#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 19 2002 at 12:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) FT1 ( 1 extra mana per tic) will not stack with another FT1 item, only with FT2, FT3 and so forth, same goes for the rest.

actually that's incorrect. That was the way flowing thought worked, however they changed it a few patches ago.

Before, (tecnically) you could have gotten one FT item of each level. IE: Ft1, 2, 3, 4, etc...

Aside from the near impossiblity of getting items with each of those, that would have enabled you to get 55 mana a tic if you had one of each.

In the recent patch, Verant capped the ammount of mana you could get from flowing thought to 15 mana per tic. However, to off set that they also changed it so that flowing thought items of the same level WILL stack with eachother. So two ft1 items = one ft2 item.

Mixed blessing. Means that you can now get by with using multiple low level ft items to get to the cap, but also means that as soon as you hit the cap, getting more FT won't give you any bonuses.

Flowing Thought is mana regen 1 FT per 1 mana a tick.... so FT1 is 1 mana a tick.. there are lots of FT items and it is posoble to get FT15 which is the current FT Cap, FT also stacks with all spells/songs etc etc. As far as FT Items there is a FT10 2H Staff "Staff of Al'Krabor" which is result of a GM Event Quest, it is an Artifact meaning 1 per server Staff of Al'Krabor = FT10

I can see how Pallys and SK's using 1handers would love this shield. Also all casters would like the resist and flowing thought.

I don't see Dual Wielders using shields much, but hey maybe it could happen!

Anyone can equip a shield on their back, if it has back slot on it, and is equippable by their race and class. My cleric has an aegis of Life on his back.
RE: Multipurpose
# Jul 31 2002 at 2:54 PM Rating: Good
Um, only if its equippable on the back, which this is not. Warrior can't just wear a shield on their back cuz they feel like it...seems like you're maybe referring to the lodizal shield, or shield of the arisen cultist, both of which are secondary/back items, which this is not.

i was lucky enuff to acquire the emerald bastardsword of purity off telk...this would be a VERY nice companion to it..the pair would blow away the paladin epic (cept for the nice proc)..pairing a 24/24 +40ac +25 sv disease 1hs with this would be pretty nice ;)
RE: want one of these
# Jan 15 2002 at 2:07 AM Rating: Decent
Our epic sucks, get over it :)

All NToV weapon drops would be favored over epic by 99% of the paladins I know.

Good luck!

Correct, NToV 1hs pally swords are a bit better (mostly) than the telk sword =)

Dawncaller and Frostwraith come to mind.

Dont get me wrong, the EBoP from telk is damn sweet!

Classes
# Sep 13 2001 at 2:02 AM Rating: Decent
While I hate the idea of any item being something a specific class should or should not get I'd say this shield is best for a pure or priest caster. Paladins/Shadowknights of the lvl to attain it will more than likely be wielding 2 handed weapons, and the rest of the tank classes would most likely be dual wielding. Personally due to the High AC i'd say it should go to the casters who draw aggro the most first ;)

Really if your a purecaster and you need AC at the level of play you get this (not just level) then your already dead because even the "yard trash" of TOV is going to rip you to shreds if you get agro AC isn't going to make a diffrence its gonna quickly quad you for all you hitpoints and if for some miracle your still alive the second round is gonna get you.

Tell me if I'm wrong because I could be!

Only if you just be rezed or did not get buffed. I have tanked over 20 seconds in bad pulls and lived and about 30 before dying as a 53 to 54 wizard
For those about to Use
# Aug 23 2001 at 12:45 PM Rating: Decent
hey all. Its funny to watch people profess who should and should not use this.. Indeed if we played a game where all peeps strive to be uber effective within there own class Id agree..
However I know as a Tanking shaman (i know shamans arent good tanks.. but damnit.. It's fun) and fun is the whole focus of the game.
Personaly Id use this shield.. until i had the urge to pull out a nasty whacking stick and accelerate myself ;-) muhahahahah but i digress. even a monk warrior or rogue could use this.. to enhance there ability to survive an OMG TRAIN!!! incident. (in the leaste) I know of several casters who would die to get ahold of it.. Not realy for the ac tho it's nice but for the int and mana bonuses as well as the AWSomE resistances.

Fun? you think this "game" is for fun? Your mad...hehe how refreshing. I could not agree more. How dare you tell me how to play my character, are you paying? NO, so STFU and leave me be. Strangely enough I am a highly respected Shaman, and am able to get a full group together in a zone I have been playing in a while just through reputation. Admitedly I have not played the high end game, but when I do I will play that game. Till then carry on tanking you sweet Shaman :)

Lol, must be something about us shammies then. I love to get in on melee as well. I figure, if i have to be standing to canni, may as well be hitting the mob a few times between casts, the extra 100 damage per Canni is sweet. And anytime I am lucky enough to get FM full health, I hop into the fight in a second.

The other great thing here on shammies, is that we are ranked highly as a solo class as well, and getting a chance to run in and beat a mob down along side your pet is great (normally do this while healing the pet who almost died....).

First off this is a freaking QUEST item, secondly WHO GIVES A ***** what class it is best for. Every situation is DIFFERENT..!

You would'nt give it to ANYONE because it is NO DROP. Secondly, it is great for ANY class that has a guild uber enough to help them with the quest...!
Flowing Thought...stackable?
# Aug 21 2001 at 4:34 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a little confused - would this item stack with say, the 7th Coldain Prayer Shawl (which also gives FT1)? Someone told me how mana regens stack but I've forgotten...
RE: Flowing Thought...stackable?
# Nov 30 2001 at 11:21 AM Rating: Default
Don't be ridiculous, 1 mana per tick would be pretty much completely valueless.

Flowing thought 1 gives 10 mana per tick, completely stackable with enchanter and druid spells, and bard songe. I don't have FT 2 but will test it when I get it and report back. I would speculate it is 20 per tick.

The nice thing about FT is that it works while you aren't medding, so you actually regen a little mana while runnng around. That's only 1000 mana in ten minutes but still, it is a timesaver.

It is also nice in long fights. Like fighting Vulak, in 16 minutes you are going to regen an extra 4 complete heals.

I can't see a duel-wield PC using this buckler. It is really sweet for hybrids since it lets them regen mana while fighting, and some casters might use it too.
RE: Flowing Thought...stackable?
# Aug 22 2001 at 3:58 PM Rating: Decent
i believe every flowing thought stack, but i am 100% sure that Flowing though 2 and clarity 2 stack, being a druid, wolf form is like a flowing thought, but not really "Flowing Thought 1" so i can have Flowing Thought 1,2,Clarity 2, and my wolf form (i am not sure if FT1 and 2 stack tho)
RE: Flowing Thought...stackable?
# Aug 21 2001 at 4:37 PM Rating: Default
I doubt that it will stack.
Much like haste items dont stack with other haste items...

I hope that I am wrong though..

Wow first i saw 45!!!! ac on this thing. Then the saves!!! then the wis int!!. Well one thing is for sure(don't flame) this is more a "caster" item then a war, rog, mnk item. Its nice and all but they all dual wield and don't need wis&int so badly. Im not saying they can let this rot if no caster wants it (doubt that) but still.
RE: HOLY kaeaeyref

I agree this is am excellent shield especially for casters over melees. However, this is also a pretty mean piece for hybrid classes. With it I think they could solo pretty darn well w/ snare/root/fear kiting w/ these stats, effect, a decent bow, and a haste item... AWESOME!! just my toughts

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 21 2001 at 8:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No offense taken, I see no reason to put this on a Rogue or Warrior, you can disagree but for two words: Dual Wield. This would be incredible for my SK on the other hand, or my new Beast Lord in a few months... (Uh oh, for about 2 months there will be nothing but Vah Shir running through Norrath)
Nice

This is nice, even though Flowing Thought 1 may but 1 mana per tick, it is still 1 mana mroe per tick. The stats are absolutely awesome for a sheild.

RE: Effect
# Aug 20 2001 at 11:59 PM Rating: Default
One mana per tick may not seem like much and it is fairly negligible while meditating but it doubles mana regeneration while standing or walking, a pretty impressive increase.

Flowing thought is a mana regen, but I don't remember the amount it regens.
