Yea, I just gave him the white dragon helm and got the clawed griffin sword, so it does keep cycling.

Takes 4 to do tormax , 1 Tank (I use me , monk 12k+hps works fine) 2 another DPS melee type to be rapage tank, 3 a Cleric , 4 another healer type Dru/sham/cleric ,, for patch heals and ramp tank heals. Works every time. Have got 4 helms so far myself , sold them all for 100k. Easy money ,,,

Stop worrying about how much it costs and do the quest! Those that have to buy this should pay whatever is asked for it. After all the name of this game is EverQuest! Not EverBuy!

If you insist on buying one. Pay the asked price! You are paying for the hard work of someone else.

Only they can determine what their time is worth.

ITA, Tormax is no joke to kill. You want the item so badly, you're going to have to pay for it, unless you're able to solo KT. =p

He Can be done with 7 people as we just did, but we're Time and ele geared, although monk tanked. =p Makeup: 70 monk, time / ele; 70 chanter, time / ele; 70 rogue time / ele (max AA oO); 70 Bard, not quite fully time / ele; 70 druid not quite fully time / ele; 65 shammy Definitely not time or ele, lol

Monk died once. Got discs up, I pulled halfway to KT, made the monk do the rest of the work since I'm directionally challenged. /nod After killing a few goons first, he was able to single pull KT to the WL zoneline.

Was quite a fight and ran the cleric and myself OOM (8200'ish mana pool here). I chain runed with Rune of Salik, 32 peridots later, KT was dead. Druid piggybacked cleric with CHeals.

So, yeah, the helm is worth a lot for the effort it takes.

vindi next. =)

WTF are you smoking? A seller can put this up for 4 million pp if he wants, it is the buyer who completes the transactions by deciding if it is worth it.

I put one of these up for 500k kinda as a "don't really want to sell price" and it sold overnight. I was flabbergasted. A week later I saw one for sale for 200k and bought it.

Decided to try my luck and put it up for 500k again. IT SOLD AGAIN!

Havent been able to do it again because our market seems to be flooded with them atm. One thing for sure is all those people laughing at the 400k price don't have a clue.

I have been eyeballing this Godly helm since it came out. I finally broke down and bought one the other night for 240k. Sometimes I open my inventory and click the items just to view the stats and drool in disbelief. IMO this item and the Flayed Barb Mask are two of the sweetest droppable, no level requirement items in the game. Can you imagine showing this item to someone when EQ was still EQ Classic? Timeless piece of sellable armor in my opinion. no recomended level makes it great for a super-twink item.

Then, as time goes on, drop a FT 2 or Regen 3 type 7 Augment on it: you have a piece of armor comparable to most the VT loot out there. Great piece of armor for any class if you ask me personally. Also has no graphic. (which makes my bard very happy).

Generally a good buy if you can find one for under 250k. It will sell back for that much if not more, and will likely still be worth that much 1 year from now when everything is recomended level XX.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes (haven't had a chance yet to personally verify it though). Reason for saying yes is a post I found in the forum under the quest for this helm. Here is the link of that post. According to him as long as you have the faction and the helm ya should be able to do the turn in till ya get what you want.

Someone was selling this in the bazaar the other day on xev. 400k. I don't care what is required to do this quest, and how good the priest boots are (I'm a druid, so I would be concerned about them otherwise), that is just an outrageous price. 400k? There is so much better out there, and most priests would rather spend the money to get boots of flowing slime anyway...what is it that goes through someone's head when they set a price like that? They meant the helm to be sold, because they didn't max out the price, but what the hell? It's not THAT good...

RE: Retarded prices...

Well it just depends on what you want. If you want to give up all semblance of stats for a FT 3 feet item then get boots of flowing slime. On the other hand if you have a lot of FT items already and FT2 is pretty much all you want then I'd say 110 mana 17 int/wis are nice stats just themselves not to mention the other crap you get. And as for the price, if people will pay it then the price is right...

Why it's REALLY good
# May 21 2002 at 8:40 PM Rating: Excellent
Everyone keeps talking about the ac and the resists on this, true, the ac isn't that amazing and you could do better on the resists arent quite amazing (though they are still quite good, even for the end-game). What makes this helm truely wonderful is the combination of the stats, resists, ac, and **100 raw HP + 12sta**. For the end-game, big HP items are GODLIKE. The breastplate of eradication isn't generally considered the best bp out there for melees because of 55ac, you can do better than that, or 8svAll, you can beat that too. It's great because it has 20sta and 100hp.

You need all the HP you can get to eat AE damage. For the tanks who actually tank on any givin raid (the guild's MT and backup tank's for controlling mob placement, adds, and aggro on casters), once you're at 1200-1300ac, more ac doesn't make much difference. HP, on the other hand, gives you that much more time before the cleric has to CH you (or that much more time for that CH to land, depending on how you look at it hehe). If you look at Furor, Fires of Heaven's MT and guild leader, his ac is only about 1300 but he has nearly 6000 unbuffed HP. He wears alot of low-ac, high-hp gear (and, of course, several huge ac items to keep it up there, not all items only have AC OR HP hehe).

All in All, this item kicks *** but not for the reasons alot of people seem to notice, the HP/STA on this makes it godly, the rest is just butter.
RE: Why it's REALLY good
# May 04 2003 at 12:31 AM Rating: Default
1st off considering your tell was in 2002 i wont go off saying how the Raex Breastplate of Destruction is the best war bp out there.. In fact Heavy Yttrium or Great Shadow would have been the best in 2002.. Anyways, In the higher planes there are only 2 things that really matter for a melee character, 1st is HP and 2nd is resists ( not in that order ) because I've found that the higher end game mobs tend to do not just melee anymore but have large AoE spells that dosnt help your cleric much when he/she has to change her spells according to healing a whole grp at once..

Secondly - This is a godly item for a monk! Im not gonna say it isnt good for other classes either but everything there is great for a monk cause he is gonna take advantage of it all except the mana.. Also because if they are iksar monks, hehe they recieve even more bonus's to their ac for wearing this so maby it will be closer to say 32 est. +/- 5 ac or so.. And with all the resists needed in say ToV this makes it so you can stop swapping gear around to make it best suitable so you dont DIE..

Thirdly - Furor did not wear low ac gear to boost his hp, all of his stuff is the best in the game.. About the most i see him change off for anymore is resists but I imagine he wont have to do that for very much longer with Raex Armor being the best for almost both sets..

Well i am gonna shut up now and let you all bash me hehe..

#Tuluvar, Posted: Mar 05 2003 at 8:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Try pulling with a monk in a raid and say that again lol. I love this one. I dont give a rats *** about resists since its a roll thing anyway. I often FD'd with a couple of hp left ( like 5 of 6 ) . Any high HP items are ubah for tanks and pullers.
RE: Why it's REALLY good
# Dec 03 2002 at 4:55 PM Rating: Decent
Resists don't mean much anymore. All the buffs and shiznat, if you're 100all resists unbuffed, you're guernteed 500 all resists, with bard on disc/Psalm of Veeshan. Even before Planes of Power, 100hp > 30MR. Resists are based on a roll. With 500 all resists, it's possible to continuously get hit by something, and with 10 all resists, it's POSSIBLE to resist every time. HP, on the other hand, is something more physical. I assume mobs hit max every time, HP makes all the difference. Off the topic of what I'm replying to: AC is the same as with resists. It's based on a roll, you can still get hit for max, and you can get hit for less. Nothing concrete. BUT, when I have 1kAC vs 1600AC, not a huge difference between a 1200 hit and a 1120 hit ;P HP = God. Thx.

(btw, I play a 65 bard as main. This was written from MY perspective.)

Also, if your post wasn't serious, Mr. 30MR>100HP, then I apologize, BUT, to all who actually agreed with his statement, here's my defense =).

as always .. it is situational .. look:

100 HP's > 30 MR ------ fighting the statue of Zek that rampages for 1100.

30 MR > 100 HPs -------- fighting casters (but even without this item i have 190 MR with raid buffs =p so I would take the HPs

and BTW, level 31 barb does not even have a clue about end-game and what is best to have .. I say 100 HPs over 30 resist any day!!

As a shaman (high end, well kinda, since I am full SS quest armors with the rest of equipment you can wonder) I choose items I want like this..
Mana / HP combo, sta and AC. I would sacrify a little HP or mana for resists, and this one of the best HP, mana, sta combo, with 10 to all saves and a self 20 MR clickable buff. well, take a guess.

RE: Why it's REALLY good

Yes, the Vindi BP is better than the Statue BP. Try not to call somebody a total idiot without doing a little research first. Hell don't call them an idiot at all because it's their character. They wear what they like.

To most people the extra:
10 AC doesn't mean much (because of the ac soft cap)
10 STR doesn't mean much (caps easily with buffs/decent equipment)
05 STA doesn't mean much(caps easily with buffs/decent equipment)
15 DEX doesn't mean much (who cares? avatar and buffs can cap it anyway)
10 CHA doesn't mean much (most people don't care about this either :)

However... the Vindication BP has 7 MORE SV ALL (which does matter a lot when dealing with casting/AE mobs), and most importantly gives you 14 more attack (which is very important because you do more damage!), as well as 2 extra HP regen per tick (which is pretty damn useful). The effect stacks with everything. BTW I wear a Chestplate of Vindication, so I as well as many other warriors who wear them must be idiots :(.

I disagree, the Breastplate of Eradication is in my opinion better than the Chestplate of Vindication as:

2 tick HP regen means zero when you fight mobs that hit in the multi-100s.
14 ATK don't mean much cause you won't notice an increase in your damage output unless the ATK increase is very significantly (100 - 200 points)
7 svAll don't mean much because they are worthless if you have no resistance buffs and if you them and a bard's playing resistance songs you won't miss those 7 points

Ummm, I know tanks who have both BPs (Vindi and Eradication(sp)) and do you know which one they use? Thats right the BP of Eradication. And these people aren't in some 2cent guild. They are in one of biggest guilds on the server. So not sure what you are smoking when you say Vindi is better.

RE: Why it's REALLY good

Vindi BP is better for all the reasons Gerald said.

7 sv all (especially after recent resist changes) and 2pts of regen >>>> 10ac and a few stats that are maxed anyways with raid buffs.

If the main tank is overly concerned with his AC possibly being too low for an encounter, maybe he would chose to wear the statue BP, but all non-tanking warriors, and all Pallies / SKs should certainly chose the Vindi BP first.

Effort needed to get this helm
# Oct 03 2001 at 2:36 AM Rating: Good
For those who thought this was easier to get than SoV quest armor, it is NOT. Killing Tormax is much harder than farming quest items in Kael or ToV. I think Tormax alone can kill all non-named drakes/wurms in ToV west wing and hall of testing.

And this helm is definitely better than SoV rogue quest helms. At the level you can kill Tormax, you don't need any more str or dex, you need hp and sta. AC is semi-useful for rogues, you can't tank anything at all and your AC will never get as high as a warrior. You'd want more hp so that you can eat more AoE of the dragons.
RE: Effort needed to get this helm
# Dec 04 2001 at 12:05 PM Rating: Decent
If I am not mistaken, your resists are what 'eats' the damage done by spells, in partial or full resists. Not AC. AC helps with Direct Melee damage, like a warrior and rogue deals out. If your resists are high, you are more likely to resist spells. If your AC is high, and you get an Ice Comet cast on you with a cold resist of 37, your going to take 1200 points of non-melee damage, however if your resist is 237, you will more than likely not get hit from IC at all. Well wishes and blessed be.
RE: Effort needed to get this helm
# Dec 14 2001 at 12:03 PM Rating: Good
he said you need hp for AEs not ac, there are many AEs that are going to hit you no matter what your resists are or atleast hit you partially. in 10min+ battles against AE mobs high HPs are critical.
RE: Effort needed to get this helm
# Mar 12 2002 at 10:41 AM Rating: Good
I'm not argueing, but wouldn't resists help diminish (if not eliminate) the damage taken from the AEs as well??
RE: Effort needed to get this helm
# May 06 2002 at 1:19 AM Rating: Decent
Resists are minor at that point. I carry 5 (?) pieces of resist gear on me, ghetto crap, and my gear sucks by high level standards, but with those items on, circle of seasons, and group magic resist, I can get to 125magic resist, 150 fire/cold. If I were grouped with a bard, I wouldn't even bother putting on resist gear, because after 170-200, they make no difference. Anyone on a Tormax raid is probably walk around with 100 in every resist at all times just because high end gear has resists on it.
RE: Effort needed to get this helm
# May 24 2002 at 1:05 PM Rating: Decent
actually in ToV some of the ae's are not resistable as they are lures, so no matter what your resists are you will get hit. so hp's help ALOT.

tell you what this item would rock for my 48 rogue i mean sure, the kael and thurg quest armor is better but some of us don't have the giant uber guilds to help out on such things. we can only hope to win stuff like this with a roll of the dice. this is one of those items that i would pick over even the fabled mrylokar armor (mrylo has great AC but kind of crummy effects and no stat buffs besides the BP and dagger). and you gotta remember. for us rogues it's not all about the ac.... it's about that STR and DEX.

i dont mean to sound rude, or snide about this, your just a little off kilter. first off you only need about 3 groups of 52+ to do arena in kael..you need about 3 groups of 58-60 to do testing halls entrence. neither of those are persay, uber, though ToV is getting damned close..

as for being able to toss a dice and win Tormax's head..Heh. that is typically awareded because of the forces it requires to kill him..the guild im in, killed him today with about 57 people mostly 58+.

As for the quest items vs mrylo, yes..the quest items are better, more or less because they're from a new expansion set, and thus to draw a crowd, they have to be.
