Honestly i think that this item should go to whom ever the guild that killed him wants it to go to so what differense does it make if people post stuff about who this should go to, it won't change peoples minds )

Let the person willing to spend the most DKP get the item. Pay for it what it is worth for you, if it is worth more to someone else, or they have more points because they raid more, or not got much recently, then they deserve it. You get out of aguild what you put in, in it's truest form.

No political BS of a NBG system.

This item can benefit anyone, that is why it is all/all. Everyone should have a chance at this item. It is true it would benefit hybrids the most, if you get statistical with it, but on raids like this, everyone that participates will want a piece, simple =)

Actually once you are in a guild that can take DtD this is an item that most will think about before "wanting" it thru what ever loot system is used. I have yet to see a pick up raid take NToV and take ouy DtD. Unless you are a loot ***** you do not go in on items that has a lot of stats that will not benifit you if some one else in the Guild can be better benifited by it.

Kom, well for one renaan does know his stuff ;p and the reason why you will see so many posts on items with low weight that are good for monks saying monk item is because THEY ARE monk items, they DO go to monks first.

Not like it matters, anybody who is distributing loot for an NToV capable guild doesn't come to allakhazams to find out how to hand out loot, they know what items go to who from the stats.

And I HIGHLY doubt anyone is gonna think badly of monks because of a few posts on boards, but if anyone was making them look bad, it would be you with your ****** flames.
RE: sigh
# Jun 20 2002 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
The only things that ARE monks are items that have monks listed as the only class. It is assinine to assume that every NToV capable guild distributes loot the same or everyone does it from a powerleveling viewpoint.

Bow to the casters
# Aug 17 2001 at 12:02 PM Rating: Decent
As a level 56 warrior, I would bow to int casters on this item. My AC (and that of any other tank high enough to kill this mob) is well over 1100. Yet many level 60 casters are still suffering with 600 or so AC. Clearly they (especially enchanters) need the protection more than a tank does.

I think Verant is just lazy... Obviously, no class needs both WIS and INT, especially since tradeskills only matter with whatever stat is highest, ( contrary to popular belief )... This only leads to items that drop for people with bonuses that EVERY Class is going to want...

I would like to see more Class specific armor, and perhaps some more Deity specific armor... it would make less quarreling over items, and more interesting items IMHO... like Shroud of Zek (Warriors only), or Cloak of the Tranquil (Prexus only)

Class/race/diety restricted armor can be incredibly frustrating. Ever been on a planes raid where stuff for one class dropped and there either there was no member of that class on the raid or else the class members already had the item? Meanwhile, there were no drops for another class that could actually loot some of the items?

The more no drop armor is restricted, the more it rots. And of course, if the mob always drops, for example, 2 items, one of the spots was just wasted.

Back when NPCs would still accept anything you gave them some of the uber guilds like to hand in NToV loot to Mort and Gage just to see people's reactions upon reading messages like: Mort says "Thanks for the Tolan's Longsword of the Glade, Soandso."

come on do you really have to ask a question like this ? who cares if they are lazy or not? so what if they make a good deal of items in ToV to be non class specific? There are still things that are class specific as well. they items that can be used by all classes, its a nice item , but not everyone is going to want it either , but it still leaves the option open of the item to be balanced amongst any user and not be super twinked all at the same time.Int casters can use it for the AC and the Int, Wis casters can use it for the AC and the Wis, tanks can use it for the AC and the Str/sta and hybrid tanks can use it for the AC int/wis/str whatever. The fact that they made the item so usable by any class does not make the lazy, just learning to be more FLEXABLE in there higher end items. You make the arguement that it should be more class/race/religion specific or whatever, but why ? do they not have plenty of that in other hunting areas in the game for you ? there are a VERY large amount of items in the game that are for certain classes/races that have terrible stats that they DO NOT need and other people that need them can just sit there and drool wishing they can use them. They start making open end items that is wearable by anyone and you have to complain ?

i am truely sorry you feel this way
RE: Wis and Int
# Aug 18 2001 at 5:43 PM Rating: Decent
you are forgeting, that some trade skills such as smithing use both wis and int to determine success rate ( Wis ) and rate of learning ( int ). Its nice not to have to carry a set of wis and int items for us of those who craft.

Actually that is a big misconception that is entirely untrue. There have been some information straight from the horses mouth on this (I don't have the link for it handy, but you can head to the actual everquest site, or I *think* even castersrealm, do some digging, you will find it). Just worry about INT or WIS, not both. Only the higher of those two stats matter. There are suppsed to be secondary stats that effect individual trade skills (STR for blacksmithing for example) but I will whole-heartedly admit I am not positive of the effects of those secondary stats.

The WIS/INT one-or-the-other makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Why would you penalize a WIS caster on his learning just because his/her class uses wisdom as a primary stat? Or why would you penalize an INT caster on his sucess rate for the same reasons? I have taken a few characters, both WIS and INT casters, to Grand Master (250) or master (101-249) in every skill, and I can tell you from my experience at least that only your HIGHEST, either INT or WIS, seems to effect your skill ups and sucess rate. If you don't believe me, dig around and you will eventually find the post from Sony/Verant that relates to this subject. (Sorry for the off-topic post)

I guess the thought is that at least its possible to walk away with an item after a long raid. Nothing worse than spending 6-8 hours on a raid only to have none of your class specific stuff drop. If it's all/all theoretically you should have a chance at it unless you've got some leader who thinks everything with ac should go to the tanks regardless of how many items they already looted that day.

I agree, but wouldn't it be nice to have 3 items drop, something with WIS, something with INT, somthing with Other stats... I mean, when they add an item with WIS and INT, it almost seems like they just didn't feel like coming up with 2 items... seriously... who needs WIS AND INT?

A better question to ask, is "Who -doesn't- need INT /and/ WIS?" I mean, why complain, when you're getting two things? Maybe they were lazy, probably not -- a cleric AND an enchanter could roll on this, have the chance. My thought is that if it's extra, don't complain.

Ok, i'm sick of all the people posting about "This item should go to ----" .. "No, moron, obviously this is a ---- item!" Thats lovely, really, but its up to the raid/guild leader who wins what items. So if your raid leader decides that monks aren't allowed to roll, no amount of posting here will change that. I'm also sick of all the people here posting "I hate when people argue about what item should go to who.. blah blah blah." For once it would be great to see some questions about the item, and maybe some answers too. Lets get some data up here like how often the item drops, strats to kill that mob, what to do and what not to do, etc. I'm not talking about this one item but all items in general. /rant off

As a cleric, I wouldn't want these given to me.

At this point, most clerics have the weight of the gods already, or even the quest shoulders from Sky. Less AC yes, but better overall stats and WotG has a sweet save vs magic. The quest spauldrons from sky have 12 wis if I remember correctly.

Keep in mind, this is ToV. There's alot of loot for everyone and there's no point taking a minor upgrade for yourself that might be a major upgrade for another class.

Lemme just remind some folks of a few little things. First, stat bonuses are nice for ALL classes. It would appear the the high AC and STR bonuses earmark this for a melee type. Further, considering that it takes magic shoulder pieces to make slam happen against resistant mob, I'd say a LARGE melee or caster... perhaps a shaman.

Bottom line here is if Verant wanted a set class to have exclusive claim to an item they would make them useable by that class alone...

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 15 2001 at 5:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok...if you'd bothered to check, you would have noticed that this is the highest (recorded) ac shoulder...so obviously, no one would have higher ac shoulders.

Hell, I wouldn't mind these for my cleric, sure they don't compare to the epolets, but 25 ac and 10 str is hard to pass up, and I'm to the point where I'm starting to trade wis gear for resist gear anyhow.

And of course my Sk would just scream for these.

RE: Nice

Actually, Clerics are HEALERS.. not normal Casters.. IE Mage, Necro, Chanter, Wiz. The major point here is healers need AC too.. Like when the Tank flubs up and breaks the wrong mez. I'm a 56th Shaman, I have 198 Wis without Form of the Great Bear. And my current shoulders are. Reinforced Dragonwing Mantle: AC 12, 35 HPs, 35 Mana. My point is, overhealing causes NASTY agros sometimes. Slows cause Nasty aggros nearly EVERY time. I'm currently considering dropping my Wis 10 points just so I can get better AC.
Also, I've heard it stated that there may be an AC Soft cap of 1100-1200, meaning you receive diminishing returns afterwards. My unbuffed AC is 910. Do you HONESTLY think that for 1 second I wouldn't be extatic with such nice shoulders? The problem is sir, you are being greedy. You don't want anyone to claim a right to thi lovely item when/if you EVER get a shot at it. You are trying to eliminate potential competition from an item that several classes would obviously benefit from. Who gets the most benefit??? I'd say most likely Hybrids. Al of it's stats are perfection for a hybrid. Really it's incosequential what any of us say on this board about WHO gets an item. In the end, the whining reduces us to children throwing a tantrum in a store. MAMA I WANT THAT *sob* BUY ME THAT! *cry*. Just think it over a bit. And 1 last thing. Do you think tanks REALLY need to worry about their Strength at these levels? I mean how often are they going to go without Focus, etc on these big raids.. ROFL

I have to agree on the Agro part of this. I was the healer in a 3 person cat group in IC Monday, we had 3 cats at one time. Now most of the time, when we had a multi-pull, when I would heal our main tank, ONE cat would agro onto me. Not a big problem, I can mele one cat and hold my own, only taking 1-2 bubs of hp loss until one of the three could taunt it off. Well to continue, I cast a GH on our tank, and ALL THREE cats decided to eat me for lunch! These were Blue to Yellow to me, but proceded to munch away. And no matter what, the tanks could not pull them off of me before ...LOADING PLEASE WAIT...

So, saying that Clerics, as a caster group, should not worry about AC is bunk. The more AC you have, the better you can fend off that multi-agro you just created when you heal your tanks.

I would definitely give clerics a shot at this because I like to live. Giving to a pure caster makes less sense since they can't get AC anywhere near a clerics so they will die when attacked anyways unless the tanks can taunt off them within a few seconds.
RE: Nice

From a Cleric standpoint...by the time a Cleric would be seeing these they had better be at or over the soft cap of 200 wis. And if you're not worried about maxing out wis, these would make a hellacious upgrade to Adamantite Epaulets...from a Cleric standpoint. There are other classes that would probably benefit more from them though...

RE: Suck
# Aug 15 2001 at 4:30 AM Rating: Default
ROFL... Dagarn does not have a PH, he's a weekly spawn wurm. The only shoulders better than these for melees are off Vulak, but casters/priests can get better ones off other dragons.

That's the problem with all these newbs arguing about how great the items are for class X. They don't see all the items and realize that there are items more suited for some classes than others.

For example, if you aren't a melee, you don't ask for these shoulders when there's another item that drops nearby which is AC 15, 10 sta/wis/int, 30 hp/mana, 8 sv all but is caster/priest only.

You have to have perspective, which comes from actually killing the dragons for yourself (or spending an awful lot of time tracking down the stats on it all).

An Obulus Death Shroud is a better shoulder item for a druid. Personally I would not roll on this item even if I was allowed.
