One thing that seems not to be shown here is that the cast time on this thing is two seconds - a lot faster that the standard 5 seconds on invis spells. I would love this ring for two reasons. One: to save me the effort of memming and un-memming invis every time I needed to go invis for whatever reason, two: as an enchanter, this would be a great, speedy item for the stategic breaking of charm.
#Diepen, Posted: Mar 31 2003 at 9:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Click on teh spell effect name it lists time to cast, recast time, etc etc etc
RE: Nice Item
# Apr 14 2003 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately you are spouting yourself without knowing what you are talking about. Just because the Spell database lists a spell casting time does not mean that casting time applies to the effect on an item. Each item has it's own casting time set for that item and they are not always the same. In this case the casting time on the item is 2 seconds, the casting time listed in the database is 5 seconds.
#Valdon, Posted: Aug 11 2003 at 9:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sounds like your the one talking for no reason. Ever think he did his homework? Thats exactly what he just said. Normal cast 5, this item 2....

*sigh* I hate when people flame with filters on. He's not replying to the original post. He's replying to a reply to the original, which is filtered out because it's rated awful (for good reason), saying the original poster doesn't know what he's talking about and babbles something about how the spell link says different. He doesn't seem to realize that clickys have different cast times than the actual spells.

Now boys and girls, before you flame, and SURE AS HELL before you lower someone else's posting karma, why don't you actually make sure you know what you're relying to? The worst thing about this site is dumbasses that lower other people's karma because they lack the common sense to work filters.

Level 49. Always look up the proc levels for items on: lucy.fnord.net. Best site for that info.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 31 2002 at 6:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok some one look up the spell for god sake its a spell that last 20min.......20MIN do you hear me almost all invis spells players get are the typoe that dont have a set time of lasting there for you could be running thur a bunch of mobs when BOOM your invis drops 2min after it was casted with this you will know when it drops and plain where to be when it does drop
RE: OK look here
# Nov 15 2002 at 4:12 PM Rating: Excellent
No, bud, you're wrong. You should have looked up the description for Invisibility. It also lists a duration of 20 minutes. That may be the maximum that the spell lasts, but it's not a fixed duration. Having played a necro, I can attest that Gather Shadows does not always last 20 minutes. There have been plenty of times I've cast Gather Shadows only to have it immediately tell me that "You feel yourself starting to appear." It drops just as often, and just a quickly, as Invisibility and druid Camouflage. That also means it can drop without any warning at all.

Gather Shadows is a self-only, necro/sk version of Invisibility, nothing more.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 09 2001 at 11:01 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Umm i would just like to point out that in the description and in the pic clerics CAN use. To all those clerics out there b!^&%in about getting shafted please its just a game. So really just shut the f%@^! up. i mean really people if you dont like the fact that people can or cant use an item keep it to yourself, no one here wants to read a post saying oooh look at me i can whine and say we got shfted yet again. please post USEFULL information on the message boards and shut yer holes
RE: Get some better glasses!!!!
# Nov 16 2001 at 4:51 PM Rating: Default
Uh, yes you should get some better glasses. Alla mistakenly put clerics on the list, but if you look at the pic above, you'll see that the shadowknight is the missing class that cleric replaced, eight classes in total.

By the way, I think you owe everyone here an apology for ranting and raving without looking at the pic yourself. You're no better for sending an obviously flame post than the "whiners" that you complain about. Think before you leap next time.
Real info please

Well Done! You have read it correctly, Clerics cannot use this ring. Think about it, clerics cannot invis, neither can Paladins, enuff said.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 05 2002 at 2:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Funny I thought people had brains for thinking...ever look at the warrior only armor, seems that one of the pieces casts invis. can warriors cast? no but they get an invis. us clerics get? ohh yeah nerfed to hell.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 13 2001 at 12:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ring kinda sux dude... not worth tradin for. I'd only use it if cast time was nil. This is one of them items you'd use if you won random, but you'd never trade for... kinda like larriken's mask. We all know a 10 charge invis kinda ownz.
RE: shrug
# Oct 15 2001 at 10:34 AM Rating: Default
I play a paladin, so usually I wouldn't say anything because my symbol spells are reserved for casters who shouldn't be getting hit (that's you necros and mages out there) and for people who beg for symbols from my group while we're mid hunt/CR.

On the other hand, my signifigant other plays a cleric... and half the time I'm the one buying her peridots. Which is why I get excited if I have more than 200pp in the bank. Sure, group symbol is a wonderous thing... but what about the levels before that? She's 51 right now. And while last night we made enough while hunting to cover the peridots used that night, it will take weeks to make back what she spent on the Vox raid she was kind enough to attend with me.

Oh, and last I checked the ratio is one drop in three enthralled mobs... and three out of four of those are cash loot gems. So really it's more like one in twelve... and I've never seen a non-breastplate gem sell for more than 1000pp.

Shadus Nerfedalot
"Yeah, Enthralled drop something one in three... they drop paladins. Dead."
RE: shrug
# Aug 22 2002 at 11:35 AM Rating: Decent
necros need a symbol cause it gives them more HPs, which means they can lich lower, and lifetap more efficiently.
RE: shrug
# Oct 19 2001 at 12:31 AM Rating: Decent
Regarding peridots on a raid, no cleric should be using their own peridots. The raid leader should be kind enough to pay for all the necessary spell components used for the raid, and reimburse any extras used. See your local raid leader and send them a tell. If you have to bring your own gems then don't raid with them again.

Damn - sweet item. Would be nice for any class to pocket in case of a special occasion. It just seems that clerics have to tend to alot more "special occasions" than other classes. I sure as hell wouldn't want my cleric dying on the way to my "special occasion". Seeing as how my main characters have been a druid and a bard I've had quite a few "special occasions", at which times I was very happy to see a cleric. So I would award this item to my cleric without batting an eyelash.
Granted, alot of clerics can be selfish bastards, and those can go ***** if they beg for this. This should go to someone who helps their guild when they sincerely need it.
As for a price on this item....let me justify it first:
I can't see this as a full-time item on any class. This is a pocket item to whip out when necessary, and considering its from Chardok it has to be rare. Chardok will never become like OS because Chardok is impossible to maneuver in without a strong group or 2 (unless you're a rogue). This zone will only be 'camped' by guilds who have a sincere desire for the new items from there. Therefore, I'd market this item at 5k if you're selling to a monk and 8k if you're selling to a cleric. But I can't see any other class really wanting it that badly unless they have money to burn.
I mention monks because of their propensity to solo. Other classes like warriors and paladins might solo if they had FD, but they don't so they don't. If you see a warrior or a paladin FD'd, they're not really faking it - they're having a "special occasion" and they're probably hoping to god that their cleric has his paddles charged.
Give the damn ring to a cleric.

Before spending half your life posting on EQ message boards about stupidities, you could at least look and see that clerics can't use "the damn ring"
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 14 2001 at 8:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Damn, clerics always get screwed. My origial post was to say that yer dumb becuase the page said cleric. THen I looked at the actual item. But yeah, clerics always get screwed.
RE: This ring
# Nov 15 2002 at 4:25 PM Rating: Default
How is this getting screwed? Gosh darn, I want my enchanter to be able to rez himself but he doesn't get to use that cleric-only clicky rez stick. That's WAY more useful and important that being able to invis yourself, so really, everyone except clerics is getting screwed (paladins only get slightly screwed, because they do get rezzes of their own).
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 11 2001 at 9:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah, clerics are screwed and druids have it worse than clerics, but you know who has it worse than Druids? Wizards. I'm not complaining, but Druids have everything a Wizard has except for Translocate and Lures, and so much more. And as for proc armor, we have a 30 sec cast time 300 dam nuke, elemental armor, which is actually kinda useful, chill sight, which is, personally, my fav proc of any armor, and Okeil's Radiation, which is so powah i CANT EVEN IMAGINE WHAT YOU COULDNT DO WITH IT. oops, i didnt mean to type that in all caps, but it gets the point across better. Remember, no matter how bad you have it, theres a very good chance someone has it worse than you. I'm not saying the procs on velious Druid or Cleric armor are good either, but wizards don't get a kunark armor so that is closest comparison.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 11 2001 at 7:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok, honeslt people, you need to STFU about how clerics are screwed, because THEY ARE NOT SCREWED. Play a druid to 50. Druids get screwed, clerics do not. You think YOUR kunark armor sucks? Look at ours! 8 sec casting invis helm, which I could mem and cast in 5 seconds. Boots with levi on them. Oh cool, mana free levi and no more bat wings needed! Oh wait, you still need batwings, oh, and the mana it costs in virtually nothing seeing as its a lvl 14 spell. ES gloves, cast, snare! Its the same as tolans, and they are only 1/4 druid. These WOULD BE USEFUL if they had ENSNARE on them instead. a lvl 1 spell that takes 6 seconds to cast (I could have gotten my 35 mana from casting ensnare back in that time almost) and only lasts 2 minutes compared to ensnare which lasts 10 minutes. I would never disgrace myself by wearing, buying or admirin these gloves. The only useful ES is the BP (mana free skin buff), Arms (350dmg dot over 1 minute, not that useful, but when oom....) and ES bracer, which casts mana free group wolf form. If they could have put like a str buff, or a DS on the gloves I would be happy. I petitioned a GM about this once asking to talk to the person who created those gloves, they replied that that god was killed by the others for incompitence
RE: ES vs Donals
# Oct 12 2001 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings excitable one who dislikes clerics!

1) Druids still cast levi all the time at lvl 60.
2) Druids still cast Invis all the time at lvl 60.
3) Some Druids still use Snare (arguments about if it's the same as Ensnare) at lvl 60.
4) The ES Armor is probably one of the over all best sets in the game. And not impossible to gather.

1) Clerics get a 6 minute CH buff from the donal BP. 30 second cast time.
2) Symbol of Naltron anyone?
3) Bravery anyone?
4) Pacify anyone?

I don't think you want to compare Donal armor to Druid armor. Donal has good AC and good stats on the legs and BP. That's about it. Clerical armor has gotten more nerfs than any other line of items in the game. EVER.

I DO think you should leave the cleric vs druid argument alone. VI decided the item wasn't for clerics and that's that.

The Complete Heal on the Cleric BP is a 20 second cast time. Trust me on this one :)

Clerics invis
# Oct 11 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
There is a invis item for Clerics, its called gnomish vanishing device, but it costs like 500kpp to get to that lvl in tinkering, ask Wendy on Mith Marr, she is rumored to be the only 250 tinkerer out there...

The vanishing device gives 20 charges from one mana battery and can be recharged in a toolkit by anyone. Mana batteries turn up in the bazaar fairly cheap now they drop in PoI. The vanishing device sells for 500pp-1kpp on the Seventh Hammer and there are now a ton of tinkerers with sufficient skills (probably due to the number of very cool items that can be made now) :) If you can't use item clicky invis then the gvd is generally better than the potions - however I always carry a potion on all characters for instant invis on a badly timed invis drop (zone into Hate for instance).
RE: Clerics invis
# Oct 11 2001 at 5:42 PM Rating: Default
I believe that device is charged, using class 5 mana batteries. While they are stackable at least it would still cost about 10 plat/invis.
*sigh* Balance
# Oct 11 2001 at 12:59 PM Rating: Default
Every class in the game now has an item to turn invis "except" the cleric.

Try to remember that when a cleric says "Gee I'd drag you but I'm fresh out of invis potions."

I don't mind at all that half the BPs cast MoK. Half the armor summons water and food. The remaining casting armor casts buffs that are far too low for the level needed to get them. *Cough Donal Legs*

Frankly, I'll survive fine without an item that can turn me invis (The mask is nice, but I'm not going to camp out in OS ever week.) I have Tboots and a Divine line that keeps me alive long enough to run away screaming like a school girl.

To answer the unanswered question, I think it's the same casting time as Gather Shadows. The only items that have a drastically different casting time are the heal/buff armors. They were redone to prevent battlehealing.

(Nice mana on this btw! If I were an Int caster I'd wear one.)
Not a horrible ring
# Oct 11 2001 at 12:17 PM Rating: Default
I don't see this as a complete waste of an item, IMO any item that clicks a spell has some use somewhere along your travels. Functionality of it at this level may not be too great as a ranger I would just use my Tolan's Helm, but it is tradeable, and there are plenty of lil people out there who would love 35HP and mana while having a clickable invis. BTW at what lvl does it proc??
Casting time
# Oct 11 2001 at 3:19 AM Rating: Default
I cannot believe so many people took the time to argue about D&D, Flock of Seagulls, clerics that don't get invis, and everything else off-topic but NO ONE has mentioned the casting time except those people who have asked if there is one and what is it?

Pre-nerf Circlet of Shadows has an instant invis. If that's what this is, I don't care that I can cast the spell, I want one of these. If it is like the ES helm with an 8 second cast time for super camo, then forget it. The spell is faster, even if I have to sit down, mem the camo, cast it and re-mem whatever I forgot to make space for it in the first place. The mana is negligable. Only the speed I can cast it is important. This would allow me to keep up with my necro friend who actually *has* one of those pre-nerf Circlets. ;)

Ring takes 2 seconds, Gather Shadows is normally 5 seconds. My Wiz uses this for travelling because it's faster than invis (5 sec.s also) and it doesn't require targetting (self-only spell). Of course when I get sup invis I'll probably ditch this for more mana.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 10 2001 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh yeah, /agree Lazan, I feel your pain brother. This item was not meant for clerics, clerics were not MEANT to have INVIS. Get it?
