high level people spouting total BS every chance they get. If you've never even seen the inside of ToV and have never taken the time to at least read up on some ACCURATE info, then I have to make an open offer to kindly keep your ignorant mouths shut.

The best thing I ever did in EQ was attain level 60 and distance myself from most of the newbies. Out of sight, out of mind. =)

Just as one must relate the compliment to feel complimented.... one must relate to the insult to indeed be just that - insulted. So if you read about people being lame, and you feel a bit insulted (a kin to) ... then you must see lameness within yourself, and relate to it.

take that to your monk shrine.

* I also think its bad *** that someone from old school shared that story, it makes it more then just a game... :) very cool *

While i do agree with you on one point, ie there are a good deal of 'misinformed/uninformed' people out there, i -dont- believe that they 'need a little insulting once in a while'. those folks are best left to themselves; give em enough rope and theyll hang themselves. one thing i -do- think we need are a bit more informed comments. Take out the insults in your first comment, and it would have been an excellent post: good info, links for deeper searching, and to the point. you seem to have a good grasp of the zone/loottable, but youve only posted, what, 4 times? if you know the info on the goods haha, feel free to share with the rest of us :) it will be awhile till i can hit Tov, and i really enjoy reading about the goings on in there. and again, dont worry about the people screaming 'its a fake/needs to be nerfed/oh look, another item ill never see'...they'll either stop playing, or get off thier butts and go see for themselves.

I agree with Miriamele, I think this is meant as a joke. Rod of Disempowerment = Nerf Stick (Nerf Bat) It might be very nice for Monks to pull with it is true. Very desireable for Monks even if it were a 2/50 weapon with no stats.

RE: umm oh my fakeness
# Nov 08 2001 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
FOOOOL! Look at the beast that drops it. It's VULAK'AERR. One of the most bad *** dragons ever to roam Norrath... without being sealed in a horrible tomb. He is THE boss of ToV, drops all sorts of amazing items. I believe that Verant would plant this on good ol' Vulak. Take a look at some of the other items he drops. Supposedly... a 51/42 2 handed axe with all sorts of stats and a proc. REAL FUNNY. Monks might use this... to practice 2hb. *grin* Anyway, 40/30 isn't unusual from such a monster. Necro DOES confuse me, I admit.

since when does verant have a sense of humor ? seems kinda fake to me, especialy with the unusual limit on classes (why necros?).

with that said, assuming its real, monks would *not* use this, and necros would *not* use this.
if anything its more of a gag item.

this is why

monks primal velium fists or what ever they are called are 15/20 or something similair with stats to everything and avatar proc. adding both fists damage together with have a 30/20 damage weapon with excellent stats. remember, speed is essence in uber encounters, because you miss alot, and hit for extremely low damage alot, the reason almost all monks abandon 2hb. dont say that not everyone has primal velium war fists, anyone in a guild who gets this item is going to have those fists or better.

necros would not use this because the stats suck compared to what they could possibly weild, seeing as they wont be meleeing by the time they get this.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 08 2001 at 9:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) MONK ITEM! It had to be said.

Dispell ...
# Nov 08 2001 at 6:21 PM Rating: Decent
Not sure what you guys saying - but as far as I know, the effect on this staff is an unlimited right clickable and targetable dispell. And even better, it's my understanding it only dispells "positive" buffs, so you can use it on mobs after other buffs have already been cast, like Malo and Occlusion.
