This is one of the few forged weapons that is as good or better then the dropped weapons of the same cost range.
This weapon also has a great look. Since all Barbarian class can use this weapon I am amazed that it is not more popular.
I have made and sold a few of these And use one or two myself.

Most likely, not used more because it is not magic, and therefore cannot hit wisps, elementals and other magic only mobs. Also, it's a piercer, which is not the weapon of choice for most low level melee classes. Admittedly, they ought to be practiceing pierce as well, but most don't at this level with a first character. If it's a twink for an experienced player, they'll have better than this.
