I may be wrong, but I do believe he meant that comment to say your skin would be red from getting spanked so much (read the sentence before). I don't think he meant it as a racial slur towards Native Americans although that is what the team got the name from. But in the context he said it, I think he meant you'd have a nice red butt after all the spankings from the taunt from this thing.

This should've been named, "Mrylokar's Dagger of that Little Black Stain that Used to be a Rogue". One BS and one proc off this thing will get you bent over a mob's knee and spanked. Hell, you might even earn a nickname like "Washington Redskins" with a weapon like this (at least you'll have an offense).
Really nice weapon. Hopefully, the rogues that obtain it have enough experience to avoid getting killed immediately while using it. That, and a healthy relationship with a few high-level clerics.

Just to second what the good person above said, Rogues ARE supposed to be the biggest damage dealers, so a weapon or two like this is essential to make up for all our downpoints (which i wont go into)

Good on ya VI for giving us a break, and come give me one for free for actually sticking up for you for a change

Yea, this is a great weapon and good for Verant for making it and keeping it un nerfed, but the question that everyone has it, how many people will actually see thsi dagger, even inspecting someone else? That's where it all comes into play. I know I'm not gonna have a chanse in hell to even inspect someone with it, but hey, at there are no Monks ripping about this is a Monk weapon and Rogues suck.

See. The Mrylokar's dagger company was getting tired of Verant limiting there sales by claiming there daggers to be to powerful and saying that their company was causing a monopoloy on all the other companies. So, The Mrylokar's dagger co. (MDC) got very angry and make a brand new dagger called Mrylokar's Dagger of Vengeance. They are hoping to see if the sells on this 1 will live up to the others.

I can't believe that this weapon is Rogue only, what frikkin rip-off!! I've played this game for at least 2 months so I should know that this totally unfair to my level 27 warrior and level 4 druid. This weapon should either be all/all or should be nerfed so that rogues aren't more powerful than me. I can just see it now... every rogue on my server running around with one of these hitting for more than i do with my fine steel short sword. Why don't they just give rogues the ability to Death Touch and Teleport anywhere while they're at it. Nerf it! Nerf it! Nnneeeeerrrrrfffff Ittttt!!!!

I seriously hope you were trying to be funny. Rogues ARE NOT at a supreme advantage... I hope it wasn't a person like you who got the first dagger so nerfed!!! Stop ranting about how your so po'ed that rogues actually have a point in the high lvls, unlike the low lvls, where they are completely ignored. Almost all rogues can remember being rejected by a hunting party because rogues supposedly stink at low lvls.
"Can I join your group in the hopes of ever becoming one of those so overpowered high lvl chars?"
"Whats your class?"
"Rogue... but-"
"Sry"
ugh... now im ranting, but people just shouldn't make judgements like that on things they don't understand... sry, just couldn't stop myself from exploding this time, being a rogue with some hopes of having stuff to look forward to like other classes at high lvls...
just my 2cp - I hope noone gets offended by this, this is just how I feel on the issue

Okay, first of all let me tell you that Myro armor is rogue only, so it makes perfect sense that this would be a rogue only weapon. Verant has also stated that they want rogues to be the highest damage dealing class in the game...This makes perfect sense to be a rogue weapon...Wait till you see a level 60 rogue assassinate his/her victim for 32,000 hps...Then you'll see why this weapon kicks *** for rogues only :)

I remember the first time I ever heard the "Why did the chicken cross the road?" joke. Man, I thought that was funny. And then the kid that told it to me came up with a new one...."Why did the giraffe cross the road?" - same punchline. Thought that was kind of funny. Then he came up with the 'ol, "Why did the anteater cross the road?" and it wasn't quite so funny.
This kid basically went through Noah's inventory of creatures crossing the road - same punchline every time. After a while, the same old joke just isn't funny anymore. After a while, I was ready to give him my own, personal punchline.
I don't know what kind of reaction people expect from these kinds of posts.
"Oh look, another ***-backward newbie that doesn't know his *** from his elbow! Oh, the side-splitting, ironical hysteria! He wishes to twink with a 'no-drop' item that can't be used by his class and is almost impossible to get! My my my, will these crazy newbies ever learn?"
Sorry, its not funny anymore.

I think that the original poster is mocking the idea that complaints on a message board are going to get something nerfed. Do you honestly think the people at Verant, for whom this is a full time job and not a hobby, are going to be sitting there reading this board and nerfing things because "we" say so?

Picture this...
We are in the Verant offices...
Programmer Bob is sitting at his computer...

Bob: "What's this? Hey guys come in here, somebody's complaining about this dagger. Wow...when we were developing this we really didn't think people would get so upset. Look this guy is even using foul language to describe our mothers. Quick nerf it before they make another attempt at hurting our feelings."

The people at Verant do this for a living. The very fact that we are sitting here looking at this messageboard more than two years after the game was initially realeased is an indication of how good a job they do.

With the haste effect factored in, the delay on RB comes out to about 17.86. It should also be noted that you cannot be hasted more than 100% or 80% before level 50. So if you have say a 45% haste (yes these exist) item and have Speed of the Shissar (66% haste) then there is no need for the haste from RB. So if you can max your haste then that makes this better, but don't take it from me
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 25 2001 at 8:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yer all idiots, you don't do .40 (40%haste) by 25, if you have a 100% that means yer 2 times as fast, or your delay is half of what it used to be, so the RB would turn into a 15/12.5 with a 100% haste

OK If anyone on any server could kill vulaak(Bad speller) he would most likely have His/her RB, but please dont try to calculate the dly on a RB when equiped. it has 15dmg and 25dly, the RB has 40% haste on it. that lowers the delay alot but not even close to 7.5 or 10 or whatever you block heads above posted. But most likely anyone who could Loot this MAGNIFICENT dagger would not even be using a RB in either melee slots. Most likely.

All rogues do the most damaging single blows by level 30. When in the right situation they can be the most damaging for a fight as well.

your typical rogue by level 30 will still get owned in a single blow by a wizard, i beleive a mage, and likely a druid.

add in the other melee damage that is nearly always occuring though and rogues beat them out by a long shot.

We are, under the right conditions, the best damage dealers. Monks/mage/wiz have better damage output in general conditions, but if we're with a good tank, and the mob's back is to we rogues will take the bacon. And not just by pickpocketing it either. ;)

RE: Backstabs
# Oct 25 2001 at 7:27 PM Rating: Decent
Actualy, RB is 15/25 with a 40% haste.
So when you multply 25 by .40 ( 40% ) you get 10.
Then you have to Subtract the 10 (40%) from the 25 to get a delay of 15.

So 15/25 with a 40% haste would be a 15/15.

This one with BR on the other hand, would be 15/19 with a 40% haste would be ( 19 * .40 (40%)= 7.6. Subtract the 7.6 from 19 and you would get 11.4. For a grant total of 15/11.4 with RB in one of the 2 hands
RE: Backstabs
# Oct 26 2001 at 4:43 PM Rating: Excellent
Didn't everyone already have this discussion when RB was posted? :)

Unless the old info was wrong, 40% haste increases attacks by 40%. That is NOT the same as reducing delay by 40% (increasing attacks by 100% = reducing delay by 50%, for example).

To recap, RB is 15/25, but with 40% haste:

60 s/min x 1 attack/2.5 s = 24 attacks/min
24 attacks/min x 1.4 = 33.6 attacks/min hasted
33.6 attacks/min x 1 min/60 s = 1 attack/[A] s
[A] = 1.786 s
[hasted delay] = 10[A] = 17.86

This is without double attack, attack buff from Seething Fury, etc., and assuming Delay = 10 x [actual delay in seconds].

Now, Mrylokar's Dagger of Vengeance (15/19) with 40% haste:

60 s/min x 1 attack/1.9 s = 31.579 attacks/min
31.579 attacks/min x 1.4 = 44.211 attacks/min hasted
44.211 attacks/min x 1 min/60 s = 1 attack/[A] s
[A] = 1.357 s
[hasted delay] = 10[A] = 13.57

So after 40% haste:

Ragebringer - 15/17.86
Mrylokar's Dagger of Vengeance - 15/13.57

This is similar to what Fyrewalker posted, only this also gives the accurate damage and delay, not just the ratio between them.

Now I just need to quit my job and join an uberguild so I can get one. :)

Thank you for picking up where I left off. I would have included the exact formulas, but I didn't have them on me, and I didn't feel like looking for them.

Haste is VERY nice, don't get me wrong, but I think a lot of people place too much value on it. This is especially true in the case of the rogue, because your most damaging ability is just that: an ability. You click the hotkey, you backstab for 500+dmg. Whether or not you throw in a couple stabs for 40dmg a pop after that is certainly important, and can help take down big mobs, but its not going to win or lose a battle.

Its like Monks thinking that they need to be hasted to hell. The biggest thing we're there for is to: 1) Pull, 2) Do a little dmg to help out the real tanks, and 3) FD in case of trouble for corpse retrievals. (In a raid scenario at least).

The people who mainly need haste are warriors, because they are trying to hit as MANY times as possible to draw more aggro than anyone else there. Combine this with AC and that is what warriors need to focus on, post-50 at least.

As to this sticker; yeah, its nice. Just about every rogue I know would step over their own mother to get one (they are rogues afterall), and yeah it can help you do more damage.

BUT, you'll never replace a warrior, you'll never be able to feign death (and if they let you do that in Lucin I'm quitting the game straight out hehehe), and frankly, just remember that the only BS we need from you is the one provided by that shank of metal in your grubby little fist.

Good luck rogues! Go get it!
RE: Backstabs
# Oct 26 2001 at 2:31 AM Rating: Default
ACTUALLY, haste effects should be multiplied by the dmg to get the new ratio. Instead of 25 * .40 it should be 15 * 1.40 to get the new dmg/dly, which would be 21/25, not 15/15.

The new ratio on this would be 21dmg/25dly with 40% haste, and that doesn't mean higher base dmg, that just means that if you take that ratio 21:25, and plug it into the formula for dmg/sec, you get the new dmg/sec ratio, accurately reflecting the haste level. Same goes for the second formula you stated above. Instead of (19*.40(.40))=7.6, it would be (15*1.40(1.40))= 29.4, which makes it 29.4dmg/19dly. Damned good, and I'm not sure that your formula is correct, or what Verant's capper on Haste is...but who the hell knows anything about Verant anymore...they say its one thing, parcing shows another, no one knows...

I doubt even Verant knows 8) I think they just had a nerd punch in some #'s and called it good.

My re-enactment of the birth of Haste:

********

A_VerantNerd_01 says, "Hey, lets just ***** with these numbers and then go get a Coke(tm)."
A_VerantNerd_01 begins to cast a spell.
The_VerantHorde_00 says, "Just tell them Haste makes them do more damage! And then nerf something!"
The_VerantHorde_00 is surrounded in a scum-like aura!
The_VerantHorde_00 begins to cast a spell.
All Rogue equipment receives a nerf!

********

There you have it.
