Don't even need a full group. A 22 Troll SK, a 23 Halfling Druid and Me (a 22 Barbarian Shaman), took him and his 2 Ogre guards down the other night. It was a tough fight, took all our mana and most of our health. He dropped this spear, shame it's no-drop.
The only reason anyone would wanna use it is for the WIS in range slot.. The stats on the weap suck.. Shammies would be smart to use a harpoon of the depths from lake of ill omen (people give them away there, they're lore) until they can afford a spine chill spear, and keep this in range.. With a testament of vanear that's 18 wis in the melee slots..

Spine chill is a lot easier to get now..... Price anyways. I know that I bought mine on Rodcet Nife for only 500pp which is a pretty good deal considering I had sold my Velium Etched stone mace for 600pp earlier.

I was with a lvl 40 shammy hunting grush and myself hunting the captain for bronze.
I soloed him when i wnet looking around by myself.
i am lvl 33 had to use LoH.
We kill him 8 times in total.
Twice he droped a spear
"a Fine Steel Spear"
I belive it has been replaced with this trash. I tell you that the shammy was disapointed.

now, don't you rogues start this whole mess like the monks did. i don't want to see every rogue running about crying about how every piercing weapon has to be rogue useable. get over it.

hehhe i was goofing around in Najena when this guard agroed me, he is a tough hitter and could cause problems for a group of 30's. The biggest problem is his buddies they will aggro right after you kill him. Nice weopon but fairly low bonusus for the level it takes to kill the MOB. My 2 copper.

This item can be retrieved from Najena with a group of high teens and low twenties without too much difficulty. Just watch out for the visiting priestess...
