Screw clerics
# Nov 17 2002 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
OMG get off your high horse. No, clerics can't evac out or sow, but that doesn't mean we don't need the protection either. I am sick of people saying It's better for soandso class. If it upgrades you, it's good for you. And in some situations, druids can replace clerics. So just shutup and deal with it. I think what you're experiencing is class jealousy.

Gee...do you think that's what it is ;). I am a 60 druid and I wouldn't give up my clerics for anything...you guys are sooooo much better on the healing than we are...just common sense.
As for people yammering about one class is better than another...those people really need to shaddap! cause it's getting old.

EXP grouping equals "I hope cool stuff I can use drops while im getting exp" Its hard enough to win rolls on cool items as it is, without handing it over to some other class becouse "they need it more" pfffft Druid epic wep is only truely cool item I have and this mask would be second best if i won in a roll. If i ever see it.. My dice will fly.

Of course clerics need mad ac. Its not like they can sow, or evac a group. No, they have to sit there and take the sauce in the face until the tanks can retake the aggro the cleric built from healing. As for you flamers that are gonna sit here and post about how a "good" cleric knows when to heal and when to cast CelHeal or Rem, it doesnt work that way. Clerics find themselves having to comheal at the worst times quite often. Can't blame them, its not like they're pulling, no you sissyboy treehuggers need to step off and let the real healers get what they need most. PROTECTION.

Items gained through raiding places such as NToV are NOT handed out according to their usefulness in exp groups..
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 04 2001 at 1:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Cleric's should get first dibs (out of the 3, they need the AC the most), then Shamans... Druid's bring up the rear of course. But...WOW! That's a nice face slot item. AC/HP/MANA/WIS & Saves? Dang... Sure beats the Velium Ruby Veil I have on now. =\

If the cleric claims to need this more than any other class that is listed, i'll make sure to hold off on that slow so that cleric can utilize the AC on this item.

a friend of mine tells me this all the time and he has a 57 cleric, if a cleric needs ac that bad then you are already dead.

Well, first let me say that I'm not one of those advocating clerics ahead of others for this item. If you are eligible by your guild's rules to bid/roll/merit this item. By all means go for it.

However, I have to comment on:

Quote:
if a cleric needs ac that bad then you are already dead.

I have to disagree here. My cleric has decent AC (about 1280 buffed), and I find it to be very helpful at times. Grinding BoT last night, we got a couple adds from somebody's train. The bard mezzed the first, but the second started POUNDING the bard to shreds.

I tossed my fast 3k heal, taking the bard back from 21% life, to full, and the mob whipped around and started pounding me. Only 1 of the 8 hits he got in before the bard mezzed him, was for full damage. IF I had not healed, we would have lost the bard, and most likely had to zone or wipe. IF I had healed, and had lower ac, I probably would have died, and they would have had to zone, or wipe. As it was, I knew the bard was working on a mezz, so I could sit there and take a few hits, until he got it controlled.

True, in a raid situation, this would not be the case, as 1280ac isn't likely to mitigate damage from a raid mob, but grinding is what we do between raids, so we'll have better skills for that next raid.

Also, I have druid (55) and Shaman (35) alts, and I can see the use of this item to each of those classes. However, of the three, the druid honestly SHOULD be the least likely to get hit, unless they are playing main healer for an exp group (something I really don't like doing with my druid).

The shaman and cleric BOTH are most likely going to get summoned, and pounded on at some point during the fight. The druid, on the other hand, has the option of holding back until aggro is more solidly anchored on the MT before dotting and nuking.

Its called "Mask of Terror" and its cant be used by a Necro? That just dosent seem right... Verant needs to think a bit before naming something. Us Necros dont have any cool items =(
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 03 2001 at 9:56 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, you can get robes, arms and weapons that have 0.0 weight but this has 3.5? Bah, VI and there a$$-backwards logic. Makes me think back to a spider fur cloak weights 0.0 but the SF collar weights 3? Stupid VI logic.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 02 2001 at 2:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It seems that most of the high level items are pretty much the same. They are things that benefit ALL classes and are all/all usable, they are for specific classes and give bonuses that are exactly needed by that class or else they are for Types of classes (Fighters, Priests, Casters) and they give bonuses exactly tailored to those classes. Fighter items give STR, DEX, STA, HP, resists and AC. Priest items give WIS, Mana, HP, Resists and AC. Caster items give INT, Mana, HP, Resists and AC.
RE: High Level Items...
# Aug 02 2001 at 4:22 PM Rating: Decent
A lot of the high level items ARE the same, but this is GOOD. If a very few items were considerably better, everyone would fight and bicker over those few items. With have multiple options that have similar stats, it gives people the opportunity to pick items that fit their character from a roleplaying perspective. This mask would be good (statistically) for a druid, but wouldn't it really be best for a troll shaman of Cazic-Thule? yep, that's right, EverQuest is a roleplaying game. And a good one, taboot. Want proof? Look for Sunaien Shadowfire on the Bristlebane server. My friends and I will show ya how it's done. ;)
Is there a story behind the name?
# Aug 02 2001 at 1:55 PM Rating: Good
Does anyone know a roleplay issue behind the dragon that drops this? In short, is there a reason for the name of it? Or did VI just run out of cool mask names?

Oh yes, nice mask.
