Kori, I agree, just wanted to say that you can get exp at 50 in LoIO, Bloodgill Goblins in the Lake itself. Also, theres regular monk epic raids in there, or at least Semi-Regular.

TP doesn't have more GM events because it doesn't have it's on server GM. Every once in awhile, the quest staff will toss out a dynamic GM event onto a server that doesn't have it's own GM, but it's a lot less common then otherwise.

Quests aren't done just by GMs. There is a staff of employees dedicated to performing at least 5 quests a week on every server. GMs and Guides help with that. You may not see every quest, because there are so many zones and only so many helpers.

There is also a staff of Dev Team members and volunteers who do nothing but spread the story of Norrath throughout the game. They aren't there for phat lewt, they are there to make the world a better place for RP. So don't attack every mob you see without at least listening :)

Heh, I've been playing since late 1999 and never seen an event on Prexus. Course, doesn't mean they don't happen, but I've never seen one. Then again, it is time for Prexus to split or do something...the economy sucks for high lvl players, too easy to buy your way to the top.

I see items handed in in GM events all the time..
I send a tell to a GM asking him why I never see GM events on our server (Tholuxe Paells), and all he said was "we all wish we could have more of them." I've NEVER seen one on Tholuxe, and now that I think of it I've never heard of one that happened either.. I don't care if all I get is crap, I wanna see something cool ;)

Just from a standpoint of planning, I can see why there's not more GM events. I agree, by the way, I'd love to see more. Exceptional occurances are the mark of Fantasy, and when all is said and done, EQ is a Fantasy MMORPG. Still, planning, coding, and such, most likely make it VERY tough to have a large number. Also consider the creative talent that VI has tied up in new zones, quests, and Shadows of Luclin. I would guess that there will be a large series of events leading up to SoL, but not having been an active EQ user when Kunark or Velious was launched, that's just a hunch on my part.

I've been an active player since January or so, and am on at least a bit each day or every other day, and I've participated in a grand total of 1 GM event, and that's most likely above average. For VI to have enough GMs to make events common enough that everyone had a high chance of seeing one would raise the subscription rates higher than most would want to pay.

Ah well, I can hope, as well :)

Its really not a lot of programming if you design the correct tools to make it easy to impliment. I really think that verant just hasnt designed the correct tools for the job.

Oh, and this item isnt very good because it was a newbie GM event. Verant has a problem retaining people through about lvl 20 so they are trying to take care of the issues of people of that level. It seems that the dropout rate drops at lvl 40 and lvl 50, so they dont do much to help those players.

Oh, and another monk item wasted on wis casters =p

I've been involved in 2 GM events so far with 2 different characters. The first earned the participants nothing except a few bottles of summoned ale.
The second resulted in a lvl 50+ warrior in Lake of Ill Omen (who had his warrior epic weapons, btw) getting a ring that he later referred to as "crap", although from what I heard my lvl 25 warrior would have loved it. I'm not sure what the hell he expected since he was doing a GM event in a zone 30 levels too low for him to even be in.

I can tell you why they don't do these events more often... because of things like lvl 60 characters showing up in a newbie zone to try to kill all the GM mobs regardless or whether they should be killed or not; people being utter ingrates when they *do* get a reward for their work ("I killed mob x and all I got was this piece of junk!?".... if the person had not been a major twink they'd actually be happy about what they get); and because people don't attempt to PARTICIPATE - all they want is the phat lewt result and couldn't be bothered with the fun of getting there.

Both events I've been to, I pretty much ignored the mad rush to kill, and instead sat down and tried to talk to the GM "NPC" involved. Although difficult to do through all the "Give me your ph4t l3wt!" and "Why can't I kill you?" spam, it was a hell of a lot more fun and more interesting than trying to fight my way through 20 people 40 levels higher than me and try to still kill the mob or whatever.
