Which bulls are in Norrath (in the era of this item) to smash?
We need modern item window pic (though the current one isn't too out of date).
We need a pic of someone wielding this.
Confirmation of the quest working as it used to (random chance of reward, faction required, etc.) would be good. Reading the thread here it has some early era misconceptions about how things work in EQ.

Well I finally completed this quest. It was unbelievably aggravating. Took two full sessions of hunting (no faction work was required as I used my chanter to do the quest).
Here is a chronological listing of my rewards:
*first day on my level 12 enchanter (agnostic erudite in gnome form):

--unknown-- (illusion wore off and I was stuck in between 2 skellies and Red V's corpse rotted)
--unknown-- I dropped the box from Red V on the floor and a scrubber picked it up

Is this weapon magic or not?
The bullsmasher is not a magic weapon. I weild one on Tallon Zek. At level 25 I only use it to train 1HB nowadays. The quest is easy, it just requires patience.

First try didn't have a slot open .Second try got the Bullsmasher.tries after that got small patch work pants (3),tunic,and shoulder pads.FYI lvl 11 rouge halfling Manic conned dubioulsy to me.

This is a great quest. As a beginning Gnome Cleric I spent my first six levels in the mines of malfunction. I started this quest at level 5 and after finishing it I was well suited. As alternate loot on this quest I received a shield, boots, legs, shoulders, and chest items (and duplicates). Not to mention the grand prize, the bullsmasher. It took 12 tries and about 4 hours, but was worth the effort.

Can this be used in the off hand?
in "slot" it says "either melee", so, yes, you should be able to use it in the off hand.

Took about 7 tries to get this weapon, after taking 3 tries to get the Red V quest. Luckily, even as a dwarf paladin, my faction was good enough that the Necros there only glowered at me dubiously and the skeletons weren't KOS like the ones outside in Steamfont.
This weapon is great for getting your skill up since it strikes so often. I already have 2 magical 1hs and a screaming mace, so it is not critical that this be a magical weapon. If you have at least one magical weapon already, this is a great alternate weapon for your ********

This hammer has major taunt to it being low delay. When I'm fighting orcs I have no problem keeping Legionnaires on me, which isn't necessarily a good thing as they're still red to me. Add to that Augmentation which a kind Enchanter cast on me and you have one awesome hammer. If you're a race/class that can equip this there's no reason to not try this quest, as the hammer is absolutely awesome for what you can get yourself at level 5 without twinkage of anysort. Hell, it has a better damage ratio than a silvery war axe, plus the stats... Awesome.

Could some of you that found it please post your faction and lvl... I want to perfect this so I can hopefully get one after 50 tries(lol, tried 70 times so far, lvl 14 though)

Got it at lvl 14 (Dwarf Cleric) after 11 tries. Faction was apprehensive.

Agree with this, just got it after about 12 tries with an 18th level dwarf cleric. Manik was apprehensive to me as well.

Yes, got one first try. Probably because I am a Magician and Manik Compolten has a mischievious streak. But there is hope! Also, the illegal class combos (RNG, SHD, SHM) were removed. Happy hunting :)

It took over 20 attempts to finally get one. It is part of a random reward for the Red V quest. I received misc. armor, the Iony's Absorber and coins before getting the goal. Faction may play a part as I was maxed on that as well. You can sell and trade this item. The spawn point for Red V has about a 8 minute cycle. You definitely want to camp the point, and kill whatever spawns. I actually got lucky and have seen Red V spawn back to back 3 times, but most of the time he spawned about every 4th or 5th spawn at the point. He would aggro me in the room while the other spawns wouldn't. Hope this helps....

Yes I just tried to get one as well..after a good 8 hours of camping I ended up with mostly pw and rusty weapons (very annoying when I got a rusty warhammer...I was extremely happy and then right clicked...) Until I read the latest posts on many many tries, I thought they might have taken it out.

Humm, thanks... I have tried this quest billions of times. I think it must be a lvl cap/faction problem because I have tried 25 with a 29 warmly... and 25 with a warmly lvl 2... and resently trying with 6 appr(4 trys)... I guess I will try to get a 5 warmly gnome to do this, that should defently work, heh. I am tired of this, but want to camp anyway

Anyone get one of these lately? I have never gotten one and have tried 40+ times, 20 times with a lvl 2 gnome cleric. Is it broken, or just a very rare random item?

It's still dropping, but just random. I got one tonight with a 4th level gnome magician after 8 tries...I was very lucky.

I've just acquired a Bull Smasher on the Xev server. My faction had not reached amiable, yet. I am a Gnome, and that may play a part, but I believe it's just the random reward for the quest. It did take several times, but worth the effort. Now to find a buyer.... I'm a Mage that needs spell money.

I think that faction does have a role in this quest, as I have returned Red V's completed box back many times (around 12 at last counting). I am halfing and I have amiable faction with the Gemchoppers. I suppose I will just keep trying.
It could also be random luck and that they dropped the rate at which the reward is a bullsmasher. *really really wants one*
