Posted:Jan 16 2002 at 5:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) leave it to verant to put 50 ac on a caster only dagger hehe not that there anything wrong with that 50 ac cna be useful to them but would have been mreo useful to add it to the frostwrathe or primal velium stuff
I dunno about you, but i don't think i'd ever risk losing this thing by equipping it in my range slot *drools* ac 50.....in 15....mana 50.....i wonder. if this weren't no drop, how much would it sell for?
Okay, for all you who are saying this item is a joke, check the slots it can be equipped in. As a wizard, I'd kill to have 25 STR, 15 INT, 50 Mana, and 50 AC in my RANGE slot. Sure as hell beats my Sarnak Ceremonial Dagger.
You're right, it is a sweet range slot item. Thats exactly where it is in my inventory, but only because I have a staff of the silent star in my main. =)
I think this a great addition for casters. I am a 45 enchanter on Xev and one day in WC a bloody puma jumped me and I couldn't kill it. I was level 45 and couldn't kill a level ten monster. (I didn't have mez or a DD memed at the time)
Would at least be nice to have a reason to work on your melee skills too, we get them so we should use them. Same goes for the girdle of rapidity. These items are for casters only because there would be no way for us to get haste gear and nice weapons if we had to compete with melee classes. Its a great addition and I look forward to getting one for myself =)
trust me all casters have been there...... I'm a mage and I am forced to hold a torch/shovel/stien/broom sure they buff up my pets and all but only 4 damage and my 1hb SUCKS and no matter how hard I work at it I just cant seem to get it up. Now with velious out there is a haste robe out for casters lookin in to gettin one has haste and int and mana and AC what more could a caster need?
uhhhh does Verant WANT casters to tank? I mean my chanter could frickin melee mobs to death with this thing, not to mention the handy +15 int. I would damn near be afraid to use this thing for actual meleeing for fear the wizzy and warriors wouldnt be able to get it off me. Well, not like I'll ever see this thing anyway. =P
Dude, you would NEVER out-aggro a group of tanks with this weapon just meleeing. If it proc'ed a DD or a debuff, maybe. When I had this dagger in my primary the only reason the tanks didn't like me using it is because I got in the way. I missed A LOT, and when I hit it wasn't for very much, average teens I would say.
A caster's innate melee ability is complete crap, which is why they can afford to give us such great weapons. What this dagger is really GREAT for its stats, mainly the AC, mana, and str. Int is a negligible benefit unless possibly you are an iksar, or do a lot of trade skills.
This things a flippin sheild in itself and makes a great range slot item if you have another decent weapon or utility item in your primary slot. The dmg/delay is really only good for small crap you don't want to waste mana on and pvp, especially against another caster.
Look here sillies, see where it says "Class: "? see it? now read it...thats right, casters...This wasnt made to be a melee wep, just like the Crown in solb with 15wis/int is only melee usable...its just something thrown in for kicks and *****. And see where it comes from? Check out some Vulak loot (WOW, he's also from Tov!!) and tell me thats fake too.
Btw the 15int/wis choker in sol b is melee only, the 20 MR crown is all/all. Unless someone other than king tranix drops something I never seen (I only kill fg)
Why must this world have Morons, to get the white you simply go to Paint in your acessories and delete the rest of the Pic it leaves... OMG "WHITE" background from what you Erased
This item isn;t fake, nor is it new. An enchanter at the BOTB on my server literal stabbed an opponent to death. He never saw this coming =/
Look at all the other loot from NToV. Is easy as you sit in freeport buying and selling your way to a fat bank roll to bash items you will never even see drop. I suppose the no drop tag has you so annoyed due to the fact you will never see level 60 or get to WW little lone ToV.
Be happy people are giving you glimpes of things to aspire to attain. Pretty sad that you resort to blasphemy and attack their credibility.
Me hopes you don't procreate! There are too many morons adding their tainted seed to the populace.... /flame off
As far as this dagger goes, yes it is a real item. I'll not waste my time citing examples as proof of it's existence. If you want to believe that this is fake... fine by me... join me on a raid some time and I'll convince you that anything I loot is really just an emote and the mobs aren't dropping anything =~)

Look at the damn thing! It has _50_ AC. That's more than a decent tank breastplate and all but the most uber of shields. And _25_ str! And _15_ int! And a nearly 1/1 ratio. And it goes in the ranged slot. And they didn't say what mob it dropped off of. How could it not be fake?
The thought of this being a rogue weapon is almost devious. The unimaginable damage a rogue could deal with this bad boy isnt to be thought about. Im a warrior and its often times my job to keep the rogues alive, cause they might hit hard, but they also GET HIT hard too. If you are a warrior you know the extreme difficulty it is to regain the taunt from a rogue with epic or better pokers. This thing would out taunt a warrior even without BS's. A rogue with the same weapons as me naturally does almost twice as much damage, then to add in BS's. And the extra 30 points in taunt is nice... buts its a far cry still in whats truelly needed for us warriors to regain taunt. The only thing that scares me more than these great weapons emerging, is the thought of even better armor for rogues. Id hate to think that the days of a warrior taking the beating, are numbered. But 2 rogues on opposite sides of a mob will slaugher the mob a hell of a lot faster than a tank on one, and a rogue on the other. Plus with good armor, both rogues are capapble of staying alive long enough with a cleric as to not need us tanks :( Ah well, we still got our good looks ;) oh yeah. Ladies take a number please, line forms to the left hehe
Okay, how is anyone even arguing that this is not one of the best daggers in the game? It's got almost a 1 to 1 ratio and an AC of 50!!!! Holy fricking banshee mother. Anyone who gets one of these should feel blessed beyond their wildest dreams, and anyone who sits on these message boards and analyzes stats and complains about Verant needs to just chill out and try to enjoy the game. It's one of the most fun games in the world, and this is a great item.

And you know what let the stupid pc melee a mob and oops it reposited for 450 =p if you high enough lvl to get this item, you wont care about the atk/dly. You'll get it cause it has kick *** stats. Ohhh and if anything gets nerfed, its cause of peeps like you guys who say its to powafull when in all actuality if you can get to this point in the game you'll want these nice items. wow! necro's are going to acutually be usefull in high lvl groups! As a tank!!! =P they should rename this to Omega dagger or something! put a warning label on it saying *WARNING* keep out of reach of rogues!*WARNING* lol these casters get all this nice stuff, but us poor hybrids still have our xp handicap...LIFE ISNT FAIR!(btw i DO know that the two things are totally unrelated so you dont need to cuss me out about how it actually is fair and so forth. =) )

Posted:Oct 18 2001 at 12:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm going to ignore cratequing your poor writing skills and point out to you that hybrids and all classes for that matter had their experience penalties removed via a patch quite a while ago.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Oct 18 2001 at 4:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Obviously you miss the little FACT that hybrid STILL needs more XP to gain levels then any other "pure" class. Why don't you wiseguy go back to the same patch history, check it all out again and also check the XP amounts needed for classes to level, and then start pointing the fingers. And as for your writing, frankly I don't understand what the heck were you trying to say there at the end. Don't cuss on other's writing if you cannot write yourself. Bonehead.
Technically, you are correct - Hybrids do require more experience to level. However, they still level at the same rate as a druid, cleric, or shaman of the same race. The idea is that they originally had a modifier for exp required per level. If Verant removes that modifier, then a level 54 SK will suddenly become a level 57 SK. Instead, they added a bonus to all xp for classes who had a modifier worse than a cleric, druid, or shaman of the same race.
Bottom line? A SK Troll requires more xp to level than a Shaman Troll, but will level at the exact same rate.
Well, in order to stop a flame, I must attempt to correct you all. Hybrid's do require more actual experience points than "normal" classes. It also happens that they get "free" experience each kill based on their original penalties. This has the secondary effect that if there is an experience bonus in the zone, that hybrids will even get a slightly better bonus than other classes. All of this has been stated by the developers.
Umm... I think you misunderstood the XP change that was made. The net effect is to almost totally ELIMINATE Class-based XP penalties (Warriors and Rogues get a Bonus and continue to do so) -- and to move the Racial penalty to one that only affects the "expensive race" character. For example, a Human paladin now levels at the same rate as a Human cleric -- if they always group together, they will always ding together. If however they are also with a Troll shaman, the troll will need 20% more exp, and will (very slowly) fall behind. This is how people assumed the experience penalties worked when EQ launched, but it wasn't made so until about 6 months ago.
Ancaglon, I'm not sure exactly how it worked, but there is no effective penalty based on class anymore. Hybrids do still take more exp to level, but they get more exp each kill so it evens out. They did this because if they just changed the exp level requirements, you would suddenly see level 54 SK's jumping to level 57 like has been pointed out by other people. Those numbers still stay in effect because they're lazy and there's no real need to change it.
That's, at least, what I understand. Please don't flame me, just correct me if I'm wrong.
hmm well it would seem that they took my original post down because someone couldn't handle my kidding around.... but thanks for that info guys! had no idea that hybrids got that kind of exp bonus... hmmm now i will go and ponder that as i also ponder why they voted my post off
