I got my sash on the second attempt too, with 3 male & 1 female heads in the container on the second try, my first try I had 2 of both sexes and only got the headband, but I agree, this is purely coincidence. I did the 2 quests a couple of days apart as well. I tended to see the heretics between the hours of 3am-11am game time, if this helps at all. And I did once manage to see 2 on track and kill them both, as well as their heads they both had a kite shield and fine steel katanas on them.
Just for the record, anyone claiming a certain combination of heads guarantees you the quest is full of BS. And your faction with the kitties doesn't make a difference as long as they talk to you about the quest.
I got the sash on my second attempt. Combination was 3 male heads and 1 female. The first time of 2 male and 2 female heads only got me the headband. This quest has to be random as to which item you get. My faction with the kitties both times I did the quest was "indifferent."
Anyone who has been getting the sash by handing in a certain combination has got to be coincidence. How can Verant have a quest for a sash item that is that easy to get? Others I have talked to who have done the quest while I have been out in Stonebrunt have the said the same thing.
On my second attempt I got the haste sash today, turning in a pack with two female and two male heads. My prior attempt involved a pack with four male heads, from which I got the booby prize. Interestingly, I have seen far more female invaders of late - the last three I brought down were female - and two of the three cast "possession" spells on me which had me walking away across Stonebrunt right towards assorted pandas and tigers... Spell broke in 5-10 seconds. Perhaps half of the male invaders I had previously killed had harm touch which on the first cast gouged out 241 hp from my red bar...
I had been hoping to move out from Stonebrunt to Luclin soon, and finishing this quest was the last thing holding me in that zone. This quest takes time - especially with the random prize - and I am thrilled it only took two attempts.
Well I got extremely lucky, 1st time I got it. I was only gonna try once and then move on. Didnt want to spend a lot of time on it. Got one head about 3 weeks ago, left the zone, and then gone one head last night and another two today while hunting pandas.
I received the Sash the fourth time completing the quest. I think if everyone who gets the sash posts how many times they had to do the quest before they got the sash we could get a pretty good idea of the frequency that it is handed out in.
Well... One thing I'd like to know is: DOES THE HASTE STACK????
I mean, I use a Two-Handed Mithril Sword (with something like 30% haste on it) and I'd like to know if these 35% can stack with the Swiftclaw 20%... Would be great...
1 HASTE ITEM + 1 HASTE SPELL + 1 SPECIAL BARD SONG HASTE. Higher haste is always used. There's only 2 bard hastes that I know of, the are L55 and 60 I think. and add 5% and 10% haste on top of spell+item. Maybe one new one out of luclin, but I think they nerfed it. All other bard haste songs are considered the spell haste. This will not stack with any other permanent haste item. fbss, cof, rbb etc etc etc..
I have heard that it will not stack. My understanding is that a permanent effect will not stack with another permanent effect that is the same; however, a proc will stack with an effect..
So FBSS and Mithril haste will not stack, but FBSS and haste proc from Earthen Blade will..
Usually the haste from different items does NOT stack. The only time I would *think* that it does is when it is a proc (which gives you a spell icon on your screen). I know that if you have an RBG and a Cloak of Flames (just examples) you will get the haste from the Cloak of Flames (since it's actually more). The spells and songs are kinda different, but on the actual items, no, it uses the highest haste item.
at long last i have got around to posting the map as promised. they are random spawns in all aspects but i hope this makes your search a bit easer. you can see a patern if you squint your eyes ...heh.
anyway it is at: http://www.ninety99nine.net/hereticspawn.jpg
oh feel free to visit my site which is the ninety99nine.net (shameless plug)
i got the sash the other day. i did the quest seven times after hunting for a few weeks for heretics! FINALY got it. after a while i started to make dots on a map of stonebrunt i printed out. each dot is the loc of where i fount the heretic. there are 22 dots. if anyone is interested at seeing a screenshot say so and i will see about scanning it.
I am doing this quest and i would greatly appreciate the map you have or the coordinates in which you killed the Heretics. Email is Erikboy2000@hotmail.com
I just completed this quest last night, and have been using the Sash in place of my Spider Fur belt (still debating the AC AGI and DEX loss) and have worn an FBSS as well. I'd have to say a seat of the pants estimate would be around 16-19% haste. The FBSS is DEFINATELY faster, although I'd have to say not by that much. I'd say this quest took around a week of off and on playing to complete it, but since I've been getting offers of 6k already on the sash, I would say it's worth it. If you want a haste item without the "Cliche" of an FBSS and you are around low to mid 30s, take the time and do the quest...oh...and be sure to bring a ranger.
As far as the Swiftclaw/Spider Fur trade goes, I'm in the same boat. Leaning towards carrying both and using the SF when I'm tanking (/cringe ... i'm a ranger too) and the Swiftclaw for damage dealing/fear-kiting.
I have been workign on a new haste parsing program...
Here is the deal...it is tough to get a decent percent from the current logs since they register only to the seconds....so...
My parser includes a log follower that restamps the log with microseconds. This has some flaws of its own (cpu load, EQ client lag, etc), but over time and data gathering, it is more accurate means than the current methods (because the above factors swing back and forth and will be compensated for by a longer or shorter time the next attack round, so averages will be very accurate with lots of data).
Now, I have this sash and I have FBSS... here is what I found so far (need more data):
I am fairly confident in this data so far. I have heard that FBSS is 19% or 21% depending on the delay calculation you use... not sure what that is all about...
I have tested my program without using a haste belt. I use a weapon with delay of 19, and my program averages it out to 19.05 delay (from one mob kill only). That is pretty good accuracy for one short test...
If I make my program more user friendly, I will release it to the EQ public...but with DAoC on the horizon...seems unlikely in the near future.
if you need any sort of help developing the program, i'd be more than happy to offer my assistance. i'm a software engineer by trade with experience in several languages. email me at: benedrac @ yahoo.com
Has it ever occured to anyone that haste affects different weapons differently? The higher end a weapon is, the LOWER its delay floor. Bearing that in mind...The higher the delay, the more room there is for improvement. Now, the actual numbers are a closely guarded secret at VA Headquarters. I do not think haste is just a simple percentage. I think there are many other factors at work to give us the final, ending result. For some of us, haste is haste......gimme all you got hehe. For those other people that are trying to figure it out, I applaud your efforts. I just wanted to share some ideas I have had concerning haste and how it affects melee combat. Btw, I plan to quest for my own sash starting after this post. Take good care all. Godspeed.
I got the sash with my level 24 druid. And he is not twinked in anyway, in fact he is stripped. It was a pain to it, I died 8-9 time but I did get it. about 20 hours of play time and 8 heads later my pally now has the sash. So it's really not that hard to get, oh and the haste is a little better then the fbss, about 22-23%.
Well, I just did a "quick" test last night with my new sash...here's what I got:
Note: This was just a quick and simple test...the method was to target myself and kick (as fast as I can) 10 times. This is supose to rule out any duel weild and double attack atributes. Then parse the log file for the time stamp on "Try attacking someone other than yourself, it's more productive."
<b>WITH Swiftclaw Sash:</b> ----------------------- Between 1 and 2: 7 secs Between 2 and 3: 8 secs Between 3 and 4: 7 secs Between 4 and 5: 8 secs Between 5 and 6: 7 secs Between 6 and 7: 7 secs Between 7 and 8: 8 secs Between 8 and 9: 7 secs Between 9 and 10: 7 secs Avg. between kicks: 7.33 secs
<b>WITHOUT Swiftclaw Sash:</b> ----------------------- Between 1 and 2: 8 secs Between 2 and 3: 9 secs Between 3 and 4: 8 secs Between 4 and 5: 9 secs Between 5 and 6: 8 secs Between 6 and 7: 9 secs Between 7 and 8: 8 secs Between 8 and 9: 8 secs Between 9 and 10: 9 secs Avg. between kicks: 8.44 secs
Where can i find these Heritics. I have a 46 druid and pleanty of time and i need one for my pally. But anything over 20% haste does sound a bit unreasonable for the lvl of this test. And just cause it says that the lvl range is 25-60 doesnt mean a 25 could solo these and get the sash. It would take a very twinked well played group to do this.
Just my opinions but can someone help on where these can be found please?
They spawn at several locations in the south of the zone. The exact spawn points haven't been confirmed. If you find yourself a safe spot roughly halfway between the town and the dock and constantly monitor track you will find them. Then Levitate and run after them! Note though that there seems to be just one spawn per EQ day, though the time of the spawn is random. This means you can get a couple close together and then a LONG wait for the next.
The Heretics are very green to me at 40 but were blue to a level 33. The heads still dropped for me at 40, and the quest was still given to me at 40.
I have now seen several places confirm my 15% estimate for the haste, but no "definitive" answer.
I've seen two spawn about 30 game minutes apart, so I doubt it could be one spawn per day.
Part of the problem with finding them is that the wildlife hates them as much as they hate us. I have seen Kobolds and cats both fighting the stupid Heretics. I have seen about 5 of them die that way. If you do see them engaged in a fight, kill whatever they are fighting first...then kill them. That way there is a corpse when you're done...
I finally got my Swiftclaw Sash in Stonebrunt at the 5th (!) attempt For those of you following the theories about how to get a sash instead of a headband, I handed in 4 female heads this time, my view is that it is only chance and the combination of heads doesn't matter!
So now I want to measure the haste, as I have seen everything from 9% to 40% quoted. Here is what I did:
* DHY in main hand * Crude Stein in Off hand (rules out Dual Wield) * selected myself * count just MELEE ATTACK button depressions - this should rule out Double Attack? Certainly the button depressions were regularly spaced * hit auto-attack and counted for 3 minutes, no sash * repeat with sash * repeat both again just to verify counting
Results: * no sash, 46 attacks * with sash, 53 attacks * exactly same numbers for 2nd attempt * so 7 additional attacks over 46
Now, I don't know what "% haste" means, but 7 is 15% of 46, so I made 15% more attacks with the sash than without.
Feel free to point out flaws in my method or maths. I am only curious really, because it is a good enough improvement for me, especially as it was free and I solo'd it
Got one tonight. Did some testing. Tested against river source for about a minute. Calculated the effective weapon delay with the sash on. Calculated the weapon delay without the sash on to make sure my methods worked. Got the correct answers for the latter, so assume near correct for the former.
Using a 24/39 BABS, I get an effective delay of between 35.3 and 34.1, which works out to a haste (not delay reduction) of 9.5 - 12.5%.
Using a 8/23 DH Ykesha, I get an effective delay of 18.7 - 19.4, which works out to a haste of 15.9 - 18.65%.
I don't know why these numbers are different. I noticed that at the end of the run with the BABS, my stamina was down to around one bubble from swimming and swinging the sword, and I've heard that can affect attack speed. I'd be comfortable saying it's around 17% haste.
In any case, every number in the pricing data that doesn't represent an actual price it was bought or sold at ("d00d, this is worth 10k!!!!") should be cleared out.
BTW, the numbers I got from my log files for the delay without the sash was 39.333... for the BABS, and 22.8..something for the DHY, both close enough for me to rely on the method.
A DH Ykesha has delay 23. 3 minutes is 180 seconds. 180 / 46 = 3.91.... So I'm not convinced that the button is a good thing to measure. I'm thinking that the button may be a client side thing, which isn't accurately tied in to the actual attacks.
Best way is to log yourself beating on something (river source, friend in the arena) with misses turned on, then look at the log file.
Glancing at some log files with me using a DHY, it looks like it is actually 2.3 seconds between attacks (or 4.6 or 6.9 depending on misses).
i have never flamed before, but this is just impossible to let go. look at the price people! someone threw in a price of 10000pp saying it's close to dragonborn sash. this is ludicrous. it's no coincidence i'm sure that this was that person's first price listing on any item. i haven't seen any posts by him/her either. it's absolutely pathetic what people will do to bump up the price on a low level item.
i know how frustrating it is being low/mid level, untwinked, with an average inventory, and broke. i know, because i am all those. but if you spend the entire game focused entirely on getting cool stuff, i think you're missing out on a more complete gaming experience.
this isn't "itemquest", nor is it "levelquest", though it comes darn close to both sometimes. those are both good things, and i admit no one, including me, would play the game if both those things were not in it. but if it gets to the point where you're so intent on those things that it leads you to such desparate measures, well... the game becomes not as fun as it could be. it stops serving one of it's purposes as a game, which is to offer a release from the anxieties of everyday life, and instead becomes another source of anxiety for yourself and other people.
sometimes i enjoy merely going invis and exploring a new area. or talking to the npc's that won't kill me (heh). or even just hanging out and chatting with guildmates or someone i just met. at those times the game is exactly what i want it to be: relaxing, enjoyable, interesting. yes i still try to level, yes i'm still looking to improve my equipment. but i'm not going to bamboozle (hehe fun word) people by jacking up prices or something like that.
ok enough of that. i won't waste anymore valuable database space with more b*tching and moaning.
#Anonymous,
Posted:Sep 29 2001 at 10:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I find an uninformed post ludicrous. This is not a question of "driving up the price", it is rather a question of people awakening to the worth of the item. What I find ludicrous is people that accuse others of things like price fixing before they have done their homework themselves. Do look at Allakhazam's "average price" and then be so kind as to click on where it says "pricing data". You will see that Allakhazam itself states that this price data reliablity is "awful". Why...you ask? Simple. It is a new item, and their price is based what the item has so far sold for. Well a few people have unwittingly sold a very valuable item for a disgustingly low price, simply out of their own ignorance and unwillingless to do the research. So, tell me, would that not be driving the price down, rather than up as you so firmly declared? The facts are the facts. This item is better than the FBSS, which sells for up to 7.5k. It is, due not only to it's haste, but also it's other stats, comprable to the dragonborn sash, which sells for 15-18k. I pity those that sold it for such low prices, if they are not already, they WILL be kicking themselves. And word of advice Benedrac? Do the research before going off on your first "flame". You only made yourself look ill-informed. :)
yeah i also would like to know, i was kind of hoping that they fixed the quest meaning that they fixed you getting the wrong item sometimes fromthis quest and it will always give swiftclaw sash. =) wishful thinking eh
I'd be interested to hear if anyone gets a Sash after this patch. The patch message said that a quest in Stonebrunt was fixed that was giving out the wrong item. I'm really hoping it wasn't this one.
