ok. i tend to agree. the object is to make yourself better and have fun doing it. i personally am probly the slowest ding in norath. i watch peeps i give stuff at lvl 3 go to lvl 65 and join the uber guilds. and i'm still in the low end of 50's. my object is to play the game. hunt and work skills, get an item i want, and rince and repeat. my friends on this game are almost all in my guild...until they outding us. but we are close enough now that we still hunt (and fish) togeather. 4 years, and hoping to be here 4 more. :)

stay safe and play nice folks.

Regarding the stats...

When mob's are casting AE's tha reduce stats by 200, it's good to still be able to have max stats when you get hit by them. :) There's a good reason for items still having stat bonuses like that.

Well, I'm in Inku'ta and have no where near this type of gear, ornate arms still!

You know... this is getting pointless.... why not just make items with 300+ to all stats/saves/etc?

By the time you get to this point in the game... would the stats really matter any more?? If you didn't have maxxed stats, there'd have to be something wrong...

Looking at all the stats on these things, my eyes are just sort of glazing over... what's the point anymore?

In Uqua, the Barxt event that flags you for Qvic (think Elem Flagged), as soon as you enter the zone you get hit with a Zone Wide AoE that lowers your Stats ( ) permanently until you progress far enough, on a timer, and win the fight that turns off the AoE...making even the best equipped players noobs in the eyes of Barxt... (I'm talking negative stats here...so the higher the stats you have the better...this is where being over the cap, WAY over the cap, becomes invaluable)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 06 2004 at 9:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Go back and look at the velious/luclin/pop era high end loot and you will notice that +25 to stats has been the norm for a while. The only things that increase on items throughout the years has been HP, Mana, AC, and Resists. In my honest opinion I think this scales very well with the content. We need more HP/Mana/AC than we did for PoP and everything previous.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 29 2004 at 10:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah I think they should raise the stat cap and/or decrease the stats on gear (while keeping HP/mana/End the same).

good point
though i think that soe has this in mind with the design of uqua "zone wide debuff -300 to all stats, if i remmber corectly"

but playing a cleric and haveing maxed just about everything, 7k hp raid buffed "not alot next to many other clerics i know", it does seem pointless, and i do find my self only playing to kill the new chalange put up for us, & chat with my friends. /shrug. soe better have an ace up there sleeve=P

zzzzzzzzzzzz...

I think, this is an idea/opinion so please be kind in your flaming, the stats on these items were probably made for people that were supposed to be lvl 70. So if we follow that line of thinking, we can guess that the stat cap will be raised by at least 50 (maybe more, I am guessing here) so then people would need to squeeze out a few more points for each slot. Would I want these? No actually I don't play a plate class, but I wouldn't mind similar for my shammy. Does it seem like EQ is just a bored DM handing out +5 Holy Avengers; yeah kind of, but a lvl 70 person may be able to use and need this lvl of equipment for the future stuff to come out. Will I? probably not, to many AA's to work on in 65 to worry about more stuff, but some people will want to keep going further and deeper in.

Just my 2cp.

Perhaps it's about the challenge. Sometimes it's about getting there, not what you get.

When you see an item it's easy to just glaze over and forget about the hours it might take to work out a strategy to succeede and the reward that success is in its own right.

For me, and others who continue to play, I think that is the point, the challenge. I guess it reallly depends on why you play. If it's just for gear and max stats you're sure to be dissapointed.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 22 2004 at 1:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You said "For me, and others who continue to play, I think that is the point, the challenge." I can't disagree more. after over 5 years of playing, and I got very far, I would rather log on chat with my friends and have a little fun. this guy is saying "whats the point?". why not just make one item with all the stats you need. you can still kill any mob for the challenge if you want. I agree with the poster, too bad I can't rate him higher a second time.
