I don't know if the loot table has changed or I just had bad luck, but I just went to the mind burrowers in Akheva Ruins and killed 40 of these exactly, and got two pristine silks.

It's used in the tradeskill advancement route introduced with the new cultural recipes. The templates made by this silk cannot be used further, but making them still makes sense as it's an alternate skillup route (trivial on the templates is 234-255).
