I had such a hard time finding this that I wonder if some of the listed droppers are wrong (or are from before the nerf). I killed, at minimum:

30 savage kobolds
20 lesser kobold shamen
15 greater kobold shamen
15 raging kobolds
10ish scouting kobolds
10ish hunting kobolds
<5 raging kobold savages

I finally got it off of a scouting kobold.

This item is used for the quest given by Curator Merri. However, does it have to be at full charge or can one use it up before turning it in? Anyone know?

I figure the effect on this was some sort of cleric buff, so I cast it on myself--resist...looking at the effect info it says that the target has a +25 point modifier to their normal MR--meaning that unless you are fighting a gimp mob or one that has been tashed/malo'ed it will probably be resisted, but its still sweet. I now have 3 items that have stun effects as a shaman ( this, bronzewood staff and that 6wis/40 mana spear ( cant remember name atm )), and will definately come in handy when trying to kill that mob that summons, gates, or CH's at low health. Assuming the best of luck with no resists and full 6 sec stun and full DD, this item could potentially turn a raid on that last mob , say for an epic, from a failure to a success.

EDIT: Just realized this isnt LORE--OMG--can you say "Farming kobolds to equip a raid party with like 100 of these for A_Soon_To_Be-Toast_Mob_XXX ?"

This item most definitely does not suck. It can be proced from an inventory slot, and has a fast cast time. So use it for that extra little advantage during a fight.

On my server (TZ) I use this to very good effect. Especially since they nerfed resistances.

EDIT: One of the ways I use this for example is on my rogue. I proc this then I run around the Mob/elf for a nice BS. Great for soloing or PvP.

If this works from inventory, does that mean that a Ranger or Druid could actually use it since it doesn't have to be "equipped"?

Would be nice for a druid to be able to stun a MoB for 6 seconds. Just enough time to get off that 5-second casting Gate spell when in trouble.
RE: Works from Inventory
# May 30 2002 at 7:01 AM Rating: Excellent
aye, it works from yer inventory if ye're a ranger. when i was a cub of lvl 18, i carried four of these in my inventory to use in duels--'twas great fun...for me at least, my opponents didn't seem to care for it.
Very Nice
# Feb 14 2002 at 6:16 AM Rating: Decent
This thing actually works from ur inventory, and it seems that its possible to chain stun things with this...dont know how hard it is for mobs to resist though cuz i only tried it out on a green gobbie. :=)

But if it works as well on mobs yellow or red would be great help for killing mobs a lil higher lvl then yourself.

they seem to drop off random kobolds in stonebrunt. i dont know about recharging any..
RE: are they still broken
# Feb 05 2002 at 12:28 AM Rating: Default
Left one in the bank for a VERY long time and no recharge. Not saying it can't because I didn't time it, but it seems as if it doesn't charge.
RE: are they still broken
# May 06 2002 at 2:44 AM Rating: Decent
Leaving it in the bank doesn't do anything. Usually, to recharge an item you do a quest. Of course, since these aren't lore and seem to only cost 7pp from a vendor, you could find an empty vendor, sell him a fully charged one, sell him an uncharged one, then buy both back (or heck, could even sell him 20 uncharged ones). When you buy them back, they come back fully charged.

You cannot sell things with no charges to a vendor and buy it back fully charged any more. If you sell with it having no charges, it will be the same when you buy it back.

I don't know I have 10 of them, and it says 5 charges, they drop from hunters, and Ravaging Kobolds so far... that I have found...

Cast time on the totem is 2.5 seconds, and like all right-click items, there is no recast delay.

This seems to me this would be an exelent item for a low to mid level necro. The posts I have seen say the effect on this totem is a 60 DD. The only test I did with one I looted with a 17 SK, it hit for 39, and stunned the kobold I was fighting. Free stun, can't complain. I looted 3 of these, and had no need for them so gave them away. Seem to drop of of random kobolds One came from a burley, a savage, and a greater shamen. A 30 something necro friend of mine was very happy to take one off my hands. None of the ones I saw were no drop, but that really means nothing. It only took me about two hours to loot 3, and my grp looted a total of about 6 or 7. Pretty common. If you think it looks good, make a trip. EXP is relatively good at my level, and you can never complain about a bit extra int or wis on your lowby casters.

RE: totem
# Oct 28 2002 at 2:34 AM Rating: Decent
hmm, my lvl 25 necro got one of these and it only hit for 25 hp. I got it off a burly kobold. Haven't seen it very often. I've killed lots of burlys and ravinous kobolds and only one drop.

charges??
# Sep 14 2001 at 12:24 PM Rating: Decent
Prior to the fix I looted 3 of these and since then I have looted another one. The original 3 don't have any charges but the new of course does. Do any of you know if I will be able to trade them in for "fixed" ones or should I simply forget about it? Or is that something that can only be fixed by patching?
RE: charges??
# Jan 09 2002 at 12:22 AM Rating: Decent
Not all Totems have the charges....some that I have looted dont have any charges at all and some have 5. Guess its the luck of the draw.

its because the dog used them before you got it :D
Fixed

This Item is now fixed. It gives 5 Charges of Holy Might.
Why Can't
# Sep 11 2001 at 3:07 AM Rating: Decent
I think druids should be able to use and i hear it's gonna be no drop :( Does that mean useless i have about 5
Still Nice
# Sep 10 2001 at 2:56 AM Rating: Decent
This is still a nice item that for the level it drops for. I picked one up off of an even con with my level 15 shaman.
Charges
# Sep 09 2001 at 10:17 AM Rating: Decent
The thing is too dang common, so my guess is that it will not have much in the way of charges once it is fixed.

Ok i have been hunting in stone brunt for 4 days now and i know the forlorn totems drop off of burly kobalts and greater kobalt shammens. they might drop off other spawns but i know off these two for sure, and yes they are common i have 5 of them. When i got my first totem i asked for a pc. i don't know why but two people told me 2kpp. this didn't sound right but when i had two offers for 1kpp worth of armor i couldn't refuse. Now i hear that they are worthless junk. I have talked to a gm and the effect is broke but will be fixed. My friend also told me that they now sell in G Fay for 150pp.
RE: read this
# Sep 05 2001 at 6:39 PM Rating: Decent
So far I've gotten 2 of them within 1 hour, 1 off of Rendolr the Maimer at the Camp along the river, and one off a Raging Kobold. It seems to be a random drop of kobolds...dunno, but that's what I know =)
