I'm tired of reading in here about who thinks what item should go to what class. All casters say it has WIS or Mana it should go to a caster, all Melee thinks because it has 50ac it should go to them. I say let the dice decide who it should go to and STFU, because no one really cares what you think. I come to this site to see what is going to drop in a zone I'm getting ready to go into, and hopefully ready someone's post that might help me obtain the item in question. Instead all i read is ******** and whining about who should get the item. If you have nothing to contribute to the post to help someone, or clarify something about the item, do not leave a post.
I know I just kinda controdicted myself but it had to be said. PEACE

# Aug 17 2003 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
while all this "who should get it" is really a bit annoying, most experienced players can look at an item and tell right away what classes might be good for it. That does not mean that the other classes are NOT good for it. However, it is very safe to say that no warrior will get this item.. they will probably have a helm of rallos Zek with 100hp :)
oh and at this stage of the game, dice will most likely not decide anything.

Actually, part of me agrees with what he is saying. A lot of people are very greedy, and so they want EVERY item with a stat they want to go to their class.

every single item in potime, and most sol/pop loot for that matter has mana on it. does that mean that time guilds should have an MA in all velious gear? (with some nice pieces excluded of course, because they have mana and mana=caster!)

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 13 2001 at 11:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have been in many uber guild raids and i would think that the guild leader would give this to the main tank or if they have a another tank that does it some of the time you would give it to them. I know the hybrids are going to complain about this post. But who is going to cause the most aggro. The hybrids exept for the bards are not going to get much time getting beat on by the mob so they give it to the main tank thats always a warrior.
RE: Goes to the warior.
# Mar 23 2002 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah give stuff to your main tank withotu using your brain ... im not surprised if u tell me you are a warrior ... you need to look what this item going to upgrade first ... if your main tank have a helm ac 45 (thats an example i dont think any ac 45 helm exist) and you give him that its a waste ..
Also .. you need to think about if the one who will loot have acces to something better .. like helm of rallos Zek (from avatar of war) AC 55 with full stat...

My guild just got 2 crown from Tormax this week .. the first one went to a pally and the second one to a ranger(me) ... warrior will have acces to better .. thats why ...

So stop to think because something is high AC it should go to the warrior ... all people in guild need upgrade .. and if you give the ac 50 helm to the Main tank of guild and week after u get the helm from avatar of war ... you made a bad move.
Chain class have rarelly acces to high ac item .. because they are always plate class or warrior only .. so you need to put that in balance when u make a choice on who need it more...

It could as likely go to a pally/sk (more likely sk tho) as they are often secondary tank. SKs are viewed as the best secondary tanks in the game because of rapid aggro building and ac similar to that of warriors. Pallys can do the same, though SK can out aggro them. Not 100% sure but I believe Reconstructed has an Ogre SK secondary tank... If something happens to the main-tank or the mob gets drawn off the MT and starts ping-ponging, the ST is the only thing that stands between the casters and total wipeout. I am usually ST myself (though I have MTed before, I prefer to leave that job to warriors on raids; defensive is spectacular) so I'm no stranger to taking a beating.

I am tired of Warriors, Paladins, Rangers, Monks, Shadowknights, and yes Bards fighting about who should get this UBER loot. This particular item is better for some classes than others. So just stop trying to convince people otherwise, and let them use they're own judgment. Ohh my God my common sense is tingling. It is obvious let them figure it out.

I agree to this, I believe a bard should have some nice AC/HP because of the aggro they have during battle, I learned about the aggro a hard way but for ur assurance I know a bard that has 1500 AC and nearly 4.5k HP so be happy for him :)

It would be an outstanding helm for any of the classes listed, and as nice as it would be for hybrids, this item would go directly to a warrior in almost every scenario because of the AC bonus. The other stats are gravy - but as soon as your guild leader sees the AC on this helm, he'll call the main tank in your guild to loot.
And if it doesn't go to a warrior, its going to a cleric.
If you really want this item though, your best bet is to do everything you can to get hit and killed and tossed around like a rag doll to prove to the raid leader that you're worthy of it.

The other stats are gravy ONLY to a tank.

This helm would be just as good on a shaman, who can die every pull because of low AC(far more than a cleric does) -- especially right where this helm drops. If yet one more uber warrior is worth more than a slowed mob, you're in a raid that doesn't need a slow at all. They exist, but if you want the shaman along on raids where an unslowed mob is death, don't just automatically give everything with high AC to your main tanks, or you'll find yourself dead and on yet another fun corpse recovery session.
Goals
# Aug 09 2001 at 1:19 PM Rating: Good
The ability to set your own goals, and get pleasure from attaining them, is what truly sets EQ apart from other games. There's no such thing as "winning EQ", it's all about making your character better in the way you want to. I have never been, nor will I ever be, a power gamer. But I get just as much enjoyment from logging on and improving my tailoring by a few points, or finishing a quest, as the top end players get from scoring some uber loot. Play the game, enjoy completing the goals you set for yourself, and don't be jealous of what other people have (well, maybe just a bit; we can all dream, right)

As a casual gamer with a birthdate of 16 Mar 1999, and only level 48 to show for it (takes a lot of time to actually DO something in ths dang game) I am dissapointed at Verant's static loot code. Wouldn't it be nice to have the opportunity to have ANY level 45 MOB drop a FBSS? Some loot can be restricted to a zone or two, but still, eliminate camping of a particular spawn, and give casual players at least the opportunity to get some nice items without having to committ 8 hours a day to a game. (I have a job, family, other hobbies, etc.)

i suppose you think in real life everybody should have a chance to get a porsche even if they dont work 8 hours a day for it ?

basicly you want to get something without working for it. if you live in a 8 bed room house you probaly worked for it. if someone is walking around in 1000 ac +1000 to all stat gear chances are they worked for it.

you have to work for everything, weather it be in game or in life. you are a lazy bum who wants somehting for nothing.

guess what, you have a chance at getting things better than a fbss with much less effort. its called a GM EVENT. most of these are freebies at loot. i got a 2 ac +10 int +20 mana ear ring at level 36. what did i have to do for it ? stand around and take part in a roleplaying gm event for an hour or so.

that ear ring is better than loot off many dragons. i got it for basicly nothing. so you do have a small chance of getting uber loot.

There are many of us who have a Real life that is important to them that prohibits extensive hours of dedicated play. My Primary was born on Jan 00 and just got 41. I used to get really upset after seeing all the "uber loot" on this site and know that i would never even have a chance at getting my epics. I would quit the game, but it IS a really fun game to play. The "uber" loot mongers and levl 60 campers are frustrating. There are ways around them. some honorable and some not so honorable. I do not think that there is a way for VI to prohibit this either. The greed of man enompases virtual worlds as well as real life.
What has kept me playing, was a really great guild. I joined it knowing only 2 RL friends. Now i have 2 RL friends and 2 dozen "virtual" friends that i know i can count and depend on. We have no epics even though a good half of the guild has been playing since the beta and banded armor was the best you could get.
Questing, Trade skills, guild raids and honest fun have made us close. We are small but we have fun without the uber loot. One day we will camp one of these uber zones, but it is not our priority.
The game has become really playable even if it is only once a week for me.

# Aug 09 2001 at 9:02 AM Rating: Decent
By what you're saying, anyone with more time than you is a loot hungry, selfish pig. Don't be so bitter. Power gamers play the game with particular goals in mind, casual gamers have their own goals as well.

Why worry about "getting" this item if you only play 4 hours per week? If you have that little time, gear doesn't matter does it?

Don't worry about the 90% customer base that you obviously despise. Play the game for yourself. Not them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 10 2001 at 11:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Heh, "power gamer"=porta potty player(for those who do not know what this is...this would happen to be the type of player that has no real life, for you who are so drawn in "RL", those who would rather get that next level than bathe or even sleep, let alone work...) I would rather not be classified under that category and I am anything but jealous or bitter. In fact I kind of feel sorry for those people. Yeah many of you are much better at playing EQ than me. Good for you!!! Where does that get you ahead in "RL"? I'd rather have skills that mean something, so you can keep your "uber loot", I'm perfectly happy with my decent job and wonderful girlfriend and playing maybe a couple hours a night if that. Just a rant on your angry post Aphallohadas...for you are the one who seems bitter.
RE: Bitter?
# Sep 28 2001 at 5:31 PM Rating: Default
Wheew... you sure can get the blood pumpin ;) Anyway, Im just going to put in my opinion on the subject matter of "getting a life". It is something all of us have, and what your really saying by get a life or any spawning off of that notion, is actually saying, "Get my life". Not all of us want your life and you may not want our life. The internet has really brought the contradicting free wills of each individual person very close and thats not always a good thing. We need to get over the limited views of "get a life" comments. The quicker you realize that life isnt fair, and it wont always play by the rules you set up in your own mind, the quicker youll be at ease and the easier life will become. I agree with the comment about power gamers should get the items. They spend a lot of there time playing the game to get ahead and earn these items. If they choose to put in so many hours, and it makes them happy, then all the power to them. In the real world, we have to deal with death, work, and trying to impress people you dont really want to impress but its all just a part of life to get ahead. Better known as *** kissing ;). Some people like to simplify there lives and contrary to POPULAR belief, real life popularity isnt something all of us want or need to survive. I myself would rather play everquest than sleep, because sleeping is a waste of time in my mind. Laying there doing absolutly nothing, only thing is our bodies need this to be able to be active again the next day. All in all, dont just play this game for yourself and your own personal satisfaction, but live your life to your own personal satisfaction. For all those that dont think that sitting infront of a game is real life... I am still real while i write this message. When we log onto our computers its not like our real life ceases to exist. The world actually expands inside a virtual space, becuase you arent held back to what society holds you down to. Everquest is more than a game too, I hear so many people complaining about me playing a game... but its more than a game, if the game was what i was concerned about, id have gotten bored of it real fast, its the people on the game the intrigue me, and make the game all the more fun. Sitting back mindlessly watching a sitcom, or diving into a interactive game while talking to others. I choose EQ. All of those popular people with AIM... well EQ isnt a dorks game, its actually like an advanced version of AIM. You can not only talk to RL friends but you can do stuff too. Sitting around in a room eating chips and watching a movie is just as social as sitting in your room playing with 40 other characters on EQ becuase theres 40 other humans behind the digital image. Well Im done ranting for the day. :) didnt want to go off for so long but i just couldnt contain it any longer. I wont post my name either to prove the point that it doesnt matter. I dont excpect anyone to agree fully with my opinion, but thats life.
RE: Bitter?
# Aug 14 2001 at 9:57 AM Rating: Decent
Actually Sam, perhaps you should work on your ability to comprehend. Read my post again and take the chip off your shoulder. There was no vehemence in it, much like there's none in this post.

Power Gamers are those that put the effort in to break down the game dynamics to their advantage. They're the ones who figure out these quests you see and items you argue over. Powergamers are the ones in ToV, giving you something to complain about. The ones in PoM showing us the "crazy" armor.

Contrary to your myopic belief, many of us work fulltime or are in the military. So I'm not sure where you get the "porta potty" thing from, unless it's personal experience. But your concern for our "real life" welfare is touching, but horribly misplaced.

As for "playing EQ better", that's interesting. How DOES one play the game better? Obviously, you missed the central point of my prior post, in that if you're NOT a powergamer, why should gear like the article in question be such a pivotal piece? If you're not a powergamer, it shouldn't even be a concern. Play the game for yourself and only for yourself.

I'm almost sorry that you're such a prejudiced person Samhaine, that you reacted in such a juvenile manner without comprehending what I was saying.
Allakhazam Item updates
# Aug 08 2001 at 6:55 PM Rating: Good
I guess anything common to rare has been listed on this site long ago. I've gotta say though, it's discouraging to see so many "new" items that are so uber and beyond my ever obtaining. 99% of them are no drop so I can't buy them, and I suspect getting them as loot requires a few well-organized groups putting in long stretches of hours I don't have the luxury of providing. Even then I'd still have to win the rolls on them! I know the people who only play eq all day deserve such sweet fruits for their commitments but what about us casual eq players. Is there stuff in-game that we can BUY in our upper 50's? My druid is 51 now and I fear I won't be able to play it much anymore if the end game is dependent on those kinds of items and loooong running raids, etc. Please flame me at will, because, after all, I con green to you.

RE: Allakhazam Item updates
# Aug 09 2001 at 9:36 AM Rating: Default
i can definitely see where you are coming from, but i don't think verant has any intention of designing new items on par with the best in the game that are tradeable.

i already see players on my server selling thurgadin armour =p i know someone who bought his mage epic.

i've been on dragon necropolis raids (one zone where there is very good loot that is tradeable) that were spoiled, for me, because the hosting guild was too busy squabbling over 'need before greed' - not really for need, but to eliminate the competition on rolls. one 'needy' player started auctioning an hour after the raid ended =p (and all the tanks, except one warrior, had epics)

i don't think that can be fixed easily... so i suggest reevaluating how you look at progress in the game =) tradeskills, quests (the new coldain ones are great, they take a lot of time to do, but you can play just in short spurts and make progress, and the end result is really very good), rewarding true newbies (rare anymore =(), player events.. lots to do, easy to forget those activities exist if you get caught up in the baubles displayed on this site.

That's exactly why FoH no longer spoils items that drop from Vulak'Aerr. Casual gamers will never see these items, and simply don't approve of items existing that they don't have the time or inclination to get. Instead of appreciating that end-game rewards exist (this is the best helm in the game), they scream to high heaven for nerfs.

Hehe, want something to do till 60, but don't have the time for major raids? Do like I do and go terrorize anything and everything that has ever attacked you, killed you, or even looked at you the wrong way. Or, go make a few newbies here and there very happy. I mean the true newbies, not the ones who stand there and beg all day or are uber twinked. Or, create your own quests and run them. Have lower lvls gain certain animals or do certain things and reward them with some money, armor, or whatever you think they deserve.

There are plenty of things to do in the post 50 game that dont need this kind of loot. Its nice to think about but you know that less than .1 of 1% is ever gonna get there to even see it...so, dont worry about it...) The Planes still drop good stuff, KC and Sebilis are good, lots of places in Velious to adventure. If you cant find something to do in game till lvl 60, then you're just bored with EQ.

Thisis a VERY nice helm, the stats are great and the AC is incredible. The INT and WIS help out the meelers on trade skills and it still can ne worn in battle. The saves are great as always and 70 HP and Mana is very nice too. The STR helps in trade skills also making this an excellent helm for all the listed classes. Nice job Verant.
