Easy money for higher levels

Im making about 2 of these a day while hunting for titans.

Simply stop off at South Ro (Or any zone with asps) and kill a bunch of asps for a stack or 2 of asp venom sacs. After killing a ton of snakes in Stonebrunt, I have never seen asp venom sacs there.

Any panda can drop the claws. I get 4 claws per 8 hours of killing pandas in that zone.

Foraging is by far the easiest thing. I can forage about 3 of each of the bamboo and fruit an hour.

The tiger skins drop from any tigers. Pretty rare. No tiger really drops them any more than any other. I usually get a tiger skin an hour.

All in all, these are easy money for anyone who can kill a titan. The zone is almost always empty of people, so I dont worry about competition. Usually only a druid or 2 there hunting heretics or titans.

I am sold

I originally started with a Lammy and a Centi. When I got this Waki weapon, time-to-kill mobs (solo) went down a huge amount. I first used a combination of this sword with a glowing black (dex up to 150). Good combo for a mid twenties ranger like myself. But I missed the str that I had with the Lammy Centi combo. So now in my off hand is the Lammy (dex down to 130). I still beat the time-to-kill mobs of a Lammy Centi combo but now I have that extra umpf to beat up white to yellow cons. I guess further up in levels this sword will go away (proc 81dd), but for now I love it.
Replacing a Centi

I personally would concentrate on the 6/22 vs 12/25 part, given the randomness of procs, and their chance to be resisted. I think the Centi may do you better off.

And who wants to run through the Warrens anyway?! I mean, at 26, I was STILL getting jumped (how these greenies see through Sonorous Clouding is beyond me)

Pack elders see invisible. Once I figured this out, the run became much easier.

Actually, some kobalds can see invis. I think its the ones with the bat heads, but I could be wrong. I passed by the Kobald bat lord and he jumped me. Level 54 druid with improved sup camo and I had just cast it a few minutes earlier (lasts for 10 minutes fixed time duration). Sometimes invis drops with no warning, like lev does sometimes as well. Keep an eye on the icon and see if it fades or blinks. You may not get a red warning message.

I cast camo on myself before zoning into warrens from paineel. nothin jumps me...even things that con dark blue ignore me.

if you don't have the mullah for the centi this isn't a half bad weapon, i think. i'm currently dual-wielding a Sword of Skyfire (I bought this) and Short Sword or Morin (thinking I should have kept my ebony bladed-ebony was twinked to me-....i dunno). Going for this to replace SSoM, is same dmg/dly, lose some stats, but want to see how often it procs.

i also want to actually earn one of my weapons, instead of having it given to me...but this is gonna take a while for a lvl 28 eh

equip question
# Jun 10 2002 at 1:44 PM Rating: Decent
22 posts
I currently have a Centi shortsword (12/25) and glowing black sword (9/22) on my lvl 25 bard. With the glowing black sword I gain 20dex. My question is: should I replace my Centi SS with this weapon? My dex is about 135 so I imagine this thing will proc a lot which in some cases will do more damage than my centi. Also I have a very high damage output already with the centi ss and glowing black sword and I can easily gain aggro off shadow knights and pallies. Which is a better combo? Centi SS and GBS, or Wazikashi and GBS?
RE: equip question
# Jul 03 2002 at 8:43 PM Rating: Decent
Go for the centi...with a GBS, DEX gear, and a 20DEX shammy buff, putting my friend's dex over 130, the wak procced every once in a while, and often times it didn't do all 81dd or was even resisted...personally, with my 20 warrior (as of last night, but I have yet to see this proc) I have a centi in my main and the wak in the offhand. In 2 hours with 85DEX, it would have procced 12 or 13 times...just my opinion, stay with the GBS and Centi SS. My friend uses them, and can (almost) outdamage himself with a throneblade of ykesha, unless the throneblade crits (150+ at level 31, 160ish strentgh i think. So until 45, when the GBS starts proccing, you're better of with your current weapons, unless you have the money to upgrade to something like a lammy, defiance, or centi LS. just my 2cp.

Taunt?

I know this isn't an easy question to answer, but how does this taunt? Does it hold MOBs fairly well in the mid-levels? The only reason I would buy such an item is for taunting in a group. As a paladin without dual wield, I doubt if I could solo with this.
RE: Taunt?
# May 31 2002 at 10:26 AM Rating: Good
Well, let's say this.

I don't know about Pallies much, but, I am pretty sure a ranger with a pair of these would out taunt you anyday.

My Dex, when dual wielding these bad boys is about 120. It takes a Lammy + CLS to keep the taunt off of me. Those procs are deadly in the right situation.

When I use my Wak + SSoM combo (both are 6/22) Taunt is never on me. The Low dmg is made up by the procs. Those procs do add up.

So, in conclusion. Because Paladins can't dual wield, I would have to say you would never keep mobs on you with this blade. Leave it for rangers and bards. =)

(FYI 4 Tyga. He is on the FV server. TLC is active on the WHOLE SERVER.)
RE: Taunt?
# May 14 2002 at 8:34 AM Rating: Decent
Personally, I'mnot too crazy about this weapon. The damage is a little low and the proc is random (although 81DD isnt bad at all!) therefore, some fights I didnt see it. As for taunt-ability, I wouldnt recommend relying on the Wak to save your group-mates life.
I'm not expert on compiled damages (level, damage bonus, etc), I hit, kill and sometimes die, but I *do* watch my damages pretty closely and what I found was that the wak hit a lot, but the damage was laughable. At the time I was a level 30 Ranger with a few *minor* guild-gifted twink items. My main was am Icetooth's Claw and my secondary was a Velium Short Blade. Granted, the VSB only proc'd 12 damage, but it was a fairly reliable and fast proc, unlike the Wak.
As for selling it, when I had first started questing this thing, it was when Stonebrunt first came live and the Waks were going for 700-1k each. But, now I can get one for under 200plat, this pretty much reflects the overall combat value of a weapon imo...the more it costs, the rarer it is OR the better it is OR both (Lamy, Wurmy, CSS, CLS are good examples).
If yer a Paly looking to taunt, go for the Messenger of the Queen, I've seen fairly high level Paladins use it to great effectiveness.

More bang for the buck...CSS or CLS and Lamy if you get dual weild.

Like I said before, I'm no expert, but paying a lot of attention and adding in a certain amount of common sense will make your fighting ability and knowledge-base that much better.

BTW you CAN get panda claws off young pandas, just make sure what you kill is able to give xp (I love the Triv Loot code!) otherwise, you just got all scratched up for nothing.

Fear kiting
# Apr 30 2002 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
Take a druid or ranger, definitely. They can forage the fruit and bamboo shoots. They can track pandas, too, and that is the hardest part. Panda claws drop off all pandas, but seem to be pretty darned rare. AND!... druids and rangers can fear kite. Just terrorize the critters and then stand back and nuke or let the melee types whack without retribution. And Terrorize Animals give the group the chance to do the Bugout Boogie when all the adds come. Not to mention having those great new evac spells that druids have. This is one of the most beautiful zones in Norrath, but is ROUGH on low 30's characters.

Take your Druid now - If you are careful - avoid adds - Easy quest - have gathered up 6 of these swords while I camp the heretics... BEFORE YOU GO - Go to oasis and kill some asps, gather at LEAST 2 of the poison sacks - they are tho ONLY component that can not be gathered in zone

The poison can be found on Emerald Adders. It's a fairly uncommon drop but I've gotten a few while trying to get Slyder to pop.

This may be possible, but after a week of killing just about everything in the zone trying to spawn titans, I am yet to see an emerald adder drop even one of these. Its far easier to make a stop off in South Ro or Oasis. These are common drops off the Asps, and can possibly be purchased in bunk from merchants in the area.
RE: What lvl - 35onRng or Druid
# Jun 26 2002 at 1:00 PM Rating: Decent
you usre about this?

they are "_asp_ poison sacs", i don't see how an adder could have an asp sac....i could be wrong, but i wouldn't rely on it personally. much easier to go kill some asps in oasis...or if you have a good bit of money you can buy them off the gypsies sometimes...cost is around 1pp me thinks.

35 Druid definately. Tracking for pandas and the forage for the fruit and the bamboo. Also I did it with a 34 Druid. And stuff will still give you xp. Wolf form to agro no wandering mobs, but cat people will jump you. I just kept getting adds and jumped and was scary untill I used wolf form, just unclick it when comming up to cat town.

My take on the forage thing is that it's been fixed. Got into the zone yesterday and everytime I foraged I got one or the other or rabbit meat, almost in turn. My forage, btw, is at 165, but with the recent change to the foraging tables, I don't think it should matter, especially not THIS much.

I tried this quest forever, didn't finally forage anything up til I had a skill of 200. Soon as I got that 200th point seems I couldn't stop pulling up the stuff. I have enough of the forages on me to do it 3 more times. /agree that the Panda claws are the hard part to get.

I have done this quest 6 times in the past 3 weeks. It's working fine. Have 7 or 8 of the foraged fruits left over. Getting the panda claws is the hardest part of the quest, even with high level track skill.

It is Foragable, when I foraged it i was next to the Warrens zone. It's a pretty rare forage though.

When hunting for the pandas and nediak tigers where is a good pull area? Man I was just up there fighting and everytime I PA a panda or tiger I always got adds.

Thanks
RE: Pull Area
# May 24 2002 at 3:14 PM Rating: Decent
Two good spots are east of the river just south of the path to the village. No pathing here and fear chases them up a hill where they just spin in circles.
Another spot is north of the village just south of the Highland Kabold camp. East of a small mountain. To the west is a pit full of critters. Pull from the pit to the east of the mountain and scare the tar outa em. They run along the side of the mountain with no adds.

Have fun. I loved the zone spent 10 levels there, :)
RE: Pull Area
# Mar 22 2002 at 10:34 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings,

One fairly safe spot to pull to when fighting in Stonebrunt is in the southeast corner of the zone, near the waterline, between the creek and the Kobald encampment, a level clearing on top of the rise. From here, you can watch various MoBs as they pass by with relative safety. I would be interested in other safe places that you have discovered. Of course you can always pull to the village as has already been mentioned.

May Tunare guide your Path,
RE: Pull Area
# Mar 18 2002 at 2:20 PM Rating: Decent
i found that a good area was the big meadow along the stream, just south of the kobold tents. You can see quite far, so when things are coming you can move away and let the mob walk by. A lot easier if you are a ranger fear kiting tho.

RE: proc

80 dex is not high enough. The higher your dex is the more often it wil proc. I keep my dex anywhere between 120-150 atm depending on what I'm wearing. Try getting some better dex gear my young friend...
RE: proc
# Mar 18 2002 at 10:20 PM Rating: Decent
I bought one for 260pp and a kunzar cloak. I gave it to my brand new bard. Hes fairly twinked wiht 120dex 127 wiht my song and I use this weapon as my mainhand of course. Even though I'm not high enough for the proc I still know when it procs; it says "Your will is not sufficent to comman this weapon." I'm fighting a puma at lvl 5 and It says it at least 4 times fight, these fights being less than a minute long. So you see what a little dex can do it's not hard to get items to put it up either.

Easy quest
# Mar 04 2002 at 10:11 AM Rating: Good
Here is my run down on the qeust, completed several times by my 35 Ranger:

Get the asp poison sacs first before heading to stonebrunt mtns! This will save you a return trip. Forget the asps in EC and North Ro. They didnt drop anything but snake venom sacs. Hunt the cistern asps in oasis. I got several asp venom sacs in no time. Get a bunch cause this sword is not lore and can be multi quested!

Foraging the Bamboo Shoot (looks like a root) and Kejekan Palm Fruit (looks like fruit or berries) was a breeze at my 135 Forage skill. They can be foraged anywhere in the zone.

Hunt only the Kejak tigers. The other tigers and tigeresses didnt drop any Tiger Skins for me at all. The Kejaks dropped them at least once out of 4 or 5 kills for me.

Hunt ONLY the Panda Cubs for the Panda Claws. The mature and elder pandas didnt drop any at all for me!

Hope this helps. Nice sword procs at level 20. Good for the low levels in your guild.

I have foraged 3 bamboo shoots and 1 of the fruits in just a few hours.I am a 31 druid with 137 forage skill. So all the rumors about having to have maxed forage is bull.So they are definately not "broken."I hope this helps some people.Another thing is that i believe that there is no "spot" to forage them,it is probably random. But if you must know,i foraged them mostly in the highlands area,at one of the kobold camps.

Any chance that those foraged items are now found on the ground, in the hard-to-see jungle areas? (NPC says you`ll have to find these items in the jungle).

A high level Ranger, when I told him that foraged items were broken, said something like "Oh well, guess you can only pick them up now".

Never got to the bottom of it.
