Received this email from SOE:

Me - 8/29/09:

" I have been killing both Druushk and Travenro the Skygazer in Veeshans Peak for several weeks now and have not seen the Blood Orchid Katana drop at all - or any of Druushk's other older items.

I did get a Orchid Bloom Katana to drop once off Travenro but not the Blood Orchid Katana.

Does the Blood Orchid Katana still drop at all in the game or has it been removed or moved to a different mob?"

GM Felthius response - 8/29/05:

"Hail Adventurer! GM Felthius here.

Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment In-game customer service regarding your loot drop inquiry. To the best of my knowledge, the Blood Orchid Katana does not drop off of Druushk but it does drop from Travenro the Skygazer. I hope you find this information helpful."

Recently got this. There was a few items with clicky sow out there that was self-only, but this one is still clickable for your target and you. Drops off Travenro the Skygazer *For me at least* at the entrance to VP as a rarespawn named off the PH'es at the beginning. Good luck on your hunt! Took me days heh.

man i need one of these as a warrior...never to use for fighting but to cast whenever i need it, would be so awesome
Better
# Mar 24 2004 at 1:09 AM Rating: Decent
Just because there is better stuff out there for this level, doesnt change the fact that it is a good weapon. So what if the stats arent all uber good. So what? Doesnt change the fact its a good weapon. 12/23 isnt that bad of a ratio either.

Class argument (sigh)
# Oct 13 2002 at 6:26 AM Rating: Decent
Most players at the level required to get this already have better. Thus its cast effect would probably be the defining element in who gets it. Bards have Selo's and Rangers have SoW. It probably would be awarded to the other classes in that case.
RE: Class argument (sigh)
# Jan 08 2003 at 11:21 PM Rating: Default
While the exact nature of how this item would be awarded varies infinitely (as guilds are allowed to define this themselves) I doubt anyone in this day and age would even want it for SoW. Yes, that WOULD be useful, but for the amount of effort it takes to get into VP, and how lousy the loot is, I'd say this weapon would be treated as a melee epic. It's cool to have, but its utility is most likely outweighed by the fact that it's a symbol of status.
RE: Class argument (sigh)
# Feb 18 2003 at 10:57 AM Rating: Good
It's utility is the ability to cast SoW. Hardly useless at any level for a melee.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 23 2003 at 4:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Acually Sow effect would be useless, by the time u can get here u would have run speed3 probably, and if u dont you can cast sow
RE: Class argument (sigh)
# Nov 14 2003 at 5:28 PM Rating: Default
thats ignorant... sow is way faster than run3... hell jboots are a little faster than run3... if i were a warr i wouldnt pass this up... i know warr's hate running through a zone and then all of a sudden get attacked then your sow wears off... lol... it sucks... plus... think of the money you'd save by not having to buy sow potions anymore... before you say somehting is useless... remeber there is always someone who would use it...
RE: Class argument (sigh)
# Oct 26 2003 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
Yep..run 3 is just like having Jboots (but I've witness where my Jboots is just slightly faster than run 3, running along side my wife's cleric w/ run 3). Run 3 is about 33% faster than regular running and sow at lv 50 is 55% faster, therefore, a sow effect is very usefull indeed.

Clicky SoW for warriors doesn't exactly grow on trees either. This is one of the main reasons I got VP key.

Can definitely say that I would never use this in melee though =)

Sow is faster than run 3. My cleric has run 3, and I'll still bum a sow when I'm going anywhere, particularly if its dangerous.
Great... an almost unachievable sow item for melee classes!!

The sad thing is, other than J Boots, this is one of the few items in EQ that character's other than druids can gain sow from. And this thing is damn near impossible to get.

I think it's time the gnomes started producing more sow imbued items because I'm getting sick of forking out 100pp a time for sow potions.

Seems a total waste of time producing sow items for classes that cast it as an afterthought when the rest of us are running our legs to stumps across WC and other wonderfully large and dull zones.

Count to ten... breathe and stay calm.

It isn't a complete waste to have sow on items for classes that cast it anyways. I like equipping a sow item so I have one extra spell slot open.

Does it look like Wakizashi of FS? or Greenmist?

Veeshan's Peak or Temple of Veeshan?

Up top it says ToV but it drops off of Druushk in Veeshan's Peak which is Kunark not Velious. Hmmmmm.......me thinks they need to update and revise some stuff on this site.

Great stats, any class rolling for it seems to deserve it, methinks it would be badass for rogue offhand.
Cool Weapon, Jealous Samurai
# Jan 08 2002 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
I really want to get this weapon. problem is i dont see how a person could possibly kill that thing without at least three level sixtys. Also it says that Druushk is level 65 to kill. is that POSSIBLE?
RE: Cool Weapon, Jealous Samurai
# Jan 31 2002 at 7:30 AM Rating: Excellent
At least 3? :)
VP is a high end zone (although now largely eclipsed by ToV) and you'd need to get a large guild raid together to hunt it. I very much doubt that a single group would last very long here. Raiders should probably be, at a minimum, 54, to reduce the aggro range (which is considerable anyway in VP) and should aim to have an unbuffed MR of 100.

This item is real, i dont own one personally there is not a perma effect on it.. its right click castable on you and your friends it drops in VP im positive unless there is a new one in tov too that im not aware of yet. No it doesnt work in doungens that would just promote training 8OP

no your right it drops in vp and only vp
It's right-click
# Oct 04 2001 at 4:03 PM Rating: Good
Ya goofs. You still can't sow indoors. And Veeshan's Peak (VP not ToV) is an outdoor zone. In fact jboots are useful for a Druushk fight since he dispels.

And yeah if curious you can right-click this to cast sow on yourself and others.
oh btw
# Oct 04 2001 at 4:24 PM Rating: Default
Two corrections to this item:

Druushk is found in Veeshan's Peak, not Temple of Veeshan

The weapon's effect is not permanent, it's Triggered. (Right-click)

And it's not fake.

This drops in TOV I don't think verant would have any qualms about making it SOW indoors!
i may be wrong.
# Sep 13 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Default
But this looks fake to me. Unless verant has some sort of programming to disable the sow effect indoors (which i doubt). Something tells me that this item doesnt exist.

Also, if a weapon has a proc that cast's SoW. Like the ranger Lupine Dagger, it also says that you cannon cast this spell indoors.

So they have programmed it to not work indoors if it was a proc.

"Unless verant has some sort of programming to disable the sow effect indoors (which i doubt)."

Doubt away.

right-click jboots: You cannot cast this spell indoors.
right-click tboots: You cannot cast this spell indoors.
right-click journeywalker boots: You cannot cast this spell indoors.
right-click sow potions: You cannot cast this spell indoors.
casting sow: You cannot cast this spell indoors.

and...*drumroll*

right-click blood orchid katana: You cannot cast this spell indoors.

Imagine!
HOLY SHIT
# Aug 18 2001 at 2:59 PM Rating: Default
You could be SoWed INDOORS, Perm effect! sweeet and that is a dementia of a ratio, AND there are insane stats!! I say overall this weapon is prolly one of the best 1 hand slash that comes of out Veeshan...

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 24 2001 at 5:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) VI will more then likely disalow the sow effect in certain area's.... but if they don't... well... /em blows his load all over the screen

This weapon rocks daul weilding low delay and perm. spirit of the wolf is just sweet no matter how you look at it.
RE: Rocking weapon to daul wield
# Aug 31 2001 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
A weapon with permanent Spirit of the Wolf. Well, I think I'll toss out my JBoots right now and just run around Norrath for fun.

I just hope VI hasn't gimped out on the graphics as there are so few really good looking katanas out there in the first place.
