Not one post says anything on what mob drops this or where. What is the point of these posts, u all gonna get filtered out i hope. Try giving some actual information instead of blabbing at each other.
Druids = wis caster = melee capabilities generally worthless = don't care about weapons, use primary item w/ good adds (ex. paw of opolla, something like 9ac, 9wis and some other stuff)
Considering 200 is so easy to obtain I would use this item if solely for the mana and resists. Plus you never know when you need to beat up some greenies that are harassing you. :)
9AC. Let me repeat. 9AC. Primary slot. Paw IMO is AWESOME. Druids complain about sucky AC but then they are running around with sucky primary slot items. I used Paw as an example not for the 9wis it has, but because the awesome AC.
9 ermmm ok raise the roof 9 ac..... might i mention that i have many a rare items like, tanglewood shield, most my SS quest armor, even ac in my ring and range slot yet 700s in ac..... defense skill is maxed as well. i don't particularly like haven't low ac but yet i know there isn't much i can do about it save making maybe velium fire opal rings. but that would only be worn when i go into kael because i'd rather have resists so what's the point.
IIRC, the drops in Chardok can drop from any mob. If that is correct, then you'll just need to pick a camp and wait (and wait). Based on the picture above it sure looks good equipped!
Um, no..... there are SOME drops that are random off of any NPC. The majority of the gear drops from specific named NPCs, just like in any other dungeon.
I think what those that are druids are trying to say is that yes, this is a nice weapon, but its really pointless. And it is. As a druid, you don't melee at lot, and almost never once you're high enough to get this. The only meleeing you do is to finish off a kill if you're soloing. This is a very good weapon, but not right in the hands of a druid. personally I think druids should get something with a lot of wisdom and other stats because quite frankly, they're never going to put this to good use. It'd be a great ranger weapon, truly.
As a Druid, I find that many people on MT have the same look and the same items. Right now, I'm using Staff of the Earthcrafter, which is a really nice item. This would still be a nice weapon to keep my 1hs up and the graphic just rocks! I see far too much of the same stuff from druids. I would continue to use my stick b/c of the Drones of Doom proc, but this Scimmy would be great to have in emergency situation when I'm OOM and we get an add w/o an enchanter. Plus, I'm usually the main healer in most of the groups I'm in, so having a slot reserved for root is sometimes not an option. Not, I prolly won't melee that often at my level, which I don't, but the fact that I have that option in my ******* would be nice. We're a class of diversity. We should have something to melee with if the situation calls for it. Just my two cp.
Talonblaze Wolfpaw 42nd Season Druid Souls of the Kindred (MT)
hey that's enough of picking on the druids, let's see in karnors you will prolly have a chanter for mez and quick i believe they slow as well. we have the same heals as you so that's not really an issue. hrmm your a useless son ***** now aren't ya.... in any situation a class could be rendored useless save meleers and a cleric but in the right group i have main healed as well. Do I do a better job then a shamman or a cleric, well no, do I do a decent job at it, you better believe it. we have thorn shields which you lack and on casters we have group buffs which also help. outdoor zones we can also buff attack. at level 60 we get a group mana regen buff, do you get a group mana buff, NOOOOOOOO, pls don't dis a class because i don't see too many shamans for your healing abilities in raids you are there to slow and to buff. not an insult to shammans btw they are the best buffers and 2nd best healers because they can regain mana from using their hp. This is a nice item for it's quick hits, prolly will help you train ur 1hs nicely but the root is a proc, so if someone else roots this proc is thrown out the window you can't use this ability simply cuz u can't count on a proc to cast so u cant melee with it for a second and assume it's gonna be rooted so it isn't good add control. soloing could hurt you if you are trying to finish a mob off that has 250 hp and all of a sudden the root hits deals 150 and ur sucking dmg the rest of the way. just keep it in perspective could be good in many a situations but not very good in the majority i can think of.
and pal you just wanted to get noticed and kept rambling didn't ya
Who was dissing a class? I AM a druid. I know my abilities and my job in groups. My point was not what you think it was. Maybe I should state it more clearly. We are a class of BALANCE. We have the ability to do all sorts of things. Can we do it as well as another class, maybe not....but we have the ability to fill in for classes that are not available.
And for the last sentence, yes, I rambled. Some people have a habit of doing that and I'm one of them. Did I want to get noticed? No. I simply wanted to make a point.
Talonblaze Wolfpaw BALANCED Druid of 42 Seasons Souls of the Kindred (MT)
For those people in the fifties wanting a new character that can solo, this is an awesome twink item. For the first 20 levels, you can't get over the 20 damage cap except with the bonus. So a 10/(fast as you can find weapon) is better than a 20/(not as fast weapon). The look is great too for those Druids that are tired of a club or common look scimitar.
God, if I saw a newb with this sword I think I'd duel him on the spot, just for principle's sake LOL. Nothing makes me angrier than seeing a 5th level person with a 10k weapon. =)
/rant Sorry, long day hehe

Posted:Nov 06 2001 at 8:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the only thing i can imagine any druid using this for is pvp. Epic has much nicer stats and a better effect. And actually for pvp a primal brawl stick would be better
Yeah, thats because its called an EPIC, dude. Of course its going to have better stats. I think this sword is mostly for looks druidwise. It's not as good as the halfway prize in the druid epic, but it looks awesome, and, you dont have to kill Venril Sathir to get it, and the rest of the epic before that. I think this is decent, even though the dmg/dly on it is ridiculous for a druid, unless your in your lower levels.
Im lvl 54 and am currently holding a spirit tome in this slot. I think this wepon is great. My guild raided Cardoc last week, and we got owned by a dog getting away and pulling the whole zone it seemed down by the ancient guarian.
I didnt see this drop off anything down, so what drops this??
WTF? You druids finaly get a truly uber item and now you are complaining? Thats just plain ********* What the heck do you want from VI? Mage pets taht can Backstab? Harm touch? LoH? Mage pets that can LoH and Harmtouch? When I see a nice Rogue item, I think, "Cool. Maybe I'll be able to get that one day." Not "What a piece of crap. Sure it has better stats, but I'll stick with my Slimey." You once again have succeeded in confusing the crap out of me. Grats!
Thommus Dhali'Lawless Hobbit Thief of the 23rd Poisoning <Hand of Mana> The Nameless Server
"Thommus begins to cast a spell." "Thommus's image shimmers." Thommus is now uber.
STFU. They nerfed dots, and druids in general. When was the last time a shaman had a hard hitting nerf? What, when they fixed the epic? What?? When?? How about mage?? Or...yea... their pet couldn't dual wield...or double attack, or some BS....even though a 49 earth elemental can still solo a hill giant, so wtf... not sure if that attack crap was ever fixed, but necro's were sure "fixed". No more haste from fine steel daggers! Goddamn..imagine.. so.. Are mage pets fixed? They get 3 swings now too? lol...joy.
Druids cry because NOBODY WANTS THEM. Why? THEY SUCK. Why? BECAUSE ALMOST ANYONE CAN REPLACE A DRUID. Why?
-Rangers got sow at what, 29? 30?
-Shamans get sow at level 9
-People can buy travelers boots in SolA
-Most druids are Evoc or Conjur specialized, so they crap heals suck mana endlessly
-Druids do not get any slows like shamans, bards, or enchanters.
-At a lot of levels a druids skin is not preferred to a cleric's HP buff, or even just a talisman from a shaman with 4 stat buffs to go with it, and then an AC symbol on top of that. Only exception is Skin Like Nature vs Resolution. About the same HPs, but SLN gives +2 to HP regen.
-Druids are always OOM because some ****** asks for pack sow/wolf/regen constantly AND THEN asks the druid to pull, since they can track (which is really stupid. send the priest out!)
-Druids do not have any sort of pet that has any real tanking abilities vs. mobs worth any experience.
-Druids damage shield isn't as good as a magicians, and a bard can just as easily (and freely) use theirs.
-Clerics are undisputably the best healers in the game. Period. Druids do NOT replace clerics, however a good shaman can since a 75% slow spell USUALLY replaces the need for a complete heal! (Imagine that).
-What else.. ohhh.. right. DDs.. A CLERIC can out DD a druid all the way up until at LEAST level 34.... and then in the low 50s they have a brief time of again dominating a druid in this category. Quite severly I might add. Okay, so a cleric.. can Root. Heal. HP/AC buff, and out nuke?Shamans have better dots aside from their slows, a pet, cannabilize..etc,etc,blah,blah
-A paladin gets gear that casts valor inffinitely. A replacement for regen on the downtime, and heck, shamans get regen anyways. Wow, so do bards? hm.. wait, fungi tunic? iksar bp? rubi bp? hm.. wait, fungi tunic, iksar/troll regen, post 50 regen bonus, hmm... heck. Why not toss a regrowth out there too, course..shamans get that also!
-A shadowknight can replace druids for snaring.
-A ranger can replace druids for snaring.
-A bard can replace druids for snaring.
-A mage's pet just roots mobs, and doesn't need snare.
-A necromancer can replace druids for snaring, fear kiting (all them necro wanna-be druids in velious fear kiting cougars and crap)
-Do I really need to go on...
Yes, obviously a druid can replace another character, BUT THEY WILL NOT FULLFILL THAT CHARACTERS ROLE WELL, AND NEVER EXCEED IT!!!
Basically, druids are ALMOST the jack-of-all trades. No slow, no real clarity, no targetable ultravision, etc..etc.. blah, blah.. But they are mid-road on all that. ALL of that.
So, the next time you see a druid quad kiting in timorous or whatever, remember this: Are you going to invite them into your next raid on Kael cuz you need another healer? No? Not if you can find a cleric, enchanter, or shaman instead? Or mage with extra nuker, wizard for lures, bard for clarity/etc, ? Wow.. never heard that one before.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES all you newbie druids. You're in for an EXTREME dissappointment.
So, YES, we do want more.
That's not to say other classes don't deserve more.
Fact: Necromancers own.
Fiction: Necromancers are too powerful.
Fact: ALL classes, ESPECIALLY melee classes, NEED enchancement.
Remember> Verant has stiff competition now, things WILL change..
Clerics bring heals...But cannot SoW, DS (until late game), Root and DD at the same time, Snare, etc.
Shammys may be able to DoT, but RARELY have I been in a group where the shammy is casting DoTs...they do the same damn thing the druid does, Buff Stats, SoW, Heal, Regen...Med, Cani, Med, Cani, Med, Cani...etc. At least the druid can snare and DS. Which is very useful.
The only person that can do everything a druid can is a Bard. But then again, not as well. I am a 55 bard and my DS does 10 damage to a druids 25 (I know it's at least 20)? I cannot buff HP/AC with one cast, only for short periods. My snare lasts about 15 seconds (give or take), Druid snares at the beginning of the fight, viola. Heals (enogh said). Druid can buff attack and resists like crazy while still being a use to the group, Bard has to get out his little drum and punch the mob for 5 damage...
Necro's may be very powerful, but only in particular places. If I were in a dungeon with one spot to fill in a group...I'd take the druid.
eg. #1 Group: "Oh crap, too many mobs and the cleric just went LD!" Necro: "alt+1 (Feign Death)" Group: "LOADING, PLEASE WAIT..." Group: "Damn, I'm bound in X..." "Waaah!" Necro: "AFK til you guys get back." >P
eg. #2 Group: "Oh Crap, too many mobs! we're screwed" Druid: "alt+1 (Succor)" Group: "LOADIN, PLEASE WAIT..." Group: "Damn, that was close...I luff you (druid's name). Let's get back to our spot." Druid: "=D" =)
Druids, don't let foolish necro's talk you out of playing your chars just because no one wants a necro in their group...I'm not saying necro's are useless, I love them the same...just that Druids are very good and very versatile.
Jhoval Moonsong Troubadour of the 55th song "Clan of One" -Bristlebane-
Ok, anonymous crack-smoker, calm down. Dont get your panties in a twist.
Who ever said druids replaced anyone on anything? Sounds to me like you had a bad trip, and you've never played a druid past the "pick a starting city" point. You just pointed out all our strong suits.
Why have druids in a group? Because we are a little bit of everyone in one class. Dont have a mage? Its ok, the druid can DS. No necro? Druids have snare (it even resists less and lasts MUCH longer than a necro/SK's, not to mention the infinately lower mana cost). Sure, the druid snare doesnt do damage, but thats what the DS is for. It also saves the tank a bunch of HP. Not to mention the group regen that only uses a fraction of mana, as long as you arent still the same lvl you got it at. Need a mob removed from immediate combat? Druids have the best root in the game (it even does damage).
And just WHAT were you smoking when you started talking about clerics out-damaging druids with nukes? See, the spells that heal the highest amount of HP have the highest mana cost (what a concept). What cleric past lvl 20 will bother to spend mana nuking if there is a druid in the group?
Exactly how many raids have you been on? People will take almost anyone on a raid if they have something to contribute (yes, that includes BACK-UP healing). I can almost see the raids you go on. They are going to be just like what the doctor said the day you were born: its gonna get REAL ugly.
Ok, I cant go on anymore. I should have just left the post alone. I think the stupidity shown on his/her part is punishment enough.
Rori Morningsoul Halfling Druid of the 46th foot-hair Xegony
Cry me a river, Ranger-girl. At least y'all have a use on high-end raids. Rangers are great damage dealers, and are uber pullers, epsecially combined with a monkey for feign tagging.
I dont me to sound Flameish or any thing but come on! There is more to having the best item for a slot its called Character. Just because all us druids look the same doesnt me we have to Eat what VI gives us, dare to be original.
/boggle <Druid's name here> Not all Druids look the same, some have normal colored leather while others have black, dark brown, or green(pants I think).
Thommus Dhali'Lawless Hobbit Thief of the 23rd Poisoning <Hand of Mana> The Nameless Server
"Thommus begins to cast a spell." "Thommus's image shimmers." Thommus is now uber.
if ya wanna look different..get an IcePaw Warclaw as soon as possible... better ratio than a Crystalized Shadow Scimmy, and it looks awesome on a Druid...(also finishes snare/almostdead creatures much faster...went from 15 to 21 max..nothing to write home about, but when ya actually use and your skill goes up, hitting for 19 over and over is nice)
I also wear BCP(you should know what that looks like), Boneplate Leggings (chain), Ulthork Hide on my arms/wrists (the gold lining is nice), Gem-Inlaid Gauntlets (don't cover hole hand, but look cool with chain covering just the back of the hand...especially on my claw hand..(like the metal holes Wolverine's claws are supposed to come out of)...looking for Gnome Skin Boots to finish off the "I don't wanna look like a Druid Newb" ensemble..
Finally, knowing the Claw is 9/24 (25?), so it's almost as good...I'd still love to have this scimmy for the look...heh, got a high level Druid in guild...I think she's already got her Epic...maybe if this ever turns up, I'll have a chance on it...
If you wanna look different work for it. I did, and im set out in almost full visible verumicated(Fear armor. And now i look like a ranger, with my claw, nothing in secondary, and my green armor. I have not yet seen one druid that looks like me. Possibly ones with Skyshrine armor(i think thats green..) and PoH. I really want PoH armor.. looks awesome. But anyway, you dont have to spend money to look different. Just time.
Ok this is what ya do..... work on smithing or get a smith friend and get the culture armor cuz it looks cool with chaingraphics on druids and you look more ranger than dru then plus the stats are nice
I have been told many times that im a ranger not druid until I was inspected thurilly (sp?) and laughed at the thought
Ropadope Doponarope (love the name =}) 45th Treehugger of Tunare Quellious Server
P.S. dont flame a class til you see what all there good points are
lol - I look like a tank =) like I am wearing all plate... Druids go thru a few stages
Leather look - more leather look =( - Special lookin leather like kromrif legs, and such - plate look (gladiator chain legs, square helm) - finaly is the "GREEN" look =) which is our destination lol
oh boy us druids finaly get a truly pointless wepon in higher lvls. yes now every one can stop complyning about the good stuff we get...and one final not it looks stupid as well Valnas Grassrunner Druid of the 20th circle
why dont you complain about an item that you might possibly be able to go out and get yourself without having to twink. not every druid has the capability to get epic, and not every druid is lucky enough to win other weapons on raids or in groups. some people actually hunt on their own or with a certain group and keep stuff they get because they earned it not because they got while to be twinked or just because no one wanted. Is every new item put in the game supposed to please every person in the game, no cause its not possible. Instead of complaining about it go out and get yourself better and stfu, thanks for stopping by please come back again.
If this weapon actually procs when most Druids are still meleeing (I'm thinking <25), this is a great twink weapon. Well, actually, even if it doesn't proc, it's a great twink weapon. Otherwise, I can't imagine wielding it. The only time I'll carry an actual weapon in my primary hand again is when I have the Nature Walker's Scimi =) Just too much other good primary slot stuff...

So unfair, jeez, monk item monk item monk item monk item monk item monk item!

Here here! I know there are many young eq players who are a long way from learning the difference from "slang - lingo" and ignorant bigotry.. but all too often I see the use of various terms which amount to 'homosexual' used by players who I think really mean to say something like 'uncool' or 'dumb'. There is nothing whatsoever inheirently uncool or dumb about homosexuals. If anything its the homophobes who have the corner on the dumb & uncool market. =( Back on subject for this scimiter.. Does it really proc for druids as low as 25? amazing if true - especially when the spell effect is a 49th level druid spell! I can see the contrversy over the usefulness of the proc on the weapon.. roots negating snare.. & making low HP mobs stay and continue fighting and all.. and yet, if you are prepared for it then that does not have to be a bad thing. Getting hit occasionally is, after all, the only way your defensive skill will improve. I am sure there are other ways that a root proc would be a very good thing for a crafty druid to take advantage of. I would certainly not scoff at this item simply over a mixed blessing proc! Its still a great weapon I would employ with joy.
this is a random proc. kind of makes it hard to use on a mob if its down to nothing and stationary cause its snared. once you root it though it will start hitting you again, on the other hand engulfing roots has a 160 point dd too so this might be worth a ton this would be every warriors dream sword for agro, to bad they cant use it :) man hehe and our epic is a rather nice 1hs also. shhh dont tell VI very nice weapon all in all though, very nice!
Not that it really has anything at all to do with the Oakleaf Scimitar, but in response to the above post, I know a wood elf druid on Tunare named Aboxorox, and think it's funny you should mention that =)
/em is sorry that his post had nothing to do with the Oakleaf Scimitar or how you can camp it.
