The real use for this item
# Apr 19 2003 at 3:27 PM Rating: Decent
THis is the door prize for getting here. I would assume that if you are here it is to have fun in SG or to get the belt. LOOK AT THE BELT!!!!! It can not drop every time and if nothing dropped you would be pissed.
Well...

Its not bad just in my opinion a little weak for that Lvl to attain it. Fellspine is Lvl 54 to 56. For this to be truly worthwhile I would like to see a couple of resists or a effect, nothing major but SOMETHING else. It could be as weak as Ultravision or see invis what ever. Im not knocking the item, I think its decent at Lvl 30 to 45 but a little weak for the Zone and the Lvl needed to get it.

IMO see invis is one of the best effects you can get on an item. Just me tho.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 14 2001 at 2:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Personally, I have found, as a rogue, this is one of the easiest items to get a hold of that has any dex on it with some AC. Also, I see the all all tag on it, ya know, I also feel a wizard working on his h2h can usae this, or an enchanter that has maxed out his int and wants to do some jewelcraft, can use this... so, this item is not limited to its uses. Now, why a wizard would want to max his h2h is beyond me, but I do it because I can. It is a skill to be perfected to the best of my ability.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 15 2001 at 2:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This item is decent for monks, but not great. I have better and have only been to SG once so far. (In other words, I got a better face item before I ever set foot in SG.) I considered wearing one of the many, many pariah masks that I allowed to rot on the ground, but having to take it off every time I went to buy or sell something would have gotten old quick. I think it gives minus 25 charisma.

First of all I normally cant stand when these people say this item is a "put your prefered class here" item because the "put your prefered stat here"if you want to know what class an item is best for, look for a class that can use all or most of the stats given on an item. in this case you have +ac, Dex, HP, and Wis. yes many classes can use this combination of stats but what classes would get the most out of all of them, WIS HYBRIDS, Rangers and Paladins are the ones that should be given this item if they are interested in it. Pure priests classes have items with more Wis/mana, tanks can get more AC/Dex/STR, the classes that will use all the stats here well are those that take damage, deal damage, and use mana from Wis stat.

This is an ok drop if it's common. I have to agree that as a cleric, we have better options available to us and are easier to get a hold of.
This item...

The stats on this item are definitely nice, but I think everyone is missing a big point...
Chances are (And I've seen ppl who have already posted this opinion) anyone who picked up this item would have better. Now, of course, it's all about how you play your equipment up in those levels (IE Wis casters trying to keep their wis around 200, possibly wiling to give up a couple points in wis on the face because they can make it up elsewhere, etc. and they want the other stats this item provides).
But, say a group or raid (Not sure if SG is the type of zone you gotta raid or not) gets one of these drop, and they all have better. What's gonna happen? They're gonna prolly roll to see who gets to take it to EC next time they go to the mainland. =P This sure looks like it'll wind up on a bunch of twinks, and prolly a lot of mid-level players when they save up the cash for it. Yeah, nice item, but prolly not worth it to anyone who's gonna be in SG.
So at this point, this item becomes good for whoever wants to pay for it, and beyond that it really doesn't matter. =P I know at this point I wouldn't take one for my cleric, who has a velium ruby veil at 32, which I could afford at that level, too. Anyway, that's just my humble opinion on the subject.

I saw someone below say this was a good cleric item.

It is decent. But as a cleric I know we can get much better with less risk.

Look into "sebilite scale mask"
ac8 4wis 10mana 10hp 2fire 2disease

It's from sebilis obviously. I think the commander in Disco 2. It's an easier camp then SG.

This is more of a druid item. And even more so the beastlord...
This is a great item for....

I am sick of flames and from people who misinterperet what other people say.

These guys are saying that MONKS would like this mask. as monks are finding it hard to get good items. not that monks are the only class who should wear it.

Also not every item is made for every class it is made for. Shields for instance might be a huge waste to high level druids but they have the OPTION to use them.. that is what makes this game good, the options.

please flame me if you feel it necessary.
The Point...
# Aug 14 2001 at 10:20 AM Rating: Default
In my opinion the item is a great item for Druids who have maxed WIS (mine is 218 if I wear all WIS stuff). The extra AC and HP is a nice addition. It is also pretty nice for Monks. Again, depends on the items you have since STR might be more important in this slot, but if you are low on DEX and high on STR in other more uncommon areas, this would be a great addition. And, since it is ALL ALL, it is pretty decent for Shamans to a certain level.

That being said:

You know, time after time I read people complaining about other people commenting on who the item is good for. When a new item comes out, not everyone 'knows' at first who the item would be good for. There are a lot of people who look to this site and others to either give their opinion to help other or for people to research items, etc. for a class that they are learning or thinking of playing. So, the opinions are not baseless and helpful. The trashing of the opinions is wasting space and the readers time having to filter through your garbage.

AND for the people who look at the weight and automatically say it is a Monk item, this is one of those items like the Foremans Tunic! Not the best Tunic out there for Druids or Monks, but equally as useful for both (Zero Wt, decent AC, has WIS and STR).
Cleric / Shaman item
# Aug 13 2001 at 10:12 PM Rating: Default
This is very comparable to an Arctic Wyvern Mask (player crafted) - AC 6, +5 WIS, +6 CHA. The arctics go for around 1 - 1.5k on Karana, and I suspect this mask would have similar value (to a shaman at least.)

Can't speak for other classes, but I know for me a combination of WIS, HP (e.g. mana), and AC is an excellent set of stats.

Oh, and monks would be better served looting a NO DROP Forsaken Pariah mask from Iksar Pariahs (common as dirt) in Lake of Ill Omen. AC 5, weighs just about nothing, and rots multiple times an hour.

Actually, considering this is from SG, Monks of that level are going to have a Sarnak Hide Mask or better. Pariah masks are really for lowbies.

This is a nice little Druid item too. You can get better wis on some masks (velium ruby veil) but if you have 200 wis anyway (its hard, but you will get there eventually) it would be nice to use this, you'll lose 3 wis for 4 ac and 25 hitpoints. A pretty fair trade if your wis is maxed.

I wouldnt use it as a monk though. Sarnak is better ac, and adds 5 str. 25 hitpoints isnt worth switching it in, espcially since there are classes its better suited for.

the stupid references for who it is good for. If it is usable by the class, it is probably good for them. Its like no one has anything intelligent to contribute other than why they need it for their friggin monk twink. (which EVERYONE seems to have now.)

I don't enjoy seeing people point out how something is OBVIOUSLY a monk item, or a druid item, or a whatever item, but I have to disagree partially with you on items being good for who-ever is listed as a class that can equip it. The simplest example would be Ivy Braided Cords, which I have gotten on my occasional runs into LFay to exact vengeance on any Underbrush that wanders across my Tracking bar. The classes listed are Enchanter, Bard, and Druid, but if your an enchie using a wis slot item... you've been caught in one to many AoE Mez spells. Some items just are much better for one listed class than another, although frankly I see a lot of posts saying how <Insert Newest Uber Item Here> is absolutely perfect for their class, when its perfectly good for the bunch, and they are simply being little greed monkeys.

Well, its late, and I'm tired, so just post all flames below... :P

I actually wouldn't think an enchanter with the ivy cords would mind... especially if they don't have a better item to put there. You have to remember that although this may not be the BEST item for your class, if what you have isn't better... use it!

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 13 2001 at 6:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think you're all focusing on the wis more than the other stuff. You're missing that it's AC 4, +5 Dex, +25 HP, and most importantly, no weight. That makes this kind of mask a decent Monk face item.

"That makes this kind of mask a decent Monk face item."

ARRRRGGGHHH....

These boards should have a filter that deletes posts that have anything CLOSE To this phrase in it =\

I DON'T CARE IF IT'S -50 WEIGHT AND 200 STR/STA/AGI/DEX AND 5000HP, IT'S DECENT FOR ANY FRIGGIN' BODY!

Ok, the rampage is over....
Please stop saying things like that 'monk item' phrase, it got old 6 months ago =P

Lol, you know its bad when a monk gets tired of all the other people saying "That makes this kind of mask a decent Monk face item."

If an item says "monk only" then its probably a good monk item. If an item says "all/all" then its good for everyone to use. Just because it weighs 0.0 doesnt mean its a monk only item, I know alot of warriors that would love to have low weight items, so they can carry more loot =)

Well thats all cya around

Heh, I think this makes a great monk mask just because of the title...swirling water makes me think of toilets...which makes me think of...ummm...which makes me think of all the happy twink monks out there who use that phrase =)

No sweat, just remember that it's all in your head...
Could be better.

AC is always nice, as is the 25 HP. Only reason I'd use it. Personally, you're better off getting a Mith Mask.
Hmmm

Wis +8 seems a tad beter No AC of course, look for a crafted velium veil 8)
5 Wis Face
# Aug 13 2001 at 5:29 PM Rating: Default
Velium Ruby Veil is 8 Str, 8 Wis... no AC or Dex or HP though. Not sure if I'd use this item as a Cleric.
RE: 5 Wis Face
# Aug 14 2001 at 4:31 AM Rating: Decent
I've maxed out my WIS, and am starting to look at swapping out items for resists/stats etc... This item is on the 'possible' list.
Hmmm
# Aug 13 2001 at 5:17 PM Rating: Decent
I'm no expert on WIS items, but +5 WIS in the face slot seems like a nice item. If its not insanely hard to get.
