Who care's what class you are, this is resist gear. I'd like to see it go to any caster class over others, but everyone can use +10 to all resists and +100 HP.
this is one of the many new drops that is amazing for any class, which makes it very difficult for raid leaders to distribute accordingly. I believe considering the mana it should not goto a warrior.
I would say this would go to Warrior, Shaman, or Necro first, possibly a monk, the 2 guilds on my server able to take out Vulak have givin this to thier necromancers first. I really dont believe anything all/all should be dedicated to a certain class but it is :( sorry.
Because the +mana is only a single aspect of the item. It is also 30 ac in the RING slot, +15 to ALL resists and an additional 100hps, again in a RING slot. To try to exclude straight warriors in order for yer toon to get the item seems a wee bit.. shall we say.. greedy?
It's about like saying INT should not use it just becuase it has +30 ac on it.
It is all classes, has stats that all classes can use, therefor any and all classes can use it and should be given a shot at it.
this is to all the people saying main tank or raid leader will loot to assign ownership well if they loot it is theirs END OF STORY NO DROP unless you found some way to give NO DROP items away then STFU :) have a nice day.......
Yeah, that's called ninja looting. Nobody with half a brain would do that because they would never get into a high level raid ever again in the life of that character. Everytime they shouted "Soandso LFG" there'd be 87 more that said "Don't group with Soandso! He's a ninja looter! He'll ***** over your group!"
Yes and no, Ninja looting is basically looting something off of a mob that is not yours to loot, whether the body ever hit the floor or not. It can occur even after the mob has been sitting there for a moment while rolls/DKP bids are being made.
The "art" of looting a corpse before it hits the ground is called being a greedy, platinum-sucking loot *****. =)
now i wouldnt go that far, as a druid(or any class that solos for a good portion of their characters life) sitting around killing single or quadding mobs gets a little boring, and one way to make the soloing interesting is playing stupid little games like seeing if you CAN loot a corpse before it hits the ground, then once youve mastered looting before the corpse hits the ground, see how many times you can do it in a row =)
This is the second highest resist ring in the game and the other one's lore.
It's also All/All
rather than play "what class deserves this item," a game I for one am sick to death of, why not just roll on the damn thing?
Casters over the int cap need resists and mana, this has both. But wait! with 30 ac the reists and the hp, tanks could use it! but WAIT WITH THE LOW WEIGHT IT MUST BE A MONK ITEM!
Just roll on it like rational human beings. That's what /random is in the game for. To keep us from eachother's throats.
Regardless of your class, this is one of the best rings in the game. For resists there is only one better finger item (currently), and it's lore.
Rather than speculate on what class deserves the item, just roll on it. Or decide who gets it beforehand. Just skip the school-yard bickering.
It may seem odd that I post it here where the ring is stated, but I want to tell you my thoughts about all the armor and jewelery Vulak'Aerr drops.
I am a Paladin (and a very young one) but I love to look at all the available items for my class. So I scrolled down to see the best items. And I only saw once an item with a better AC than the one Vulak'Aerr drops (At least for a Paladin). That is a Silver Bracelet of Speed (Wrist Slot Item).
Every item he drops has high resists, the highest AC for that equipment slot (excluding the silver bracelet), most of the times HP's, Mana, Wisdom, Intelligence and Strength. Often enough the items have all there is.
I don't dare to try to tell you who should loot this item or which class should roll for it. I think every class out there would love to have a piece of Vulak'Aerr's belongings and it would only be fair that one can not have two if not all others on the Raid/in the Guild have one. And it is great for every class, I do not think these are melee only or hybrid only or caster only items. Pray to your god and roll your dices.
This post had no useful information in it, I know :)
Sorry for boring you and good luck for getting a piece of Vulak'Aerr.
this by far a hybrid ring look all those resist whogets nuked morethe caster or the tanks/hybrid? also the hp great for a rnager who vernat made under powered the ac grwat anyone the mana that isthe onlythingthat points this the caster direction but no it should go to someoen who can use every one of those stats to the best a hybrid
Hey look! See that thing that says ALL/ALL? That means Verant designed it with every class in mind! See, if it were for just one class, it would have specifications as to which class that would be.
And, to get right down to it, when you're level 60 and part of a huge raiding party, one tiny item like this won't mean jack. It's just a status symbol that raises some resists and knocks your AC up.. You're still gonna get quad sliced for over 900 :P
This would be looted by the guilds "main tank". This is an increase of 20-24 item ac over what they would have before, which would be a stat increase of 30-36ac. Any guild would give this to nobody but their main tank.

This would be looted by whomever the raid leader decided would loot it. If he/she felt like giving to a druid/bard/SK, etc. they could. Please, items like this will be awarded by the raid leader, no matter what the people on Allakhazam message board say about who should or shouldn't get it. If you have something important to say about the item post it here. If you are just going to start another one of those extremely tired and boring conversation about who is always going to get what uber item, please go somewhere else. Its a waste of time, and i doubt very much that Vulak'Aerr raid leaders come to this site to decide who they are goign to give the drops too. taking that into consideration; posts saying what classes should get EXTREMELY high end items like this are a waste of space, because frankly, your opinion doesn't matter.

Posted:Aug 16 2001 at 12:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is truly a great item. Definitely not for monks. Monks can go suck a big one for this thing. Dont forget who is doing all the dmg here, rogue/wizard. Rogues do a hella alot more dmg than monks and wizards own all with Dragonbanes. Noone in their right minds would try to do this dragon, who you have to clear the entire north wing to pull without having at least 5 Dragonbaners (wizards). AT LEAST 5. We do a crapload of dmg, more than any other other class, we get put with a bard, have PoG, GoB, C2 and mana song and we outdo any of you melee class and you all know it. who is going to be protecting us while we do our heavy dmg? it wont be the monks, believe me. it will be the heavily pimped out warriors. monks have other nice items that they can wear, no not the 6ac, 65hp rings but how about ring of the sky or something? thats a really nice monk item.

Posted:Sep 09 2001 at 3:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hmm.. so a wizard with, about 3000 mana, can cast this spell 6 or 7 times before going oom
Im a wizard 60, I have about 3500mana and you REALLY underestimate the power of:
Protection of the Glade Manasong 32 Cantana of Replenishment Clarity 2 Barrier of Force Gift of Brillance and 2 necromancers feeding you as well as a few modulation rods.
Find me any melee that can do the dmg I do on vulak, specially once theyre slowed to 60% of their normal speed, yes it cancels haste, and Ill call that melee my God.
And how many times did you get hit? Mmmm hmm, dealing damage is one thing. Tanking is another. You deal the damage while the tank does his job. Pretty simple if you ask me. It takes all kinds to take on a large mob.
Btw, It is YOUR job to deal damage, it is the tanks job to take the damage. Don't flip out cause you finally figured out what your role is. The tanks knew all along.
Very true. Wizards deal spell dmg. and alot of it. Monk deal melee dmg. Ok, wizards to more dmg than monks, but then again, I don't see too many wizards being used for scouting mobs either. Sure, monks aren;'t the only class that can FD pull, but I sure love playing a monk.
Its only a game, and stop putting down other classes. Hmm......I don't see too many wizards giving the main tank a battle rez, cause the secondary tank is 3 levels lower and taking up too much mana from the clerics...
Aargh, what the hell man? I hate people like you that say "this is definitely not for <insertclasshere>" but I also hate people to say "this is a <insertclasshere> item it should be <insertclasshere> only!"
Okay, the other things I would like to say are: #1. Monks are no skimpy damage dealers! #2. Just because you say so doesn't mean it's true! and above all... #3. What are you fighting for? What IS THE POINT of saying how much Wizards kick *** and how much rogues out damage monks? What I'm trying to say is...YOU OPINION MEANS NOTHING AND YOUR POST WAS POINTLESS! Aarrgh.
This item is good for ANY CLASS, okay?
Just my 2 cents. I'm getting weary of people that 'decide' what people should get what items.
Wow, I do believe I just found the future upgrade to my Velium Fire Wedding Ring. As a Monk, I wear HP rings on each finger, a Djarn's Amethyst Ring on one, the VFWR on the other and this ring blows away the 6 AC +65 HP's and moreover, resists! Ya gotta love those... I'm not saying it's a Monk item, no Jewelry type item is just a "Monk item" but it's surely nice for us given that incredible AC and the 100 HP's don't hurt either.
In regards to "Wasting 100 mana on a Monk"... I can make far greater use of 100 HP's than a high level caster will likely make with 100 mana so it's a fairly even trade. Further more, Monks need mana too! For what? Search me, but I want my mana pool.
Ultimately, it's a sweet item for most anybody that can get their hands on it. I'll be packing my loaded dice if this 'en drops ;)
LOL, I guess I understand people fighting over the various "Proper" usage of a particular item, but this item, it seems, was intended simply to be an Uber resist item and AC bonus for ANY class, and the HP and MP are just cake, if you can use them. If you're in Veeshan's Peak, 100 HP doesn't mean jack to your survival... not the way those mobs hit, LOL. In other words, it seems to have been intended as an item that can't be obviously geared to any one class. Of course, nothing that comes out of Veeshan's Peak is intended to be useful as much as it is a status symbol that just so happens to make the incredibly uber a tad moreso. ^_^ Just my 2cp. ^_^
One HP is the difference between life and death. If you can get 5 items that have +100 HP on them, you have added 500 HP to your character, and in most fights, even in major battles, thats at least one round.
The other fact is that most high end battles are against dragons, and for most of those fights, you need multiple resists. Very few items in the game give you +10 to all resists and still give you good AC. This is one of those items.
Anyone that is lucky enough to be chosen to loot this item will be quite happy. And it is a good item for everyone.
every one should be drooling for this item 10 to every resist is useful by all classes and the 30 ac is more useful to mele classes however the 100 hp/mana is useful by all you cant say this is an item for hybrids its an item for everyone
Acctually 100hp is awsome for casters. As mentioned elsewhere, most highend battles involve dealing with Area Effect damages, which require both good resits and high Hp for casters to survive long enough to use most of their mana. However, being an all/all item whoever gets this (be they tank, hybrid, or caster) should be congratulated...then the monk should be shoved back into the pit to pull in another Beastie... ;P
Tyna (the headless mage) Angelica DoV on Quellious
Also concerning HP on casters, as far as necromancers are concerned, a higher HP cap is more available mana. It simply provides more room to work with between the health to mana conversion spells, and lifetaps.

Please, get your facts straight. Bard 1hs, 1hb, piercing, offense, and defense skills have the exact same cap as Paladins/Sks. We get dual weild, they get double attack.

Posted:Aug 08 2001 at 8:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) anyone have the stats of the druid armplates that drop off Vulak'Aerr, please post them. i really like to know what FoH is so scared to show, plus Furor doesnt seem to think druids are worth anything, and shouldent get any loot from ToV anyways.
I thought they had posted those or furor from reading there posts doesnt seem like he would care if they got nerfed doesnt seem to warm up to the druids(Killing warriors and monks are my favorite think with my druiid).
FoH doesn't want any more incidents like the one involving the (still very cool) item, Mrylokar's Dagger of Blood.
You can read the full stories and conspiracy theories under that particular piercing item, but the gist of the matter was a bunch of whiners, upon looking at the original posting of this item, all cried in harmony to get it nerfed. KNOWING full well that most of them would never get, never see, and had no intentions on getting the Dagger of Blood. Now this dagger, which drops off of god-like creatures, is just a souped-up version of a Tombcarver :p
Of course, if Furor hates druids like everyone says, there's little reason why FoH wouldn't release druid-specific ToV/Sleeper's items to the general public ... so the self-same whiners can attack these new loot pinatas with their nerf-bats. ^_^
=========================================== Khemosaabe "SPAM" Longbow (of Cazic Thule server) Lvl 51 Ranger and Slayer-of-Bunny-Wabbits "...She says I am the one / But, the CHAIR is not my son!"
ok ive read the many posts that FoH has made about the super dagger being nerfed but..... i still havnt seen one screen shot of a GM saying" well we got 100 emails from whining newbies who will never get this item today so we decided that these newbies deserve to have your item nerfed to make them feel better about this game so this is why we nerfed this item" infact ive read posts from verant that said they nerfed the item because "THEY" felt it would soon become too powerful in the game. if you realy believe that verant isnt going to know what items they have gotten off these mobs and isnt going to continue to nerf items when they feel like it you need to open your eyes.
At this point in time, the best loot in the game comes from ToV or something (maybe ToV isn't accurate for the best area for loot - don't know, don't care). Anyway, from every subsequent expansion new and insanely better items have been added. With items in the game as good as some of them are, how much better can we expect these items to get? As far as the dagger of blood getting nerfed, yeah that sucks - but only VI knows what kind of equipment will be available in the Luclin expansion. In order to maintain their customer base, VI is either going to need to set the level limit higher, or they're going to need to add better and better equipment. The question is, how much better is it going to get? It has to be good enough to get people to buy the expansion, but it can't be SO good that its not upgradeable. Think about it, they're not resetting the level limit in Luclin so they need to add some pretty killer equipment. But if they do raise the level limit, North Wing of ToV is going to become the new Sebilis ('level 67 Bard LFG!') My prediction? They will always need to add better equipment, but how soon before people start selling fungi tunics to merchants because everything else in the game is just too damn good? Sooner or later, they'll need to allow players to get to level 70 - either that, or whatever expansion comes after Luclin is going to be nearly pointless. Look forward to seeing level 70 at some point in 2002 - the oracle has spoken. I don't know this from first hand, but it just seems pretty damn obvious that VI is going to need to do something to maintain their customer base. Either that, or I look forward to twinking my new little beastmaster with a 100 AC, 25 to all stats, 20 vs everything, right-clickable instant CHeal effect BP in the post-Luclin expansion. How does this relate to the nerfed dagger of blood? I honestly don't think it was n00bs that got the dagger nerfed - I think it was the fact that for Luclin to top it, they would've had to come out with a 13/15 dagger (add stats/proc)- and they just weren't ready for someone to have that - not yet anyway.
Soon after luclin i hope they will make an everquest 2 or something in that line looking at questions to brad they ask him a few times if that is coming didnt say anythink but having so many expanions keep taking memory of the computer. I hope luclin is the last and they make a everquest 2 new world or the same i dont care.
We have every confidence that the item was nerfed due to newbie whining alone. If you knew the loot table of every mob in North ToV along with their respective difficulties, you would agree as well.
The only group of people currently stupid enough to be releasing Vulak loot is the gimp guild Defenders of Akanon, which used a design flaw to kill Vulak, and does not understand nor appreciate why Vulak loot has not been spoiled. They haven't killed most of the dragons in the north wing, and killing Vulak was due to a loophole in mob AI.

100 mana would make a great deal of difference for a bard in a soloing environment, for sure. The higher level charm song uses mana on a continual basis, and medding up is a slow and painful process because bards have a skill cap of 1 in meditate.
