As an SK in a guild actively killing in NToV, this is nothing special for me, a warrior would be crazzy for wanting this. I know I would not want to be wasting my range slot onthis on a NBG system, basicly eliminatiing me from getting something better for a long time, or burning my DKP points an this as it is solo/tradeskill where I would use this most.

Did all of youse notice that this may be a very good item but prolly 1-3% of all players will actually get into this zone?!
this is one of the most uber zones in the game i belive its the 2nd or 3rd toughest (sleeper's tomb being first of course) and some of the most uber loots in the game are found here such as this nice range item the wis and int for trade skills (or mana if your a caster or hybrid)

Sleepers tomb is cake... Just sleeper is hard, Sleepers tomb is do-able with 3 ish groups Post sleeper awakening. NToV is way harder.

Did you all notice that this bad boy can go in range slot? That makes it one of the best caster / hybrid range slot items in the game. I would use this eye with pride on any one of my characters, except maybe my warrior.

All North ToV Range items have decent AC, which does not make them all tank items.

Thunderstone, Nev's Left/right eye, Vyemm's left/right eye, Hand of the Master, etc.

All have Nice AC, and in reality, they are good for everyone. Some may have more mana, and as a tank i would want Hand of the Master over a Vyemm eye, but it just depends on how the guild does loot. Im my guild they have gone to a druid, cleric, and a chanter, using a DKP System(Points system).

So, you say that wizards and magicians dont need this item because it gives ac? that is poor logic my friend

and its not worthless for any wisdom or int caster, unless they have better. About half the casters youll see on ToV raids will have worse than this, unless you are in a guild that spends 99% of its time in ToV,though i have seen plenty of guilds that do that. Still, there is at least a few casters that would want this, it could go to any wis or int caster, not that hot for a tank, even though it has nice ac. But its all all anyway, so let the raid leader decide. Most tanks you would see would have better by the time yer killing Vyemm, though it is possible it would go to tank.

I have this item and...well, it's awsome. I'd say it would be an outstanding upgrade to any wiz/int caster unless they have better and the odds of having better than this are slim.

Lets see:

All - any class
All - any race
Stats - good

This would be wasted on dumbass/players that have no idea about what they are talking about.

I'm glad that so many people make comments on stuff that they have absolutely no clue of what they're talkin about.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 23 2001 at 3:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So there were two rangers(blue and yellow con to me) and an Erud Sk at the giant fort in FM, and they say to me (27 rogue here) hey, wanna join? And im like, so whos the healer, and the sk is like, oh we have 2 rangers. and who is the main tank? and he is like, oh thats me (26-27 erud SK in Chain and using a crappy weapon) and im like uh no thanks 8/. So i log and come back in 10-15 minutes and lo' and behold the corpses of 2 rangers and an erud sk sprawled about in a neat circle. Yea the moral of the story is, you need a healer and a tank not rangers, although rangers know how to deal dmg they git hit a lot, and erud sk's in banded can't tank giants, just dont happen.

I would like to say this would be good for anyone any class any race just like most items (and when I say most I know that some items that drop in ToV are better for some classes then other.) that drop in ToV that are range slot. At the lvl you need to attain this item it takes a lot of stats to out do what most people have. So it is not surprising that anyone that was there to help kill the monster could use it or most items would rot.
A monk item?

Don't get me wrong. I would love to have this item for my 53 monk (and yes, I know that 53 is too low for north ToV), BUT it is obviously a healer/caster item. Besides, there are better range slot items for monks in ToV. The "low weight equals monk item" rule does not apply in ToV or Sleeper's Tomb where there is so much ultra light weight equipment that is extremely uber.

Of course I realize you guys were just joking about this being a monk item, but I wanted to head off all the flamers that have no sense of humor and wouldn't realize you were joking.
this item would be great even for the village idiot

Yeppers, that's a pretty good hybrid item. Even though it's all/all, they have better stuff for pure casters and priests in the range slot by then *cough* silver dagger of destruction *cough*. Also, as a monk myself, I'm not very attracted to that item, the AC and weight is nice, but I don't need mana, wisdom, or intelligence, heh. Rock on Shadowknights... and to a lesser degree Paladins. No offense to any paladins, I just like SKs more. =D
Peace out people.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 23 2001 at 4:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What about rangers? If someone could ever remember a freaking ranger. Perhaps verant should realize how weak we are, and how many people forget about us and throw us some extra easy armor, higher resists, more hp, more damage, more ac, and better spells. Then we could do something!
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 23 2001 at 5:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You rangers can do something....die. You are half warrior, half the most useless caster in game. If they'd give you evac then maybe you'd be usefull.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 29 2001 at 1:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hello mr.anonymous you say ranger are useless eh? well first they are 3/4 warrior and 1/4 druid oh btw druid are not useless I am a druid and i usually am the main healer even with a cleric in our group your jerk! YOUR EVEN MORE ARROGANT THAT ME IF YOU WERE ON VALLON I WOULD EXP KILL YOU SA FAST IT WOULD NOT EVEN BE FUNNY AFTER THE 100000TH TIME YOU GOT THAT AND IF YOU WERE IN MY GROUP I WOULD SNARE YOU AND NOT HEAL YOU. YOU WOULD BE ON YOUR OWN LITTLE MAN! I HOPE THAT YOU GO TO HELL... now that i got that off my chest Ranger are one of the most useful classes ever they can be a last resort healer or after fight healer when druid/cleric/shaman is OOM plus they can free up a spell slot for snare. they nuke very good also they have the most direct dmg capibility of all the hybrid classes in the game.

In the thinking that rangers are a useless class, you certainly show your naivete, Mr. Anonymous. Rangers are able to snare, DD, DoT, buff. Granted they can't do these things as well as some other classes, but they do it a hell of alot better than a warrior or a monk.
God, people that flame classes **** me off. I don't play a ranger, but I've always liked grouping with them. Their AC isn't as high as a warrior, but its higher than a monk. Monks are great to have in a group, but they're high maintenance - they need constant medical attention to keep them from dying. Rangers are pretty much self-sufficient. On top of which, they just might save your cleric's *** - your monk and warrior would have to helplessly watch him die. A ranger's ability to deal damage isn't as high as a monk, but they can out-damage a warrior.
I think rangers get a bad rap. They're underappreciated because people feel that they don't fill any specific niche. People don't realize that they can pretty much pick up the slack in any area that its needed. I'd love to hear what you think of bards or shamen, Mr. Anonymous. Obviously, you don't see any value in the 'support' classes. If the specialty of a class is not to tank or heal, then it sucks - right?
I think this would be a great item for a ranger. Matter of fact, I think this item should go to a ranger first, if for no other reason than to **** you off. Dumbass.

Amen! Finally someone posts something about the usefulness of rangers.

I'm now just in my 30's (chanter) and I've discovered the light of having a ranger in my group. They snare, they SoW, they deal out great damage, they tank (not quite as well as a warrior), they track, they fizzle healing spells (sorry, just remembering my last group - LOL), they do many thing very well. Not necessarily as well as the primary classes each skill belongs to, but close enough to make a huge difference.

I've been finding that I'm preferring rangers in a group over druids lately. About the only time I want a druid over a ranger is if we have no healer. I'll even take a shammy over a druid but that's not the point of this message thread. :)

Don't be knocking a ranger that knows what they're doing. They're a priceless addition to a group if you don't have a full set of "pure" classes to work with. And even if you do, they make an awesome secondary melee char to do great damage...

rangers are self sufficient? rangers don't need constant medical attention? obviously, you are an idiot who only reads about the game at message boards.

Actually, with all of my characters combined I've gone through over 150 levels, with characters including (but not limited to) a 50+ Druid and a 50+ bard.
While its true that I don't play anymore, I still like to see whats new. And I do like to air out my opinions on the boards.
And while its true that in many situations a ranger is not self-sufficient, in many cases they are. I hope you weren't thinking that I meant they were a clutch soloing class - thats not what I meant. But with group support, they can deal substantial damage, heal in battle, they can snare a mob, sow the group - thats pretty much what I meant by self-sufficient (maybe it was poor choice of words). They can do alot of things that other classes aren't capeable of, and therefore make a great support class for the healers, tanks and casters.
Even though your post makes it obvious that you are very knowledgable about the game and have a solid grip on class capeabilities, heres a word to the wise:
Be sure to spike your flames with a little bit of sound knowledge and proofs for your opinions - otherwise you only succeed in making yourself look like an ***. Just a suggestion. Have a nice day :)
did you just say that?

I happen to love rangers in a group - their wide array of spells contribute a hell of a lot, and they can do that while dishing damage, to boot. However, with gear suitable to my level (no alts, no twink other than a few K worth of gifts over my life) I have comparable HP and better AC than many rangers I meet. So, don't automatically tag us monkeys as bleeders :)

As for this item..... NToV?? I can only dream :)
