I have a question??? What is Vulaak'Aerr doing with Sirran's boots of Insanity??? If i recall Sirran the Lunatic is the funny looking guy from PoA that gives ya the keys to the next island... Why did Vulaak'Aerr eat him?
RE: ???
# Jul 17 2005 at 4:15 PM Rating: Default
vulak worships veeshan right? PoSky is veeshan's realm, and sirran inhabits it. They identify as "boots of the chosen" maybe they were meant to be given to sirran? or something lol

Vulak items are named after famous NPCs (this boots), GMs (Vyrinn's earring) and Verant Staff (Abashis Rod of Disempowerment)

sirran is named after GM Narris.

True, but the only way that Vulak'Aerr could have gotten ahold of these items would be to kill their previous owners. A dragon certainly wouldn't have any use for such items

who cares... nice boots!
I have them
# Nov 19 2001 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
They could be better :)

Like flowing thought II or better.
Having some agility and charisma would also be nice.

I'm not complaining. This was one of my two choices for loot from Vulak.
1 group in ToV

I guess it could be possible for 1 group to hunt in ToV but why would you want to? You cant kill anything named and you would kill stuff so slowly that it would take forever to get anything. And by the time you are uber enough to do ToV with 1 group you probably dont need to farm anymore armor.

Not to start an arguement, BUT.....

1) Often times pick up groups are done in ToV.

2) The east and west wings can be done with one group. I just recently learned and participated in this myself.

3) You are able to enter the zone at a much lower level. My alt for CR is only 46 and is in there as I am typing this, parked at some wall, ready to drag corpses.

4) Resist gear is easy to get, and much more important, easy to buy. Simply buy the gems, and the components and have a friendly chanter make for you, or purchase the resist jewelry you need.

5) Dedication is needed, and in order to FARM the zone, sure, high level guilds are recommended but not required. Also the level of 55 is mainly suggested due to the resist factors, however, if you are a preist class, you can be as low as a 49 cleric, and still be quite useful, just simply have them in a position to avoid the AE.

6) A good start to getting some gear that is useful for ToV, is to go kill in PoG, which also only takes one group. I have lead quite a few pick up folks and grabbed a team mixed with different folks and hunted there. It isn't hard, it just takes some knowledge, skill, and practice.

7) North hall, which is where this mob also is found, is recommended for 58+ players, but in actuality, may classes can be much lower and still be VERY helpful, for the hunt, it simply depends on what class they are playing.

Sorry, just adding some minor info.

LOL

One group in PoG is something maybe level 60s can do, but I seriously doubt most posters here are 60. Its a plane. You get tons of adds. And by the time you are 60, there is nothing you want from PoG.

One group ToV is rough, even at 60. 2 groups is doable, but you better have an evac'er in both groups, or a cleric camped out. And again, to do this, we are talking mostly level 60 players, or damn close to 60.

Even at 55 and lower, most classes get eaten up by the AE's. I recommend 57+. By 57 most players that have good resist gear will be able to survive a 2 wurm pull, if their melee can effectively handle both at once.

The difference between 59 and 60 is roughly an extra 25% dmg output for melee class players. Most casters also gain some nice dmg spells at 60, making them more effective as well. Clerics and Shaman gain better AC/HP buffs, giving the melee extra breathing room before reaching 0 HP. If you want to do ToV, put the time and effort into getting 60. Its well worth it.

Just to correct you as well.....
It seems you are one that doesn't frequent the zone of POG as much as my guild has.

First of all, I have a level 60 wizard and a level 57 warrior.

I have been main tanking the doable mobs in pog since level 54 and still main tank in pog often and still not yet 60 and that is with one group.

To do pog successfully, you need TWO 53+ tanks, hopefully one at least level 55 in order to taunt worth a damn against the protectors themselves. You will also need at least a 54 chanter, but 55 and up is much better for the mezzing. An epic cleric is a plus. 5th and 6th are up to you, it doesn't really matter, although I strongly suggest a wizard to snare/root park, and maybe a shaman to help slow, but our chanter did most of the slowing.

Pog is a dangerous place to hunt with one group. It isn't about levels, it's about knowledge of when to pull, what to pull, and where to pull to safely (without worrying about adds), knowing when to mez versus knowing when to charm, and timing the protectors. SIMPLE.
If you haven't even tried to do pog with one solid group, then you really have no business commenting, becuase Echoes of Thunder from Solusek Ro has done PoG MANY MANY times with a single group. In fact, most of my warriors FULL SET of pog gear was retreived in one group, INCLUDING being able to kill Undogo Digolo ONE GROUP and that was back when I was level 55.

And in ToV, One group is doable, hard but doable, if it's a bad pull, your puller should die and get rezzed in and try again. If it's a good pull, then you kill it with ease if you know what to do. I wouldn't believe it had I not been in a single group killing there. I can't go in to specific's about HOW becuase quite frankly, I am just a guest on that hunt, but I can tell you that our MAIN tank was level 55.

So think before you speak. Listen before you think. And Heal before they die. My three favorite rules to live by.

One more thing. If you CAN'T DO IT, don't say it's not doable, becuz you fail where others succeed. (I like the silk legs I won to show for a reward for the single group I was in-if you read this, thanks for letting me come, I'm always game for more)

Alot of the items that have been coming out of ToV have references to other heroes and famous NPCs, so I would assume that the reference is to Sirran the Lunatic in Plane of Sky.

Ah, sarcasm translates so poorly into text, does it not?
It still would have been nice if he had added the line "Note the sarcasm" at the end, even if it would have negated it's subtlety. That would, of course, be for those who failed both their spot and wisdom rolls (D&D reference)

Going to FLAME this one real hard. Quit your whining, there are lots of times that I as a mage am like, "wow, that would be really cool" but under no circumstances do I say, "gee, this is a mage item". Besides, what would you do with the mana, hehe.

This is like alot of other TOV... uber. I think whoever gets a bit of the amazing loot from TOV deserves it.

Given that to any guild who can fight in TOV there arent many other places in the game that are challenging I dont think it matters how incredible the loot is, as it takes incredible effort to get it.
Question
# Nov 08 2001 at 7:23 PM Rating: Default
At what lvl should i be able to fight over there. I am lvl 53 now, was told 55 is lowest that should be there. Is that true?

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 09 2001 at 2:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Only if you never wanted a chance at 'em again. If you ninja'd this, your name wouldn't be worth Norrathian dirt ever again. Your only option would be to pay the $50 to change servers or to quit the game. If somebody ninja'd these, well, I'll just let it go at that.

These have to be the "Best" foot slot item in the game period.(for the above listed characters).I guess I can only dream of these puppies, unless I was in on kick butt guild with a small nuclear ******* to drop this guy.I'll bet it would take months of steady kills to equip those in the guild that would die to have these babys.Congrats to Vis Major on obtaining them.
