I have solved the quandary. It seems you have to make a special clay by grinding the appropriate ingot with the appropriate sunshard, and work it with a small block of magic clay adding some water to make it workable.
To make an energeian you need the distilled essence of an element. I have shared the secret of making these essences with the freetide, and they took off with it running, even to the point they have sworn me with secrecy on it. Though it pains me, I will not write it down as I will
respect their wishes, so that they will continue to respect me.
The iron clay will make dull energeian and uses a vial of viscous mana along with the essence and the appropriate sketch. Iron being less conductive than the rest only works with the basic elements of ice,
fire, air and earth.
Copper clay makes murky energeian and uses a vial of cloudy mana instead of viscous mana. Copper will work with the basic elements and also growth and decay.
Finally silver will make foggy energeian using a
vial of clear mana. This foggy energeian can also be used with the same essences that work for murky energeian, as well as with disease and poison.
Once you have worked your energeian on the pottery wheel, you will need to fire it. Firing an
energeian is not as simple as some firing and you will find that it takes some skill, but at the same time you can learn to do it almost without failure if you have a high enough skill. Along with a firing sheet of a quality appropriate to the energeian, you will need another essence of the same
type you used in the making of the unfired energeian as a glaze that will lock in the power.
You may notice when you get the sketches that they make odd amounts of energeian. This is due to how well the clay shapes and the interior thickness needed for each. The iron clay,
though made with the least conductive material is the best at being shaped, while the copper resists shaping and some of the material is wasted resulting in the worst yield of energeian. The sketches will accommodate for these differences, and once you have fired them you will have the amount that works
best for each type of energeian.
