I'm level 40 with 185 strength.

I hit for 90-160 average and have hit for 187 with strength buff and Yaulp II.

Paid around 6k at the bazaar. I love it.

I won this little beauty on a chardok raid last week. As a shadowknight i'm not as buffed in the strength areas as a warrior, but with this little baby, Im able to hang with the big boys. My damage output is between 160-259 per swing. I would have to say its definately a nice 2-hander to have.
A lovely weapon for the pre-epic ranger in group situations
# Sep 27 2002 at 1:44 AM Rating: Good
Aloha all and well met

Just a few notes on this wonderful weapoon for the average pre-epic ranger. As masters of "aggro-management" we often over aggro in relation to our other more suitable MA brethren. One solution for the swing happy ranger, is to use a higher damage 2HS weapon in lieu of dual weild. (this also proves to be a decent solution sometimes for some of the Luclin high AC mobs, but that is another story...)

Well, Rangers will sometimes find a situation in which a 2HS weapon proves to be much better for maintaining an aggro-free envirionment. This weapon ranks very high in my book for the pre epic/pre-ST crowd of rangers who need that extra umph. Offering a great damage delay ratio (1.166 I think), 10 Str and Wisdom, 10 AC, and 25 hp and mana, this is still one of the best weapons that you can find on the market.

I give this weapon 2 thumbs up :-)

# Oct 10 2002 at 2:42 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, in PvP vs. a caster, this is not exactly what you want.

Get the Shield of Rainbow Hues and a FAST nasty 1hs. That will serve you FAR better in PvP. You get the resists AND you get damage output more often so the caster PK sees their health going down RIGHT away. They do NOT like that! Bash interrupts as well.

Now in PvP vs. a warrior type (AS IF!!!) this would be pretty good. Vs. a Monk (AS IFF!!!) it would be good...

Keep in mind, most PK's are casters and the way to beat a caster is to have high resists on whenever possible. When I hunt in a group in areas that I KNOW I could get jumped suddenly, I wear my resist gear over the AC gear any day. It'll frustrate them to see that you are not taking the damage they need you to suffer for the mana they are spending on ya so they run like rabbits.

No doubt posted by non-PvPers. Nobody ever stands still in a PvP fight. Therefore, if you know how to use it, a high damage/delay weapon works the best. You click attack on when you are close, then back off while turning your attack off. This gives you the advantage, since every time you step into the fight, the person gets blasted with a huge amount of damage. VS casters, you will get limited chances to hit since they will be busy trying to root you or outrun you. So a huge blast of damage when you the other player slips and you get close is what you want. Go play PvP and see what happens in a REAL fight before you post

Not only that, but they also failed to note that, in pvp, on the server that allows item looting, you cannot loot a person's weapon, just armor or unbagged items.

Actually, you can loot weapons. Unfortunately it happened to me one day long ago on Rallos Zek.... I had just looted a howling harpoon and had equiped it when i was attacked by 2 I was at war with. One was able to disarm me and my weapon fell into the first inventory slot open. They were able to loot the weapon because when the killed me it wasn't in a weapon slot or in a bag.

Ok i just bought this pig sticker the other and i wanted to warn anyone that has it to be careful of agro hehe. With my schw i was pulling agro without hitting my taunt hotkey in two swings from a 51 warrior with very good gear. Avg damage for a 44 pally with 200 2hs is 99 and i have only 132 str. My best hit is 167 which is uber damage at lvl 44. If you can afford this weapon buy it and enjoy!!

Bought one for 21k on Tarew Marr...yeah, it was expensive, but what a great weapon. Around 220 str buffed with Yaulp and I hit for an average of 140-160 per swing. Stats rock, great damage, first time I ever broke 100 points of damage was with this weapon. Unfortunately I tend to hold agro, especially when fighting undead with Instrument of Nife, so I have to be careful. Best plat I ever spent.

I hope not to get flamed, but I need some help. I understand that SCHW haste is 24%. If the delay on an item, for mathematics sake, is 100, would using this haste item then make the delay 76? And what is the haste % on valor of marr? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

RE: Haste stats
# Aug 02 2002 at 1:16 AM Rating: Default
haste on SCHW is 22% as I understand.
Also it would not be 76delay it does not take all the delay down by 26% only half the delay so a 200delay sword (god forbid there ever is one you would have to pay someone to take it from you LOL j/k) but it would make the delay on it 178 delay

please correct me if I am wrong, have just guessed at this from what I have heard from other posts. NO FLAMING NOW!!! be nice about it =P

Here's how the math works:

Take the haste percentage (in the case of the SCHW, 22%), add one, and divide the weapon's delay by it.

In the case of this weapon (Argent Protector, delay 49) with a SCHW, the effective delay would be 49/(1+.22) = 40.16.

One other note: If you have various forms of haste at the same time (item, buff, song, and proc), they are not linearly additive. Also, there is a level dependent haste cap. To REALLY see what haste you're getting, it's always best to parse your log files.

I used the Argent Defender (same speed, less damage) for a short time before getting an upgrade. These slow heavy weapons are great for some things, especially soloing when you don't need to keep aggro off another member. When you riposte or double-attack with a fast, light weapon, you get a small amount of additional damage. However, when you riposte or double with slow, heavy weapons, you can do huge amounts of damage in a single round. It is my opinion that ripostes and doubles have a bigger impact with heavy weapons like these.

I got this tonight. This sword is pretty slow, with my haste on it is 42/39 and 42/32 with Valor of Marr. I had no problem at all holding agro with both my haste on, though without it, it is a bit tough without casting stun or another spell. I hit for 100+ half my hits and maxed at 192. I only have 186str and my attack is 950. Still not sure how people are hitting for 230+ let alone 300 or more unless they are non-hybrid. 10 more str only adds 4 more max dmg I found so str can't make you hit for that much more. My friend has a strength of grodron and hits for 230 max but he also has 250 str. The stats are really a nice bonus... 10ac, 10wis, 10int, 10str, 25hp/mana, it's like having a low ac shield with nice stats. Not really sure why all these warriors would use this... it is a nice 2hs but as a warrior (me having a ranger) I would use duel wield... it's a privelege! This sword owns for sk and paladin 2hs.

One other thing I have noticed about this sword. I can hold the taunt ( at least as long as I have a lvl 54+ chanter haste buff ) much better than I can with most 1H weapons. I was chewed on in 1 group for swinging this thing, but I proved to them that once I am hasted the mob will not turn away from me even with a rogue backstabbing it. This weapon is awsome but you MUST have a good haste item or buff to use it effectively.

My best hit so far is 399 regular with a 658 Critical. I want go into the crippling blows....lol.
I wasnt sure I saw the critical correctly until I reviewed my EQ Log Parser. For some strange reason the criticals also seem to come in pairs with this weapon. Not sure if its because of the dmg ( 42 ) or that my str and sta and dex being maxed out. Any ideas?

I seriously doubt you did a 399 regular hit with Argent Protector. With my Tantors Tusk I've been able to get a 309 at best. I assume you meant to say 299, which still is very impressing, considering it has 8 less damage then Tantors.

All i can say is thanks Vyrigal!
RE: Wowzers
# Nov 07 2001 at 7:48 AM Rating: Default
40-45 damage would have to be a crit. Otherwise, the damage cap would prevent this kind of damage.
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 07 2001 at 6:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is not 100% accurate. Although I myself doubt a pre level 20 character can hit quite as hard as mid 40s with any weapon, they can break 29 damage.

The way it was explained to me, what the damage cap does is limit the weapon damage rating to an effective 14 damage weapon. This does equate to 29 damage with below 100 strength. However, the strength bonus is added to the total damage done. For example, my lvl 15 warrior has 138 strength, and has hit for 26 with icetooth's claws (11 damage weapon). With a storm strength buff, I have gotten near 30 damage. I have a Shiny brass Halberd that I use to train 2hs, and have hit for 33 max (not maxxed skill), without buffs or crits. For a level 18 to hit for 40's, would have to be a crit, or possibly strength buffed well over 200. Not sure about that, as I have never fought with strength that high.

well everyone else threw there 2 coppers in..here is mine. I play a 47 DE war..and quite frankly at this level str and other stats aint that big a deal. in a good group and with the right buffs the important stats (for war) are gonna be maxxed at 255 (Harness of spirit is awsome) so Ogres and troll aint the last word in Tanks. They, like every other race/class combination have there advantages and disadvantages. So really it dont matter what the heck ya play just so long as YOU like what YOU play.

I generally don't post on these petty threads.....but. Large races do have several advantages, more hp's, more str, stun etc. The main downfall of a large race is speed. Agi is what your hits and misses are based on, therefore these smallraced warriors that you bash are going to be able to outtaunt you at any level of the game. Now you state that they don't have the hp's over level 20 to do the job?? Once you get higher in level the hp's are about the same across the board. Small races are a viable option, trust me. As a wood elf I have tanked in such various zones as KC, DN, and Seb. And this is pre-50.

Just thought I would mention it before you take a good option away from someone that wishes to play a warrior for the first time. I'm not stating that a Wood Elf is better, just leveling the playing field. Any race is a viable option. Play what you enjoy.

And seriously...before posting drivil like this maybe you should stop...sober up...and think about what you are about to type...and how much of an idiot it will make you sound like.

RE: Wowzers
# Nov 07 2001 at 7:06 AM Rating: Good
The only differences I've seen is that ogres get no frontal stun...an overrated ability considering I'll get stunned maybe once out of every ten or twenty combats as a dark elf. Trolls get a higher regen, less down time soloing...again, no big deal. All large races get slam, this is without a doubt the biggest difference in my opinion. Once kick starts to stun though, there isn't a big problem there either. All in all it comes down to equipment. And if you've watched a fatty get stuck in a train in Lguk or some other dungeon, you'll be glad you're a small warrior.

I post anonymously normally, cuz, it's safer. LOL. But the guy I'm replying to is correct.

Go to eq.castersrealm.com and check the last 50 or so most recent posts in the Monk forum and find the thread about hit points and how they're obtained. The person who started the thread posted a couple pages about thoughts on HPs and how its BS, etc, which brought forth some facts from knowledgable tanks from various servers to correct some misconceptions and to add in further information.

All-in-All an ogre or troll warrior is the best, to start, when not twinked. Not the best in the end. Any race warrior at the same level with the same stats will have the same hit points. I met a not-so-uber level 60 iksar monk on a Kael Raid recently and he claimed he had 2800hps unbuffed -- he didn't have epic, at least not slotted, and much of his equipment was the newbie leather look. Not netted kelp, no fungi, nothing like that I could see -- and ALL my armor textures are on in my ini file. Anyways, point is-- at some point what matters is finding a guild, not petty BS arguments that people partake of in the overthere as they powerlevel their level 40 warrior with their level 58 shaman on the other computer/account sitting behind them.

I've grouped with level 54 wood elves on Cazic Thule that seemed to have nearly as many hit points as the level 53 ogre warrior who was also in the group -- they didn't have "max stats or gear" so there were differences, of course.

Anyways. Don't sit there and debate. What I have said is fact, not opinion.
