Str vs. Encumberment
# Aug 01 2001 at 6:36 PM Rating: Default
being encumbered has nothing to do with your attack rating, it only affects your ac/agility. Str raises I think 1 attack point every like 2.5 str points or something i think it was.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 02 2001 at 7:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) In fact your encumberance rating does lower your atk and causes you to miss more. Furthermore being fatgued also does this which is a depleation of your stamina. When your stamina becomes depleated you become encumbered also. I don't know why you haven't realized this, maybe you should parce yourself while encumbered or fatigued. Do this: turn on atk; jump till your stamina is out; then duel someone and parce yourself. Now duel at full stamina. Now do the same thing with half the str or just below encumberance.

You have no penalty if your stamina is above 100. No agi/dex drop, no ac drop, no attack drop.
Now, if your yellow bar runs out AND your stamina is below 100, yes you do have major stats penalty.

Anyway, by the time you can hope killing this kind of mob, your stamina should be close to 200.. (for a warrior that is). My sta is 75 naked (fear being a dark elf warrior) and 159 gear on and unbuffed.

If you are overweight, you loose agi and since agi modify the avoidance part of AC, you loose AC. But afaik you don't loose anything in fatigue bar.

Why would you bother logging combat text, and running a log file parser? You can just open your inventory and look at your stats. If your fatigue bar has run out (fighting underwater, weilding heavy weapons, etc) and your stamina statistic is low, you will lose agi and dex. If you are encumbered, you will lose agi. And just fyi, adding more wt doesn't necessarily make you encumbered, unless it puts you over your max carrying weight. The more wt you have, the more damage you take from falling, but unless you go over your max weight you won't notice the difference unless you try jumping off a cliff. =P

1 str = about 1 attack... caus i know a TBB which has 15 str gives 14 attack. at lower lvls it does have the same ratio that is what it is for me and i'm a 47 warrior
Weight
# Aug 01 2001 at 2:33 PM Rating: Default
Understanding that the STR bonus this gives would offset it's weight encumbrance-wise, I still cannot help but notice that 10.0 is a bit extreme. I don't play a tank so maybe someone can enlighten me as to how the STR encumbrance versus STR-based attack bonus plays out?

61 War here, got this mask tonight. Weight is a push with the str, and I am usually running unbuffed about 124/186, now that is 130/196, plenty of room :)

well, int plays an important role for trade skills and how fast you learn your skills.
Gnome warriors would have already maxed out their skills while Ogres or Trolls are still trying to grasp the idea of the skill. You have became better at 1 handed slashing
(50) while the gnome warrior has (101) and for wisdom, I'll have to agree with you on that one. Why do tanks need wisdom for?
RE: re: Humor Me

Intelligence effects how fast you learn a trade skill while wisdom effects how often you suceed or fail at making an item through the skill. That is stated in the everquest faq book which i own.

# Aug 02 2001 at 1:44 PM Rating: Default
That FAQ book is wrong in a number of places, and this is one of them.

According to Verant's Tradeskill guy (the one most recently responsible for coding tradeskill changes) the only factors on the chance of success in a Tradeskill are the difficulty of the item and your level in the necessary skill.

Stats are used purely for determining the chance of increasing the skill. Primarily, they check the higher of intelligence or wisdom. For some skills, there is an alternate secondary stat that adds to the chance of increaseing the skill.

They discuss this extensively on www.eqtraders.com

Well if the warrior's wis is higher than his int (which it will probably be for everyone but gnomes and dark elves) then that stats is what determines how easily you skill up. Verant might as well have made one stat called mind but that wouldn't have looked good to the D&D crazed masses.
Of which I am one (centaur bard - kickass!)
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 01 2001 at 1:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What were they thinking putting Wis and Int on a warrior item. We dont' need smart tanks. If they get thier Int up higher they soon are going to realize that casters are just using them to stay alive, and that thier death toll has been really adding up. AHHHh what is EQ coming to.

By the time they can get these, why would you need trade skills? What are you going to make for yourself better than your other armor. And if you want it for money making, you are quite mistaken considering that a warrior with that could venture down to lguk or solb, get a druid or cleric friend and own the lord or king room for some quick cash (I would atleast). Also, if they are making something for their newbies, I'm sure they could buy it instead of spending time on the tradeskills. And everyone out their saying that there is alot of pride being master, there isnt.

"And everyone out their saying that there is alot of pride being master, there isnt."

Just my opinion, but I disagree with this statement. I take great pride in being a master at the tradeskills I practice. Not everyone has the patience, dedication or drive to spend the time and PP it takes to earn this title.

It is true that I can make more money in 4 hours hunting hill giants in Rathe Mountains than I can by smithing or tailoring or fletching, but my options are more diverse because of the time and effort expended in tradeskills.

Depsite what some believe, I am of the opinion that tradeskills are worthwhile endeavors, and being a "master" is worthy of a degree of respect.

One heavy mask...

But for a warrior face item, it's downright decent.

"decent"? This thing is great :)
RE: One heavy mask...

Aye, a nice item indeed...the saves are kinda low, I could see someone swapping it out on raids for better resist gear(though I would guess that a warrior would have their str maxed already by the time they could kill Lendiniara), still nice to have for the 15ac and 45hps...its gotta be one of the higher ac masks for warriors. Not everything can be uber, but this is still pretty nice and something I wouldn't mind having for my warrior! LOL!!
