Dain Drop

Ya know i'm 65 SK, been playing long time, killin CT, Seru, Ssra, all that jaz, and I have this, and i STILL carry around a complete set of resist gear just incase the occaision arrises. Nothing wrong with +50 CR, in fact aside from a bard song or buff, i believe this is the highest cold resist item in the game. Nothing wrong with being prepared

Stop comparing content that was several years ago to content today. Other than the shields from PoS and VT, what other good shields were there at the time?
RE: Retards
# Mar 26 2004 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
sarnak battle shield is as good as this except in those few occasions when you are fighting a cold aoeing mob where the aoe isn't unresistable, and you aren't grouped with a bard.

Let's all be honest with ourselves, for the size of the raid, and the time it takes to clear and pull the Dain alone, this item is not worth the trouble.

Compare 50 CR which is useless post 55 (spells/songs to raise resists above 250) with having more varied resists (fire, Poison, etc.) And better stats all around.

If this IS an upgrade for anyone on the raid, more power to them, grats, but overall this item will generally rot.

dain is lvl 70, and yes, this item does suck, alot.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 27 2002 at 5:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Anyone know if this would look evil on my SK?

It looks the same as a Velium Round Shield. It's round and made of ice, transparent with some kind of insignia in the middle.

do you have any clue how amazing 50CR is on any item? good lord...
RE: moron
# Sep 28 2003 at 11:48 PM Rating: Decent
I agree that +50CR is unreal, but this would sit in the bank until those uncommon occasions where you know you will need Cold Resistance.
Wish I had one. Wish I could use one (wrong class for me). But I doubt it would be used very often.
I'd have they'd give it better slots than a type 1.

RE: Ouch
# Dec 01 2002 at 3:10 PM Rating: Decent
I heard someone say last night that he consed even at 65.
RE: Ouch
# Oct 25 2001 at 7:48 PM Rating: Decent
actually that's just a relative level based on how tough he is. he may be only a lvl 63 con, but nobody can really be sure=)
RE: Ouch
# Feb 23 2004 at 11:24 AM Rating: Good
no, he is actually 70. The actual levels have been discovered via SEQ

*shrug*

Do-Goody Paladins killing dorf.

So much for roleplay.

:)
#REDACTED, Posted: May 21 2003 at 4:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Roleplay is for ****, ***. :p
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 29 2001 at 8:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If only it had like 50mana or somethin close to that it might be worth the time and effort of clearing all of icewell keep to get it.
Hmmmm...
# Sep 28 2001 at 4:45 AM Rating: Decent
Take what you wish but I wouldn't mind it for my cleric as I get pounded by ice spells in certain zones later in the game. Opinions vary though.
I'd Use it

As a cleric. Sheesh people - you act like clerics get everything? Well.. lets consider - i cast and heal a tank - mob turns on me - and slices me dead - guess what - tank dies anyway.

AC 25, and +8 wis both make it a great shield for clerics - its better than what i carry in my off-hand at level 52...

There might be better items out there - but most clerics i know don't have them...

Garon waves his Testament of V. and his Paw of O. that he's carried around for 30 levels.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 26 2001 at 7:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think, maybe wrong but, if you have the power to kill Dain then it would probly be rolled on my the twinks most people would have camped there.
Boo!
# Sep 26 2001 at 10:47 AM Rating: Decent
I want an "Aegis of Lice" with 50sv diesease ;).
Why argue?
# Sep 26 2001 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
I hate to point this out, but this isn't exactly worth the effort of killing the Dain. It's a CGS plus. Only worthwhile because of the cold resist.

While useful on a gorenaire raid, I can't picture people scrambling to get this thing.
Honestly
# Sep 26 2001 at 9:51 AM Rating: Default
As a cleric I wouldn;t even roll on this item. Vek the Sorc drops a similat shield, think one cleric and a palidin wanted. Personally think they just rolled to say they won it. Don;t get me wrong this is a nice item, just don;t think it is anything overly special. Oh btw palidins don;t even get kick, neither do SK. Kick=warrior, monk, ranger.

this drops off dain frostreaver IV
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 25 2001 at 5:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL.. cleric usable, as usual..
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 25 2001 at 5:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Honestly, you're very unlikely to see this on a Cleric... unless the group that hit the Dain didn't have any Paladins or ShadowKnights in it.
It's a dain drop...
# Sep 26 2001 at 7:39 AM Rating: Default
You're highly unlikely to see this on anyone except when they are breaking out the cold resist gear.:\
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 25 2001 at 6:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 2 of the 3 i've seen were on clerics...sks/pallies get this thing called 2 handed weapons :P
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 25 2001 at 7:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your gay you know that? no paladin or SK uses 2hand slashing anymore, not since SK got a 26/25 1hs and paladins got a 25/25 1hs. That with bash dmg is more dmg and taunt.
RE: dain drop
# Sep 25 2001 at 8:05 PM Rating: Default
uh, maybe you should look around your server a little more, I know on xev almost every pally 40+ is using piercing or 2hs

RE: dain drop
# Sep 26 2001 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
As a 47 Paladin, I use my 2hs Ornate Runed Blade for dmg, and when I pull a shaman(In Solb) I bust out my Sword of Skyfire + Slithias Shield for bashing. Hopefully at 49 when I get Holy Might, I wont have to do this as my 2 stuns should repop fast enough.
RE: dain drop
# Sep 25 2001 at 10:38 PM Rating: Default
Actually, the smart Paladins and Shadow Knights keep ALL their weapon skills maxxed so they can effectively wield any weapon that may drop for them in the future.
RE: dain drop
# Sep 25 2001 at 9:10 PM Rating: Default
well I'm a paladin 48 paladin on the Cazic Thule server and most paladins around my level use a sword and shield... kinda hard to stop a spell from being casted if the mob resists your stuns.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 26 2001 at 3:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) at level 55 your kicks act like bash and will stun/interupt spell casters
RE: dain drop
# Sep 26 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Decent
Only a Warriors kick acts as a stun 55+.

But kick still caps lower than bash, so most still carry a shield for stopping spellcasters.
RE: dain drop
# Sep 26 2001 at 7:14 AM Rating: Decent
Yep, but it still will go to Clerics sometimes. Not because other classes can't use it, and not because they don't have better options but mainly because keeping Clerics happy is a full time job =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 25 2001 at 5:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL, or the group that hit the Dain had a paladin/shadow knight who already had it. =) just my 2cp worth
