Best..

I think that this mask would actually be best, not just for enchanters, but for necros as well. Wizards and Magicians, to my recolection, do not need charisma for anything.. yet when the ghetto mezzes are needed and the charms are wanted to last longer while soloing in - say - Charasis..then this would be great :)

When I saw the auction for this in EC, two things crossed my mind. The first was how great it would be for my necro (10), who has a pitifully low charisma and could use the boost, and the second thing that occurred to me was how great it would be on the enchanter (37) that I was currently playing. The 800pp price tag meant no love for the necro that day, but I'll blow that much for my enchanter anytime, especially on such a great item--never bothered to do a PC, had no idea it regularly sold for so much more. This brought my int up to 190 (still no int from shoes, legs, hands, or waist). You people seem to assume that whoever is going to use this actually looted it in chardok. While I imagine there are a lot of people there that would use it, there are a lot more lower-level (i.e. not ready for chardok) players that could use it, too. As for the whole class argument, who cares? The stats cater to enchanters, but anybody that can wear it, is an int caster, and sells items can make use of the stats.

Nice Mask...

Great caster mask. I do not think any caster would pass up the extra AC, especially those that have a tendancy to gain the aggro because of our high-aggro spells. I play an enchanter and I would lose the little bit of CHA here and take the add of AC and mana, gladly! Still waiting to get lucky and pick one up...along with a couple of other nice items that can be found in the zone.
Incandesant Mask
# Oct 16 2001 at 12:01 PM Rating: Default
Just wondering but has anyone looked at incandesant mask for enchanters....to me even thought the ac is not as good the +2 cha is well worth it. Plus probably alot easier to get than this mask. Stats on Incandesant mask is AC 3, +5 int, and +7 cha, with weight of 0.4

pretty damn sweet chanter mask if you ask me. nice for all the classes listed, but gettin 5cha and 5int and 7ac on one slot for chanter is pretty uber.

"any pure caster who can enter chardok likely has had 200 int for quite some time"

Funny, I'm quite capable of entering Chardok, as well as, Sebilis, Kael, etc., and I don't have 200+ int...Not saying I *should* be there, but I *can* be there if I want to be, nothing is stopping me from walking into the zone...

While i do agree Enshrouded is a better mask, i'd also point out... a lot of people do chardock, less people do HS.

As for removing 'big' intel items, that's opposite of what needs to be done. You want to maintain items with large intel boosts. The fewer slots you use to gain your 200, the more slots you have open for AC/Mana/HP items. 5 intel on an item isn't very large, and most people who can rumage around in chardok probably wouldn't notice the difference of it.

The thing that is nice about this mask is exact stats... there's no dex, or wisdom.. things that an intel doesn't really need (which in itself is amazing). AC is nice, most things with more AC are much harder to get, and many of them will be "claimed" by other classes as the $9.95 they pay each month always seems to be more important than the $9.95 that intels pay.

At level 50+, whining about 3 intel really shouldn't even happen. Even if you run 200, the odds are you're going to run out of Hp's before you run out of mana.

As a caster, you want your tanks to have AC over you getting it (for those occasions when both can wear the item). If you are getting hit as a caster, slow down the nukes and let your tanks do their job -- part of which is to keep focus of the MOB on them rather than you. Overcasting makes this very difficult.

I'm not against casters getting AC in the least. However, a caster having 700 versus 750 AC is not going to make a difference in the overall scheme of things -- if you're getting hit by a quad-hitting 125hp mob, the extra AC dropping the damage down to 100hp/hit makes you just as dead in an extra 6 seconds if your tanks can't taunt them off you.

So, while your $9.95/month and a warrior's $9.95/month are just as important, you tend to get the INT items while your tank tends to get the AC items.

Think again my friend, chanters need the AC. How often does it happen that an odd mezz is resisted...instant agro. The extra AC gives my cleric buddy more time to save my butt, while tankies are busy taking down that other mob.

It's not all about overnuking chum...

It is not AC that will keep you alive, it is alot of hps and a good channeling ability.

Int and Wis caster damage avoidance, even with a high AC, can't hold a candle to our melee brothers. This is especially true in PoP. I am a cleric with 1200 ac and mobs go through it like paper. Casters don't get a high dodge and parry. We are also on a different damage avoidance table.

So, consider hps over ac.

i play a 55wiz and 60 warrior on Zebuxoruk, this mask is awesome, to the moron that posted its a slap in the face because most casters have 200int, dont be dumb please, wearing that, over the enshrouded, means you can gather 200+ int, so you can remove one of your big int items for a mana item, and srtill have 200int

Fun for everyone!

This is a great new mask for everybody. Its lore, but not no drop, so it'll probably be heavily farmed. Anybody can see why though.

For wizards - Two more AC then Acumen mask, same INT and no lovely Gaze effect, but Charm and poison resistence will make up for that. At level 60, with teh 20 extra mana, this actually becomes something akin to an INT 5 + 2 (10 mana per 1 point of int) to about 7 int. Nice and if its over 200, you get 20 mana instead of 2.

For mages and necros - Same as wizards, in fact moreso, since they dont have a neato midlevel mask they can quest for that gives a decent amount of INT, so this becomes a very nice mask for these two casters.

For enchanters - heck, more charisma and intelligence makes for the necessary two stats for enchanters. And dont forget 7 AC, very important when you get whacked, like you know enchanters do.

Overall I dont see how anybody could peg this as a "enchanter only" mask. Doesn't say enchanter only on the list does it? =)

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 11 2001 at 6:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is enc item. The cha isn't as good as some lower lvl quest items, but the AC is nice and enchanters need the int more.
