I put a +6int aug on this and I am wearing it (for now). I really like this earring and I use it a lot.

Do you have to have this in ear slot to click the effect or does it work from inventory. If works from inventory getting on of these right away, if not, will think about it more. The DS would help solo or when no other DS person in group or just to save mana in ldon as can DS for 11 mana free, not as good as other casted DS but mana free.

BAH!
# Nov 20 2002 at 12:40 PM Rating: Default
Just bought this earring. Im very happy with it but I cant see why a I have to wait another 10Lvls to use a spell Ive already been using for 10 Lvls. Oh well.
RE: BAH!
# Apr 30 2004 at 5:03 AM Rating: Decent
Because it's mana-free to use the earring, and they have to compensate for it somehow.
Usefullness of Feedback
# Nov 02 2002 at 11:04 AM Rating: Default
I am currently a 38 chanter grouping in DL, back in my lower 30s I soloed in CC on velious tryin to make a few pp and get some exp. Every time I tried to take a miner or watchman at lvl 31, I got owned. But then I finally found the components to research this spell. It has changed my life around! With the occasional run for coldain camp, I was able to solo watchmen AND miners with little/no downtime, and pet at 40-50 percent health after each battle. The 11 dmg really helps my pet's attack, which is usually only 30-32 dmg, with haste on pet and slow on mob, this will really help a lot at the mid 30s. Yea, it may not be useful when soloing wurms or so at lvl 50 (5khps hehe) but as soon as you can use this spell, research it!

Sorry to have written a post solely about the spell, as for the earring: It has really nice stats, and the proc is useful when soloing and you wanna do a bit more dmg, it helps. Say the mob you're fighting has a 20 hp per tic regen, the ds will offset it to 9hp per tic, now that can really help a lot.

About soloing as a chanter, I really wouldn't advise of it, but it is fun! When I solo, I usually go up to the nexus and there are sometimes ppl casting mgb kei, I get that, and once I even got aego :) Kei really helps if your lvl 50 and using clarity, wich doesn't really cut it with 200int hehe. Tactics can be the pull, get pet on it, and bash with stick when pet gets low, or fear kiting, and maybe I even use root/nuke/med tactics.

Sorry to make such a long post, just my review on chanters in general, and the usefullness of this earring. Hope this helps anyone wanting this or wanting to solo. Cya! ^_^
Level 49!!!!
# Aug 20 2002 at 10:06 AM Rating: Excellent
This becomes usable at level 49. How do I know? I made level 49 last night. I couldn't use it at level 48 and now I can. ;)

My twink chanter made 49 the other day and the first thing I did was equip this and see if it would work, sure enough it did.
usefullness

The scenario:
An enchanter is in a group with 3 melee types, all who are likely to take damage throughout the course of a fight. The enchanter keeps this spell up on all 3 players for 1 hour, casting it in five minute intervals. The mana saved is 2700 (36 casts at 75 mana). Let's say the mobs hit a player with a ds an average of 15 times per fight and that the group averages 1 mob per five minutes. That would be 12 mobs in an hour taking 165 hp of damage each fight. This translates to 1980 hp of damage in that hour. If in fact this spell also takes the 11 points away from the damage a player is taking (ie the mob that just hit for 89 would have hit for 100 without the ds), then that's an additional 1980 points saved healthwise. So....1 hour, 2700 mana saved, 3960 total damage inflicted/hp saved. Not to mention it saves a spell slot and the earring's stats otherwise are pretty decent. Anbody see the usefullness? Heck, I just convinced myself, but then again I have one and have experienced it firsthand. Not sure what level it starts to work as I got it at 53 and could use it. By the way, I'd say 1 mob every five minutes and 15 hits per fight are lowball figures. The potential benefits are probably greater than the scenario stated.

Sorry, but a DS does not subtract damage from a hit.

no it does not reflect damage. cast it on a level 1 fighting orc pawns. the pawns don't hit for 11+ LOL.

but yeah its a 11 pt damage shield. why are you all debating if its good or not. no matter how creative you all are, in the end its just an 11 point ds. and it'l ldo the same thing any other ds will do.

I got this earring at 50 and it procced for me. You can cast this on others. It's great cause you don't have to use up another spell gem slot for the damage shield.

usefulness
# Oct 14 2001 at 2:01 AM Rating: Excellent
When soloing, feedback is one of the 3 spells i have memmed for my pet.... along with zerk strength and sltw. Now, if you don't solo, and you're often in the company of a druid, ranger, or mage... and they have the mana to burn on your pet, it's not real useful. If you find yourself soloing anything blue at level 52, and you don't use feedback, you're asking to die.

If you use your chanter only to pl your alts, go play your alts. If you think the spell is useless, you haven't tested the bounds of what you can do as a chanter. You may go out and quiver and grovel for help to kill that IG, i already know i can take one.

Don't get me wrong, everyone has their own playstyle; but, when people say a spell is useless, it makes me think they've never bothered to find out how to use it. Feedback is one of the turning point spells in a chanters life.

If you don't understand, go solo 3 seafuries in a row without medding (with you in the area of level 50). Try it useing Feedback, then try it without feedback. When you try it without feedback, be sure to save enough mana on the second one to gate out.

As for the earring, it's nice. Better than a batskull at this level, assuming your over your 187 intel. It's recast time seems to be about what the regular spell is, and it can be cast on anyone you can target, given they're within range.

Dropped off of Grave Master Zo'Lun
RE: Dropped
# Aug 28 2002 at 11:29 AM Rating: Default
Common drop. We killed him 3 times in about 2 hours and it dropped every time.

Not sure if the mob spawn rate is like that all the time though.
Self only?
# Oct 10 2001 at 5:20 PM Rating: Decent
Just wanted to see if anyone knew for sure that the effect wasn't self only . . . Feedback is good when you don't have a mage, druid, or ranger in the group, and to be able to cast it on tanks without using a spell slot could make this item pretty useful.
RE: Self only?
# Oct 24 2001 at 6:10 AM Rating: Decent
May be cast on self and others, non-grouped, as well.
Feedback's Usefullness
# Oct 10 2001 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
Played a ENC on MT till 53. While there was no shortage of needy groups, I did solo quite a bit more than most ENCs I know. Let me tell you that Feedback was an absolute must and I used it every time. First, you do not need an extra spell slot. It is just like any other "buff". You cast it on your pet just before pulling the mob. Thus, you cast it, sit down, mem appropriate spell, get up and get into the fight. While it may not be the best damage shield in the game or even close, it does help and can make the difference. I have often reviewed the mesage logs after a fight while medding. Let me tell you that most fights result in more than 10 hits to my pet per fight even when the mob is slowed. Thus, with feedback doing as much as 12 per hit thats over 120 hps, its like having a nuke. 120 is 120 no matter how you cut it. It helps, even if it simply offsets the mobs regen rate. Bottom line, I used it alot as a chanter. Just my preference. Everyone has their own style. No one style is best, the only thing that matters is you survive the fight, get exp and reload for the next round.
Feedback and this earring
# Oct 09 2001 at 8:10 PM Rating: Default
I use Feedback when I'm PLing my monk. Or if I'm about to take on a tough encounter solo with my pet, Feedback will be one of the buffs I use on my pet. (What is the casting time on the effect by the way?) Over all though, no, it's not a terribly useful spell.

That doesn't make this earring bad however - its statistics compare favorably to Electrum Black Sapphire (+10 mana, +2 CHA), which I still use at level 59.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 09 2001 at 2:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Lesse...useful for killing bats in gfay for wings and to interrupt casters since this spell is pretty near unresistable (speaking from the TZ server). Me likes.

Feedback is a damage shield spell enchanters practically never use because of a lack of a free spell slot. You're thinking of Chaotic Feedback.
RE: Drops from what?
# Oct 09 2001 at 4:19 PM Rating: Default
yeah right ... us enchanters never use the spell cause it's insainly inefficiant mana for the duration and damage done (well plus not enough slots)
