*sigh* I've turned in 3 SMRs with my halfling mule and got 3 shiny chucks of metal. I'm now broke. LOL. Now to find another 4k...it's now a matter of pride and dignity. I WILL get this robe, even if by the time I get it, I could have bought better. But yes, it does not drop every time =(

Anyway, the 4th try was a sucess and I now have the robe. With the luclin grapgics, the rone is dark blue and on a male high elf it shows a black skull and all sorts of embroidered stuff on it, very awesome looking. However on a high elf female, it lost alot of the details n it such as the skull =(

It took me 3 SMRs to get this robe but according to one of my friends its about a 1 in 5 chance.....the 2 times that i didnt get the robe i got a shiny chunk of metal which was magic and lore but no stats, dont know what its for yet
what is the return rate on the robe?
about how many smrs would one need to lose in order to get this beautiful robe?
if i make a rogue mule to sneak in there and hand in the robe, would that work? would i need to become visable when handing in the robe or can i stay hidden the whole time?

I haven't quite figured out if there is a specific bug against the rogue mules or not. Here is the data I have so far. We fought down with 2 groups. 4 of us turned in SMR's.
1 50+ Druid - Robe
1 50+ Mage - Robe
1 50+ Enchanter - Robe
1 50+ Bard - Shiney Hunk of Metal
Then the day after 3 assling's including my own mule, went down each with SMR in hand. Each got a Shiney Hunk of Metal.
So as of now I am guessing it's just like a 50/50 chance regardless. But they may have some specific level cap thing.
Oh and about the person talking about how good this robe is. The sad part is that this robe existed for over 1 full year before anyone found it or did the quest. Imagine how godly this robe would have been back before even Kunark was released. :)

well. i found out for myself.
as all good 50+ mages do, i farmed guk and got myself an smr. i then made a brell worshiping halfie and got him bound outside the locked door, wiggled my way in, and proceeded to sneak my way to the mob (man it took me a LONG time to find where he is. oh well good thing is i now am very familiar with the hole hehe).
though he conned scowling, none the less i closed my eyes, held my nose, plugged my ears, and while still under the cover of hide/sneak i handed him my smr...
and i got the shiny robe of underfoot!

i completely agree. you would be THE uberest player on your server if you had this robe back when the quest was first made. a robe BETTER than the fbcr before kunark? /em faints

Minute helped me with mine. It is a nice robe. Since I could afford the INT loss (going from Siren Scale to this), I definitely wear it. The AC is better by two and the resists are better as well. To top it off, it's a nice looking robe and a bit more unique than what I have seen out there.

I got this robe last night. i am a very happy wizzy. it cost me 2 SMRs. when i turned in the first one, i got a shiny metal. dished out 4k for another SMR and this time i was rewarded. So, keep in mind that you will not always get this robe when you give him a SMR.

Well I did this quest tonight with my lvl 3 halfling brell rogue. I got the Robe. Did it after the patch...figured Id have the best luck with a fresh spawn. Just sneak/hide down to the area right before Jael and turn in your SMR and hope you get the robe =)

We did it. He was requesting "Shiney" items. We tried turning in Shiney Brass Shield, Shiney Brass Halberd, coins, and Shiney Metallic robe. Only the robe works. It seems to be completely random though. When you turn in a Shiney Metallic Robe you either get this robe back, or a shiney hunk or metal (thats worthless).
Considering the resists and such, it really is a nice robe.

This is almost as good, and in some ways better than a BC robe. If all you need is a SMR then WOW.

I am not 100% sure, but I think this is the result of a quest in the Hole where you turn in an SMR, and get this in exchange.
Yes you're right. Turn in an SMR to Kejar the Mighty in The Hole. Sounds easy right...it's not. Getting to him is the hard part. :)
