I have a lvl 29 monk and between the EK and Rathe mountains events i was fortunate enough to loot 5 items: the boots, the belt, this shoulderpiece, and 2 different face items. Great items, I am now using 4 of them and saving one for resist gear, but am confused at to why none of them have any strength. Agility and stamina are pretty useless unless we are soloing because it's not our job to take the hits. My dex is now 130 =) but my strength is still a measly 117. Monks main role is to deal damage. Next time an event like this goes on I hope we can get more items that enhance our damage dealing abilities.
I was kind of wondering about this too. I think the Monk Earring that was dropping in WC had a little (+1 STR & +2 DEX, something like that-it's on the site here now). Other than that maybe it's because things at the higher levels have more strength on them? I haven't been looking into those too much yet but the ones I have don't seem to be much into AGI & DEX, mostly low weight, AC, STR, & HP. I could be wrong...
I'm only level 9, but gladly took the -1 ac and -2 agi for 3 dex, 5 sv cold, and a lot less weight. In case you're wondering why a level 9 might have either this item or the drolvarg mantle... I can only tell you that i was not, in fact, twinked by anyone i know, including me. Lucky monk Rajyia 9th lucky ring Erolissi Marr (btw, i got this when i was level 3)
During the Werewolf event in WC, someone yelled out that this dropped, but the corpse was on the other side of the zone, so it was gone before I got there (even if it wasn't looted in that time, it would have rotted). This is nice, definitely better than the Wu's mantle I still have. And it will probably never drop again. All I got was the earring, which is an OK item, but nothing compared to this. Oh well.
I managed to get one of these but wasn't really sure if I wanted to sacrifice the 1AC & 4-5AGI on my Drolvarg. Well, at lvl 38 I switched to this one & actually gained about 3 more AC than the Drolvarg because of the weight difference (I tend to run a pound or two over-limit). If someone could let me know if it'd matter other than convenience of lighter weight under the limit it'd be appreciated. But I'll probably stick with this anyway, my FR & CR are almost exactly matched now (who knows how long that'll last thoguh, most things come with FR it seems). Overall I'd have to say this is a good shoulder piece probably into the upper 40s, higher if you're not able to go on the high end raids a lot. :C)
I lost about 2 "effective" AC in the switch to this, but since my FR is already pretty good, I've relegated my Drolvarg Mantle to the Fire Resist suit.
I too picked up one of these and swapped it for my Drolvarg Mantle. I keep at or just under weight and swapping them only mad 1AC total difference to my AC. Given that at my level (48) I lose 6AC for the first point over weight I would much rather wear this than the Drolvarg unless I need the FR.
