I made about 4 of these at a skill of 115... couple fails but its so easy to make and its a good way to get your skill up for cheap, but you have to expect alot of fails.. personally i think its better than makeing ornate armor :-( makeing the rings and all sucks. Just my 2 cents ;-)
HQ ore

Another way to get HQ ore is to melt down the fine steel weapons. The amount you get depends on the weapon.
Busted Recipe?
# Jun 13 2003 at 6:01 PM Rating: Default
OK maybe I am jumping at conclusions here. But I tried making a stab at one tonight and the ingredients wouldn't combine (my smithing is at 40).

There isn't a minimum skill to try and make the combine is there?

I double & triple checked my ingrediends to the point that I looked for a "Water Flask" as opposed to a "Flask of Water".

Nevermind. I assumed that every forge in Rivervale was a Vale Forge. There is only one Vale Forge, and it is by the Soulbinder.
Vendor had one for sale
# Apr 21 2003 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
I was in rivervale the other day, when i decided to attemp to make one. well, i couldnt find a neddle and thimble mold. I was checking all the vendors, when i clicked on MEEKA DIGGS, and saw she had one for sale for 1pp and some change. bought it, and clicked on here to see if she had more for sale and there was another one for sale. dont know if she runs out, but if you don't want to make one check meeka

If that was on the Brell server then that ws me that made them and sold the m to the vendor. I could find any one to buy them so I got rid of them.
confused
# Sep 11 2002 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
Does the kit eat valid combines that fail or return all components on failure? And does it work on regular non-cultural tailoring? A bit confused on the useage of the kit. Just risked making one with a smithing skill of 115 tonight and want to be clear on all of its uses. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As far as returning components upon failure, it depends on the recipe. It is a cultural sewing kit, which means it can only be used by the race for which it was designed for, and can only be used for recipies requiring this kit. So check out your cultural armor recipies, and start sewing some of those bags (100% weight reduction, 10 slots!Smiley: yippee )
Leave the janitor alone!

Dont bother to camp the janitor for the small pieces of HQ ore to make this sewing kit. Instead, head over to High Hold Keep and buy a large block of HQ ore (or 2, or 3...) and then head back to Rivervale. In the druid area, next to the non-vale forge, there is an NPC selling smithing supplies. Buy a chisel and put it into the forge with a large block of HQ ore (no water). It turns into a small block. Then repeat with the small block to make 2 small pieces of HQ ore. Its that simple! Then simply put the 2 pieces of HQ ore back into the forge with some water for the bits. The vale forge is over near the female wood elf bard. I made mine on the first attempt with a smithing skill of 110 (Ya, pure luck). Failed making a second one.

So, leave the poor janitor to his duties of cleaning up goblin and newbie guts off the floor and go make your own pieces.
Ok, Stupic question time....

Ok, her is my stupid question... Halflings have to make the sewing kit, but can anyone use it after it has been made? I have read the posts and no-where does it say Halfling only. Can anyone have a go at the cultural armour as long as they have the Vale Sewing Kit made for them?

nice container for bank
# Oct 01 2001 at 11:57 AM Rating: Decent
I think this is a nice container to put in bank. It is 10slot and holds large items, which is sufficient for most items. 7 of these and one tool box should be a nice collection of containers in your bank. ...unless you want to store more than 8 halberds in bank. lol
Kit Components
# Sep 22 2001 at 11:41 AM Rating: Excellent
The Vale sewing kit can only be made by Halfling Smiths using the Vale Forge in Rivervale.

The kit requires needle mold, thimble mold, flask water, and high quality bits to make (trivial 162)

High quality bits are made by combining 2x STACKABLE HQ ore in the Vale Forge (trivial 66)

The stackable HQ ore is a rare drop of a Goblin Janitor in Runnyeye (I killed him 40+ times just to get my 2 pieces!)

I've been camping the Janitor for most of 2 days, only found 1 ore.

At first I was thinking how rediculous this was in being overly difficult to obtain such a minor component.

Then I reconsidered. As halflings can use this kit to pass 200 tailoring w/o paying for any materials, while everyone else must pay 26pp+ / attempt after 158.. it shouldn't be THIS easy. ;P
