Does anyone know if this spear still drop? It seems to be unconfirmed, only says Xygoz used to drop it. *shrug* I hope so this would be really nice to have.
Near the zone in, past the lava bridge, there is an intersection. Instead of turning, go straight. Should reach a dead end. PH's are between the bridge and the dead end.
I heard someone say here this is melee but the spear says effect ? Doesn't that mean clicky ? If it is clicky, with a SOF and this a shaman would be able to solo like a druid.

If that is not enough I will ********** in front of Bill Clinton. I can't imagine of the value to a shaman this would be...
My friend and often times duoing partner is a shaman and recently got this spear. Let me tell you, from his accounts, it's VERY nice for soloing. Ensnare lasts forever. Once he even went LD, came back and the mob he was fighting was right where he left it.
This is a proc and not a click, wich is too bad, but it dosn't seem to matter too much. Shamans often times seem to melee while laying on dots and such while their target is slowed so my friend just switches this in place of his epic until the thing is snared then just switches back. Never even stops meleeing.
I imagine nothing is more annoying to a soloing shaman than to have a mob break root and beat feet when it's almost dead and get you a whole mess of adds. Even if it wouldn't get you adds, dots are coded to only do a portion of their full damage if a mob is moving so breaking root and having a mob run lowers your DPS and if you've mastered your dot stacking for that particular mob, it can even mean wasteing mana/time on more damage to kill it.
I am sure BSTs are the same way as they are partial shamans but, as far as I know, there are not any on my server even with their keys so I can't say how much they like it. :) Seems pretty useless for a ranger but might make a nice toy for warriors in ghetto seb groups that don't have a snare class.
This is where you are both wrong. Now that EQ has a dot damage display, I dot a mob and run from it with my pet biting at its heals. The dot does full damage. The only difference is if I go in big circles, my pet down less damage to the mob as to smaller circles where the mob can't build us speed and thus my pet catches it more with more damage. So if you consider a PET a dot, hehe, then you would be right.
This actually USED to be true. A long time ago (around the time of that post) Verant tried to nerf Druid and Necro soloing by making mobs take less damage from DoTs if they're walking around (ie being kited) as opposed to standing still. Of course this just meant that Druids and Necros started rooting all their mobs after snaring them. It was undone some time later.
Woot! Nice spear! Granted I know you get better ratios then this at the level required to get it, The stats alone are worth it, the ratio is pretty good, the proc makes me cry in desire. Add in it can be range-sloted, how many 11 wis range slot items are there for shamans? All in all I'd love to get this, but I'd have to go on a raid or such to get it at my level or have really kind friends willing to let me loot it. I do wonder at the no drop however, I'd trade both my JCP and my Spine-chill for this, but I doubt combined they would even begin to match the value this thing would have been. All in all though a decent shammy spear. Thanks to listen to this shammy ramble on
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spell cast on you: You are ensnared. Spell cast on someone: Soandso has been ensnared. Spell fades: You are no longer ensnared.

Reason being that so much of this site is possible because of the people reading it putting into it, sending in those stats, screenshots, etc etc.. Quite simply wouldn't be here without em, and did they do it thinking that people would have to pay like this to see what they put in? Doubt it.. granted it can still be seen, but making it a pest to get to in an effort to make people pay for it is, imo, just not on.
However, consider 1) the time and effort Alla puts in himself maintaining this site, and 2) the cost of hosting a website with a database as large as this one.. banner adds just don't cut it these days. Personally, as soon as I get my new card from my new bank, I'm reactivating my account with Alla, IMO it is worth every penny.
Even if this is way off topic for the spear, I will comment.
You will not be paying for any words or pictures. As far as I understand, all information on the site will remain free. The features that will require membership is the majority of search features.
I think it is a good compromise.
You should at least wait and see if you still find the site usefull, after some features, members only.
And no there are no sites on par with this! Some are better in selected areas, but I would say Allakhazams is by far the best general purpose site.
also, if you haven't noticed, as soon as the new premium site was announced they kept hitting on the fact that most of it will still be free... just new upgraded features that will cost, as well as features that create the most lag on servers... i'm not sure but pretty sure that the item search will still be usable and features like that, I can't right now but as soon as I can i'm going to start paying for the premium membership, this is the best EQ site out there and well worth the money
I don't mean to be rude, but you might tell your parents that they couldn't be more wrong.
Not paying for words and pictures is probably the WORST idea in the world. Tell them they are no longer allowed to buy newspapers, books, magazines. If you have cable/satellite, or hell, even a TV...then they damn well better get rid of it.
Words and pictures are two of the most important things in the human race.
Now, if the reason is more of an economic one...then that's fine. It's hard to justify paying for something that is entertainment, when you have enough trouble scrounging up money for the electric bill.
Please don't take this as an attack, just as a clarification. I just bought a house, and my money issues are quite stressful right now. I cannot justify the expense, no matter how small it is. I do hope that I can find a way, and am actively looking for that way.
As an answer to your question...there is no other site as well laid out, with as much information, as this one here. Allakhazam, Illia, Muse have nothing but my respect for what they did, do, and will have to do in the future.
I believe he was saying That reading is o very very very good thing. "NOT paying" is bad, or rather Paying for books is good. I have a very large library and I couldn't agree more.
Moreover, this site, along with EQatlas, are the sites I use almost all the time. I am just now discovering some of the functions this site allows and finding them to be well above most other sites. Including the search functions and the vast database... I don't think you can compare other sites.
You pay for those libraries indirectly - your taxes (or those of your parents if you are to young to pay taxes) pay for them. You are still paying for words/pictures.
From what i can tell when you become a premium member, basicly you get the ease of use the sight has had previously, and you get a faster sight. The reason i use this site is because of its ease of use as compared to other sites , and it runs good. I have asked my parents about signing up to many websites, including this one, and they dont think its money worth spending on "things for some game" as they put it.
I'm a Lvl 60 shaman, who really prefers to spend more time alone than grouping, and I tell you what, I'd give my dog's nuts for the ability to cast snare whenever I needed.
This proc, while random, is pretty much a guarantee once I Focus and VoB myself.
Excellent weapon for a shaman that solos just for the proc alone, especially since we can not snare otherwise.
Anyone who plays PvP will recognize the usefulness of a snare proc, even if it resists a lot of the time. I would want one of these for my shaman, just as a PvP weapon once I complete my epic :D
Using it this way could be a valuable addition to the main tank's mob-keeping ability. The main tank doesn't really need to dish out high damage as long as he keeps the mob on him.
I've been able to keep mobs attacking me by simply snaring and taunting them. I'll do this to save younger characters who bit off a bit too much but it lets them still kill the mob.
Other than that, I think it would be an excellent Shaman range item. I'm not too familiar with high level shaman items though so I may be wrong there.
At first I was pretty puzzled about why a Ranger was an accepted class here and a Rogue was not. This is a pretty decent piercer after all but nothing super unbalancing. Then I looked a little closer, saw where it was dropping and wondered why Warrior still was an option.
I can't honestly see anyone but a Warrior in an experience group pulling one of these out by the time it is attainable. Of course, a Ranger might range-slot it and who knows where a Beastlord's strength lies. Still, 13/23 is not that sharp of a ratio by the time you are in ToV and relying on a proc to snare is suicidal. It is still a pretty nice weapon though, a real shame it cannot be offhanded. It's on par with Xygoz's other drops though, a little better than some and worse than others.
