I was just wondering. I got 2 pieces of Rowyl's armor by doing Thurg quest...so...I was curious why this dopped in ToV instead. Anyone know?

Various armor sets from the velious era were named after original GMs/Devs. Rowyl and Akkirus are some examples. Vulak was *the* velious encoutner in a lot of ways, thus his loot table was named after "gods" to reflect it's power. The fact that druid thurg armor and cleric SS armor also bears these names is probably jsut coincidental or a reflection on running short of good names for gear.

Once upon a time these used to be druid only. Then VI changed it... That's why people mostly talk about druids wearing them :)

# Apr 11 2003 at 1:24 PM Rating: Default
Actually these have never been druid only. You can comfirm this by checking on lucy.fnord.net which contains the items entire history. The only change was to allow froglok's. Don't confuse this with the Thrugadin Druid quest armor. Those are vambraces and they are druid only.

Actually, you're wrong. These were druid only before Lucy existed, before Vulak became a ring event. You can confirm this with any druid who killed him at the time, or by asking the eq devs.

They were changed because, according to VI, too many were rotting... yet the clr/shm shield is still only clr/shm.

RE: Because
# Jan 24 2004 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
Too many were rotting, because druid is such a rare class after all. Right then.......

They changed it because these are very nice and the other classes wanted them I'd say. But yes they did used to be druid only, we killed him many times and saw a few pair of these. Not all the druids got them and none rotted.

I dont know why you all say these are Druid arms?, I belive the tag says Druid,Cleric,Shaman, and I for one would love to have these arms, It would be an awesome item for any of the listed classes and as a Shaman I hope to have them someday :)

Cleric/Druid/Shaman usuable now! Hehe, lucky I got mine when I did, Druid's would be last on this list.
RE: Cleric/Druid/Shaman
# Apr 03 2002 at 3:47 AM Rating: Default
druids would be by no means be last, this is the ultimate arm piece of druids, it doesn't get any better, even elysian is one step down

any guild which is able to obtain this item will have druids on the loot order for it
#Methis, Posted: Apr 09 2002 at 9:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually not a chance. Clerics will now be first in line to get this. Not that we'll ever see them again anyway since ring of damn vulak is the biggest ***** on the face of the earth.
RE: Cleric/Druid/Shaman
# Jan 17 2003 at 10:27 AM Rating: Decent
Loot order is ALWAYS

Cleric (for heals)
Shaman (For Slow and DoTs)
Druid (For just about everything, but 2nd rate)

I play a 52 druid

These loot rules are the reason you meet druids over 65 still wearing acrylia sleeves or nasthar vambraces.. While it would be nice for a druid to get a break, druids are not really designed for raids... They can help with resists, and some debuff on a mob, and back up heals, but whatever a druid can do, someone else can do better (clerics heal better, chanters AND bard have better resist buff, and chanters AND bards also have better resist debuff). These are just examples.

Nowadays what decides who gets loot is how it will help the group most. If I wanted these, I would have to catch about twenty raids on Veeshan. While I WOULD love for druids to get a break, it just won't happen until we (finally) get something that sets us apart from other classes.

Can't say it's wrong, but does kinda suck lol Verant should leave SOME high end stuff druid only, or 90% of the druids out there will be wearing the same things at 65 that they were at 45 (which is already happening). Can't blame peeps for Verant's (continuous) raping of druids, though 8)

Why do I even play a druid? While druids may be 2nd rate in every type of spell, we are the only class that has every type of spell. Whatever you need is, you got it in the bag if you're a druid... Not to mention the AA, and the protection buffs with mana regen which DOES stack with KEI (PoTC, PoTG, PoT9, etc...)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 17 2003 at 7:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Loot rule is ALWAYS? no wonder u say this kinda stuff, your level 52. ever heard of a point system? ;-) and u cant go above level 65 (unless u count AAs, some do), and u will not c a 65 druid in nathsar or acrylia, but mayb elysian =P

How bout a 63 in a Platinum Armband, dont assume a higher level will always have better gear. Truth is, even at 63 i have never been this high into ToV, workin on it atm, but not quite there. However...you are correct with the points. I almost never spend points on ANYTHING, its tough to beat that ely armor, which saves me tons of points. There will not be a loot order on an item of this caliber without a whole rack of p'd off Guildies, its gonna go to points instead i am sure, and you better believe my bid will be close to the highest.
Wis Cap has been Raised!!!
# Dec 17 2001 at 6:34 PM Rating: Decent
With the opening of "Shadows of Luclin" the Mana cap based on Wisdom/Inteligence has been raised to 250 or 255. So everyone has been running around looking for those items that they discarded to help balance out thier Int/Wis with the other stats. Resists, AC, and for we Wood-elves Str are important... But our calling is casting so all the Mana we can gather is key.

Again we can boast and brag about how high our Wis is again :)

Couldnt have said it better myself. Wisdom IS THE MOST important thing to a druid, PERIOD. That is, to a certain extent. Once you hit that wis cap you will be looking for all the +mana items you can get (trust me im there), but at the same time keeping your wisdom at that cap. The only real reason a druid needs to worry about hp's is when you are in places like ToV where mobs AoE a lot. You will sometimes be able to hide, but sometimes you will not. (since VI has started perma-rooting a lot of the mobs there) But, high hp's can be obtained through the right buffs. I am level 57 and easily can get my hp's over 3500. I know its not like a tank, but it comes in handy when mobs are casting unresistable 450dmg AoE spells every round and you cannot hide from it, or sometimes have to get in harms way to help out.

Just my 2cp's

Lol i hope you mean 3500 hps with cleric buffs, its impossible even with all the hp gear you could find to have a druids hps over 3500 with their own buffs and equipment, I've got 158 sta, a ton of hp gear and still only have 1500 hps unbuffed at level 55.

Impossible you say?

Unfortunately this isnt my current equipment and to be fair I dont think its very likely for one person even one who plays constantly to get everything on this profile. You can also add a couple of hundred hps for self buffs taking you up to 3750approx.

It's the resists.
# Oct 04 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Good
"I don't see why you druids even notice the AC =) my first thing i saw on these was the 75 mana than the 15wis..."

Because both are fairly meaningless.
Keep in mind what is needed to kill this dragon. By the time you're able to kill Vulak, if you can't cap your WIS, something is definately broken.

At this level, the only thing that really matters is resists. What I noticed when I looted these arms is the +15 vs all resists. Show me one other druid usable arms with better overall resists.

Right now, even in pure resist gear, my WIS is over 220. In my normal gear (which is AC/hp gear), my WIS is over 260 (which doesn't display since it's hard capped at 255).

AC - not a big factor unless I'm ******** around in a exp grind group somewhere. At near 1100AC self buffed, I can tank stuff fairly well (even blue stuff...admittedly relatively *LOW* blue stuff). Against even the roaming non-chain flurrying crap in ToV, my near 1100AC doesn't do diddly squat (unless they recently added /disc defensive to druids while I wasn't paying attention).

BTW, there's no BP corresponding to these arms. Vulak only drops Armguards for druid only armor. Be glad, since some classes don't get any class specific drops from Vulak.
RE: It's the resists.
# Mar 03 2002 at 12:32 AM Rating: Good
i noticed the 45 ac first, because I read from left to right :)
not all people play druids the same, I think that resists and ac are king. my wisdom doesnt meen diddly if I cant last long enough in melee range to cast on some mobs. gornair, serv, talendor kelorak dar, trak ect... you need to be in melee range to cast on them. having maxed out wisdom is nice for pick up grouping and exping, but in raids you need lots of resists, as many hit points as you can scrape together, and ac. this goes for all classes. the main assist tanks in high end raids all have max resist have 5k hit points or more and end up exceding the ac cap after buffing, why should it be any different for other classes. Clerics love ac, some more than wis. If you aren't taking hits on occation, you arent playing to your full potential.

I don't see why you druids even notice the AC =) my first thing i saw on these was the 75 mana than the 15wis, than i went to read the posts, after looking at the picture (btw -- sweet pic =P)
But noone is the same and im not flaming anyone except that guy who said druids suck on raids, actually many druids (even me) will most likely sacrafice their selves to pull an add away so 1 person dies instead of 40-60 or whatever
BTW - what server do you play on? bekuz if you play on morell-thule, dont ask me for a port or a sow because ill tell you to burn in hell =) have a nice day!

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 24 2001 at 9:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The bad thing is that there probably wasn't even one druid on this raid.
RE: Druids suck on raids.

not true, I have met quite a few druids who do very well healing and snareing and buffing on fear and hate raids. not that I have been to ToV but hey at least they play their role in the raids and dont try to be wizzies. A druid who knows what he is doing can be very useful on a raid. =)

Druids with AC!!!
# Aug 23 2001 at 11:51 PM Rating: Good
Hahahaha, this has more AC then a entire set of Elder Spiritist.

But no offense, Druids still are on the short end of the stick in terms of gear, and spells, they are so overpowered in the lowerlevels they are reduced to nothing in a raid sense, back up healer, fire resitance debuffer, fire and cold buffer...but oh well, that is what Vellious has done to the might casters, made them nothing more then buff/port puppets for the Warrior, Rogue, and Cleric.......

......or maybe I am just bitter....who knows.....
VERY nice ac

wow the ac on this thing is incredible. not to mention the stats, imagine how much this would go for if not NO DROP....

No offense, but Vulak'Aerr hasn't been killed on very many servers yet, and this item doesn't drop every time. I have a feeling that even if they were droppable, you'd never see 'em for sale.
RE: VERY nice ac

Either Vulak is dropping a buttload of items when he croaks (15 or so) or some guild has his *** camped on a more or less permanent basis. There's a lot of items being listed here as being off him. I was figuring he'd drop 4 or 5 items, and then wait a week or so to repop, ready for the next hardass guild to hack their way through to his livingroom and scarf their 4 or 5 neeto-keen itemry, repete'. It's sorta funny imagining a horde of uberguilders hanging out in ToV waiting on this guy to show his scaly face so they can bum-rush him. I guess they'd keep busy by making sure his cronies kept a good beat-down on. Fighting one dragon is fun.. two dragons is significantly less so. I remember when I was a boy, I'd solo Vox and Nagafen at the same time, this being before zones were invented, you see. I had to kite them through five feet of snow, up hill, both ways... (Grampa! Quit posting under my name!) Uh oh, better scoot, the whippersnapper caught me!

Here, pull my finger...
RE: VERY nice ac
# Aug 25 2001 at 5:04 PM Rating: Default
Vulak only drops four or so items when he drops. And you can count on one hand the number of guilds who can actually kill him, so I doubt he's really camped 24/7.

Vulak always drops 3 items, not 4. No variation on that. On our 12th kill I believe and never dropped anything but 3 items.

He's a once a week spawn, as are all the other dragons that are his pets. We haven't done a one-day ToV clearing yet, though it'll probably happen eventually. That's a lot of dragons to down. I'd say the average is 3 days (3 seperate raids, back to back) to clear ToV.

You see a lot of drops because it's been several months since he has first been killed, and a lot of guilds are now catching up.

What's really scary and enticing is if the armguards have 45 AC and these stats, think what the BP is going to be like..

Eek.

I am never going to see Vulak`Aerr, knowing this even as I approach 56th, but I can sure pray to the Gods that in the unlikely event I do, I am the only druid not to haven't gotten bored and left.
