How sad! A level 65 mob that drops Panda Claws a newbie can wear. Umm Ok. I don't think I would want to waste my time on that one. The other drops aren't too bad. My point being , that a high level mob should drop better items than this.

Claws on Cubs
# Jun 23 2004 at 11:02 AM Rating: Decent
The Panda Claws can in fact be found on the low level Panda Cub - confirmed two nights ago (last one I needed for Wakizashi quest). It may be a very rare drop for the Cubs (according to what others have stated) but it does happen.

And what someone wrote about seeing the Claw in the right paw of the Panda is correct - you really can see something there if you are close enough. Usually looked more like a bracelet around the right wrist or something in the palm rather than a long claw attached to the paw. Can save some time if you are specifically looking just for Claws.

I can confirm that you needn't kill every panda you see. If you approach them from behind you can see if they have claws. There will be a second set of claws that sticks out more from the palm of the hand or wrist. Right hand is where to look. If you don't see it, dont waste your time unless you are killing in hopes that they respawn with a claw...
Panda claws off of cubs?
# Nov 28 2003 at 11:36 PM Rating: Decent
So far, and after killing many, many cubs, I have not ever found the claws on cubs.

Off of young, mature and elder pandas, yeah, but never off of cubs. Don't waste your time unless they're for xp or just getting the 5gp and change for the pelt.

Tonight, I killed 4 panda cubs in about two hours and got claws off of two of them.

I was just in Thurgadin yesterday. I checked all the vendors (including Brynjar) and no panda claws. Guess I'll have to keep hunting pandas...

Why are you looking in Thurgadin for panda claws? Thurgadin is a Velious zone, Stonebrunt is an Old World zone..... Doesn't make sense IMHO

looted in Shadeweavers
# Dec 09 2002 at 1:38 PM Rating: Default
FYI, my lvl 11 Vah Shir bard looted one of these in Shadeweaver's Thicket. Not 100% sure which mob, but fairly certain it would have been a Loda Kai poacher. Glad to sell it on Rodcet Nife, just give Jharin a holler

The Panda Claws dont drop in Shadeweaver's Thicket. High Apprentice's Pitchatka is what drops in SW. Both claw looking weps though.

I have received three whole claws in about 6 hours of hunting. Two dropped off the cubs, and one off the elder. Just to give you an idea of how many pandas I killed, I have 57 panda pelts in my backpack (what the hell are they for?) and these drop once every two or three kills.

One more claw, and I'm getting my second sword and leaving this place for good.

Safe Pull Spots
# Mar 22 2002 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings,

Slightly off topic, but I did want to let people know of a fairly safe spot to pull to when fighting in Stonebrunt. In the southeast corner of the zone, near the waterline, between the creek and the Kobald encampment, is a level clearing on top of the rise. From here, you can watch various MoBs as they pass by with relative safety. I would be interested in other safe places that you have discovered. Of course you can always pull to the cat city as well.

May Tunare guide your Path,

# Nov 05 2001 at 11:52 AM Rating: Decent
I am ALWAYS interested in perchasing a few of these so send me a tell on Sol A server.

The bamboo can be foraged in SB.
Found on....
# Sep 25 2001 at 4:12 PM Rating: Excellent
Hiyas all, just dropping a note since the specific panda that drops isn't listed.... But so far only a mature panda and a young panda have dropped one for me... I am in no way indicating that these are the ONLY mobs that drop... so don't flag me. By the way, be prepared to be in Stonebrunt for quite a while if you are going to camp these for the claws. First claw dropped after about 3 hours of solid panda-whacking, second claw landed in my backpack another 2 hours later. Frequency of drop on such a weak weapon is a tad frustrating, but most of us are doing it for the sword quest.

As always, quest well and /petition often
RE: Found on....
# Aug 19 2003 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
Panda cubs have 'em too - again, just look close - you'll see the claw sticking out of the back of their right paw if they're carrying one (if you can get that close, that is...)
i.e. - all pandas have a chance of carrying 'em.
About the bamboo
# Nov 05 2001 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
The Bamboo can be foraged in SB but skill should be maxed to have a good change of grabbin it.

If you're on Sol A server and you have a pair send me a tell. I am very interested in perchasing a few of these.
Only worth 30 plat but...

These are used as part of a quest in sb for wakizashi of the frozen skies which imho is a pretty good weopon.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 30 2001 at 9:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was gonna bring my char to stonebrunt until i saw how crappy most of the items were. These are worse then frozen long swords. Verant should be slapped for throwing crap like this in a zone that could have been cool.

This guys sounds likethat SK I was helping.. new char and all, turned up her nose on free fine plate because it was "too heavy" and she wanted nothing but flayed... Kids these days have no sense of what things are worth cause not a one of them had to WORK for it...

RE: POS
# Aug 31 2001 at 7:40 AM Rating: Excellent
Problem I see with most people these days, is that their view on items has been narrowed by the fact that they have a level 60 with several thousand plat in the bank that can buy uberish items for their twinks.... so anything not Uber sucks to them.... nevermind that some of these items might be a good upgrade for a level 20 - 30 non-twink who's trying to fend for themselves. Before judging an item, think of the level of the zone and the mobs the item comes from.
"Oh my god, I just got a rusty Longsword off a Decaying Skeleton, and the stats on this thing sucks!"

HAHA!!! Jaded nailed that one to the wall!!

But on the lighter side...
Has anyone finished this quest? Will Jali's wife be ok? <panic> Also, does anyone know if bamboo shoots and kejekan palm fruit is foraged, looted, or a ground spawn?
RE: POS
# Aug 31 2001 at 2:02 AM Rating: Decent
Well, Stonebrunt Mountains aren't designed as a 'loot' zone. It was even mentioned in the press release that it is a zone similar to LOIO, and as far as I know there ain't much loot items in that zone that are worth to go for. SM is just 2 days online now and it might be that there are some fine drops out there, so I guess its a bit to early to blame the loot table of this zone. But even if there won't be any great loot available, it might be another good zone to hunt for Exp, like LOIO or Oasis.

RE: POS
# Aug 31 2001 at 3:25 AM Rating: Good
Lol... another Everloot player, or Everplat or Everbankaccount or whatever you think this game is called. Stonebrunt is a very balanced, progressive zone, featuring great xp hunting along with multiple in zone quests that can be completed at an appropriate level, not farmed by greedy ubertwinks. If you look at this zone with a shred of perspective as a legitimate noob (gasp! where did the 10k plat in my bank go??), you'd realize that some of these drops actually make sense. Hehe if you want a new zone to farm, wait until the expansion comes out and take your ignorant twink druid to Luclin and farm the newbie zone for moon pies or whatever.

Jaded
RE: POS
# Aug 31 2001 at 6:31 PM Rating: Decent
Yea, stupid twinks...im a lvl 25 wizard with 300pp in the bank and gear worth 1k max total...

The big reason that this new zone has been added is A)There isnt enough zones in that continent, B)they would like to see erudrites stay on Odus to level up(instead of piling onto boats and going to qeynos), and C)to bring more people to Odus.

there are probably some more, but this are big ones. People miss out on the great XP on Kerra isle because 'loot sucks', but look at this...no one is ever there and it is 20% XP bonus. How much guerilla hide have you seen floating around? i havent seen much at all, but thats on TZ. Stonebrunt will just go dead like the warrens did...mainly hunted by low lvl erudrites.

Im not a power gamer...heck, it takes me near a week to gain lvl 14! none of my characters are twinked, and my max char is lvl 25, and i have been playing close to half a year on TZ...The thing is, twinks can only think of high lvl gear...when they see 7 30's they say "hah, what a piece of crap that is, i have a 50 25!"(a little stretch of the truth wont hurt). In reality, a 7 30 is great for lower levels.

Its been a long time since i have played on a carebear server...if you get twinked, you loose intrest in the game. Then you make a non-twink char and try to lvl, but when it comes down to it, you dont know how to level, you dont know where to hunt, all you know how to do is /shout "LVL 1 newbie looking to get powerlvled!"

So what? Not everybody bought Velious. The people who didn't, get the mob/loot almost a year after everyone else. Seems fair to me.
RE: Leave it to Verant
# Aug 30 2001 at 7:33 PM Rating: Excellent
I found out why VI hasn't made any prim/sec claws, and its a fairly logical explanation, but not an excuse, why there aren't any.

The graphic, when an item is held, is the same in both hands, so if a prim claw was put in the sec hand, the claw will be curving to the outside, instead of the inside. The same for a sec claw used in prim.

One way around this:
Make Prim and Sec versions of every claw that should be usable in both.

Looted 1 of these off a Mature Panda. It's also a quest item, quest is give in the Cat City.
