If anyone is still having trouble finding the guardian in WW try tracking along the water. I found it along the boarder with about 15 other mobs just stuck to the wall. Hope that helps
This quest is still active. With the Hole revamp, there are 2 Conscipts (sp) that spawn next to Master fo the Seal. The ore is on the Conscripts. You can drop from Panieel and not get aggro as the only things in the room are Nortlav in his new form and the 3 mobs where Master Yeal used to be. Hope that clears up questions on this quest.
Not correct. The Ore drops off the Guardian of the Seal. I have it and it dropped from of him, my guild one groups him all the time and we kill the guards and they never drop it.

What guardians? Can someone elaborate please? I plan on doing this quest soon and the Hole will be my hang-up. I posted on the quest thread also and would like to know what has changed since the revamp. Thank you =)
*Edited spelling*
Ulic - 57th Warrior of Rallos Zek Salkan - 54th Druid of Tunare Crocodillia - 51st Shaman of CT Torvo
I'm a 65 Warrior and I went and quested this item. This item is very good for warriors especially for how easy the quest is. Except for camping Phinny, the other ores are too easy. Yael is overrated, the guy in WW is easy (ranger tracker) and the other you pick up off the ground in Skyfire. I'll take 100 more hp any day.
Okay I have had all drops except the one from Guardian Kozzalym in WW for some time now.
Master Yael was not a problem at all, you just need to track him which is very easy. Ok he is rare spawn but so what at least you know how to track him.
Phinny is more than gimp and easy, you track him and kill. He is 12 hour spawn so no problemo.
Skyfire ground spawn is a laff hehe
GUARDIAN KOZZALYM?? Who the (#¤/U¤/ is that? You claim "he is always up" but he is not. Try to track him and see. I have got help from LOTS of ranger lvl 60+ they have ran around in the zone many times. He is DEFININTELY not up "all the time" hehehe, he must be as rare as Master Yael.
Some people claim Master Yael is the bottle-neck but thats not true, talk to ANY high level who is doing this quest, they usually end up with having all items EXCEPT the one from Guardian Kozzalym...
So please could anyone give any good, effective and reliable information about this Guardian Kozzalym? How rare is he? How do you track him? I heard you need see invis in order to track him but still that is not enough. We know exactly how to track all other mobs in this quest, but not this one.
Please if someone can help here, i would really appreciate it.
He has an interesting but easy path. he starts somewhere in the very north east. And heads west. Then right past the pirate boat he goes in the water and poofs back to his spawn spot in the ne corner.
Best place to sit for him is between last dragon nest and the gnome pirate boat. And youll see him pass there every 10 min or so before he heads down the cliff into the water
BTW, what do you mean with last dragon camp? is it the one far up north located close to NW corner of map? or the one located close to NE corner of map?
I often see him up in WW. My group tried to kill him once but it turned ugly. Apparently the dragons there assist him so... we were killing this seemingly easy mob and then someone was like "OH CRAP ADD BUFA (that may not be the one)" and then we all got creamed. When we attacked him he was near where the guards spawn (slain dragon corpse things).
We did a simple raid at Hole on 12/7 while Master Yael is up. We make way inside and kill Jael the Insane , Ghost of Kindle for the Ranger and Enchanter in group for their epic. Then We head to Yael's position. All of us dont know how tough Yael is and we decide let a 45wizard be a decoy ,he try shoot a spell aggro him and suddenly we hear a zone wide shout from Yael " Jackh! " (the poor wizzy's name) and then Jackh died. I am the puller so I try pull him to our MA during his Death Touch refreshing time ( 30secs ), ok soon our MA down by DT ,then my turn. I am glad to hear they cheer after I back to bind point , I know we made him. I be rezzed and loot the Ore from him. He drops Brell Girdle and Sword.
So do you have to be better than indifferent to do the quest? I am pretty sure I am not liked at all by Sol Ro faction minded peeps as I am an Iksar. I don't want to waste my time chasing after this if it can't be done with sneak to do the turn in. Thanks in advance for any info :)
Just a small note... everyone starts indifferent to Sol Ro faction reguardless of race/diety/class. Furthermore, if by some odd occurance that you kill one of the mobs that hurt this faction (The wierd Shadowed man in Timorous, or Mistmoore, or any of the peps inside Sol Ro Temple) or hail the efreeti at the bottom of the temple, you can very easily raise this faction again by killing shadowed men in any number of places.
We took phinny down last night with 5 people... 54 wiz, 53 cleric, 57 bard, 60 wiz, 60 warrior... easy fight wizzy was able to solo pull the seahorses and then phinny... unfortunantly he did not drop the wizzy staff or bard spine ;( 2 shaman rods, and the coral..blah
Symphonic Distortion Hero of the Coldain, Bard of Crimson Eternity
Very useful for the high end game - the elemental resists are on a par with the Elemental blanket (shame theres no MR, but by the time you're in NToV should should have MR through the roof anyway). The extra 100 hps are pretty good for those pesky AEs that sometimes leek through, and for the unresistable stuff like Klandi. Its an extra 1/3 of a click on a mod2 rod as well :) AC and Str? /shrug. AC won't save a dress-wearing wizard like myself from dragon melee, but if I get in that situation I deserve it for overnuking in the first place. Only thing Str is good for on a caster is carrying more sets of clothing for a wider choice of encounters. With an extra 15 str I could probably tout around all my resist gear at once. I'm not disputing who it would be best for - of course pullers and melee would get a lot out of this too. Its's ALL/ALL. Oh, and with a solid group of well equipped mid-fifties who don't act like complete noobs, Phinney is cake. I assume that the 2nd Age raid force was 45-50? Those levels alone would certainly make the encounter considerable more challenging.
LOL - I hear ya I just got off - got the fusable core on a pick up group just now... heard the shoulders were good, yup they are, we had a war, cleric, druid, bard and me (Rogue). Phinny was easier than the CH seahorses, but they all died anyhow...lol.

Posted:Nov 09 2001 at 10:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Fusible earthen ore can be obtained without killing Yael. The ore is a ground spawn in his lair, right next to the (alleged) portal to Underfoot. If Master Yael is not at home, it does not take much of a raid to get it. I personally have gathered it with a lvl 4 rogue. ... makes a good light source.
It was a ground spawn when the quest was first implemented, but they changed it to a drop of yael himself. can i ask when you got the ore as a groundspawn?
You've already made yoursellf look like an idiot twice. Don't go for the hat trick. Fusible earthen ore is no longer a ground spawn, it drops off Yael.
He's right though that NPCs pick up items that lie close to them. I saw it with my own eyes twice (or better read it). When I was a wee broodling I was hunting in Overthere, foraged some fishing grubs (or similar uselss stuff) and dropped it onto the ground near the female Clok standing by the small pond. Much to my surprise she picked the item up and said something among the lines like "another useless trinket to sell".
No matter whether one percieves the mobs requred to get this as uber or not, there is one major deciding factor. Yeal is a 7 day spawn and feel free to correct me but I don't believe he pops whent he server does. That limits it to, at most, 4 Strength of the Elements a month on any given server. Thats epic bottleneck level frequency.

Phinny was a joke for one group. your guild that got 22 people wiped in kedge must have been pure unadulterated gimpness. Guy in WW has been done with one 60war and one 60cleric. uber? eeeeyeah
actually, the information on AlKabor's diary deals with the SoL portal being opened by Al'Kabor--specifically an event in BW that I witnessed and was given a nifty earing for letting him kill and rez my cleric friend 8b. As for Makil Rargon, he is a student of Al's (heh al) working on techniques to test the material that Al'Kabor found in BW.
This item is really best for primary tanks and primary pullers. 100hp for the AC sacrifice (and better weight) blows away IGS, especially for the large races (cough, Ogre) who can't wear IGS to begin with! 100hp on any item is quite nice for primary tanks, and I keep hearing those monks like HP too for some odd reason. The weight isn't unbearable. Definitely save for the short and big races first, those who can't wear IGS in the first place. It's a HUGE upgrade from Tattered Mantle, and only marginal upgrade from IGS. Ubah!
But seriously, if someone was doing this quest and already had started it, any guild or pickup raid would let that person roll on an item for the quest. Would just be wrong to give preference to a class for a QUEST ITEM.
Considering this is a quest item it's best for whoever chooses to undertake the quest. It's not like it's a mob dropped item which has to NBG'd. These are the best shoulders in game for a necro. HP gear is all necro's look for after 200 int(which can be gotten with 4 items). I can see shammies going ape over this item as well.
Partially correct, but the Quest Components drop off Uber mobs, not just any old wandering orc pawn, so it takes a big raid to get them. As such, the items should be reserved for primary tank/puller instead -- just as these days on Vox raids the Scale is often available for a Bard willing to substitute a suitable cloak if they don't win the Roll.
Uber mobs? I don't really consider phini, a ground spawn, Yael or the Guardian anything like an "uber" mob. Phini was easily done w/ 5 or 6 ppl pre-kunark. Ground spawn can easily be done solo. Yael 2, maybe 3 groups, it's been awhile since I have keeled him. Everything I have seen on the guardian suggests 1-2 groups for him also. 2 group mobs aren't uber to me. Just my thoughts.
K. I won't rant, this time. Short, sweet, to the point..
Yeah dude, 12-18, or 24 people is pretty much an uber mob. Many people lack the resources to just sort of roam the face of norrath and kill stuff whenever they please, with just a simple "phone call".
Additionally, those who DO have such resources.. this sort of thing pretty much would be "easy" to get.
By "phini" I can only assume you mean the boss of Kedge Keep. Since I don't know any better (or any other npcs with such a name). Uh.. a WHILE ago I was in Second Age on Cazic Thule. K. It's NEVER been a small guild. It's one of the larger guilds on Cazic Thule even today. When people hear about my leaving that guild, they think I'm crazy.
So. My point? 22 of us in Second Age went to Kedge Keep one night, and couldn't even deal with the seahorses due to 1 bad pull. 22 freaking people. And you think the BOSS is easy? Dude. You must be talking 5-6 people with equipment such as: Cleric in full planes gear, with manastone, enchanter with maxed gear/stats, damn good tank, etc etc.. uh.. it's not easy getting A character maxed, or near maxed, or whatever let alone a whole party.. yea, yer post is pretty much shot full of holes dude, sorry.
Try taking LESS people next time. You take 22 people, somebody's gonna be a moron and get you all killed. One group, assemble at zone, have a CoH mage (shouldnt be hard to find a mage that wants to help kill Phin....), mage invises and swims to safe hall below Phinny's lair, CoH's group. Puller grabs horses from upper rim of lair, keel. Puller floats down center of hole in floor till Phin agroes, if he's careful, and he's 59+, Phin will come solo. Keel him
FYI my guild constantly kills Phinny with 2 groups and noone dies. just have a lvl 60 puller so you don't get adds. and don't fight your way down, invis or coh, MUCH easier
Personally I wouldn't have a clue how to organize a phinny raid but I've been in dozens of phinny kills with between 6 and 12 people casually going about things.
By the time you should be on the raids needed for this quest, your guild mates will be in mostly planar armor or better. If you're ready to go bouncing about West Wastes, which one of these kills is in, you're really talking about an average level of 55 or better.
just took phinny out..... 62 wizzy/52wizzy/ 58 bard, 58 monk, 55 shammy, 59 chanter...... only ever had to do 1 healing wave of prexus and killed him in less than 2 minutesand we aren't all decked out un "uber" gear. droped robe and ore... just takes a good monk puller
