Lady Nev dropped two of these for us last night. One went to a warrior, and the other to a ranger. None of the druids in our guild bid. Why? Cloak of the Sky drops off of Eashan in NToV, he's a much easier mob to get to, and a much easier fight. It may not be quite as good, stat wise, as the cloak of thorns, but it has better mana, same wis. Druids get clicky thorns on Gloves of Earthcrafting. It was much nicer an upgrade for the people who got it than for any of the druids there. That's not saying that it's not still really nice for a druids.

#REDACTED, Posted: May 26 2003 at 2:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I play a level 64 Druid and a level 63 Warrior. While it would be a pretty decent item for my Druid, the Warrior would, by far, gain the most benefit from this item. Like some other folks have mentioned, if the Drood is getting pounded, the extra AC and HP provided by this cloak aren't going to save him very often.
NOT beastlord usable

Just killed her a few minutes ago and the cloak is WAR RNG DRU.
not for druids?
# Feb 04 2003 at 4:49 PM Rating: Decent
wtf are you talking about?

this is definatly an awesome druid cloak. the wis IS VERY NECCESARY. you can have up to 355wis now and the 50mana and resists are damn useful. ac is also useful for soloing when your charm or root breaks, or if the mob just catches up to you.

and ... you can have up to 305 in any stat, not 355.

You can have up to 305 in all the melee stats, however there is an aa that allows you to take your INT and WIS to 355.

a drood's wis should be at 255 by that point but any thing with a big jump in +mana after you get 200+ wis/int points is very necessary for castors.
Remember the wis/int to mana conversion changes above 200
This is a tank cloak
# Jul 21 2002 at 11:20 PM Rating: Default
This is definetely a tank cloak....at a druids level when they get to this point...wis should not even be a issue. It should be 255...case closed. I would much rather have a Hierophant cloak than this unless every tank has one.......... The effect is not really a issue. AC/STA/HPS...its a tank cloak..and if you think otherwise..your fooling yourself. If you get aggro...the HP gained by this cloak will not save you...take the fall and lose the 4% exp. Druids shouldnt draw aggro...if you do..your slackin or you got caught with your pants down.
RE: This is a tank cloak

okay but explain this then, my wis is EXACTLY 255 AND my resists are all around 115. how? misty thicket picknics and a LODI. guess what happens when i toss this cloak on...i get MORE MANA, why? well 255-10 (lodi) = 245 wis right? well i just lost some resists from droppin the lodi, so now i need Holy cakes instead (cheaper than mtp's i assure you) which cost me 5 more wis....245-5=240 this cloak gives me EXACTLY max wis at the same resists. one difference... now i dont die when i get just a little to close to the AoE and i have MORE MANA. Heiro cloak is great for a twink, but at end game velius i would much rather be max resist AND max wis ALL the time, and still be pimping more mana than a Heiro could ever give me. the AC is nice, the HP and Sta are nice...for ALL classes, but i assure you, this cloak has wis for a reason, and if you are a trying to tell me to sacrifice my resists for max wis when i can have both you are a ******. raiding isnt much fun when you die because your P/D resists are in the toilet, and who wants a caster not to have max wis? sure there are other routes, but too bad those arent the routes i took.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 04 2002 at 2:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No way in hell this should go to a druid...maybe a ranger if all warrios in guild have one..you talking aobut how druids need hp and ac if they get agro...believe me if a druid gets agro in ToV ... that 100 HP and 35 ac are not gonna save your ***.....you will die no matter what!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 13 2002 at 3:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After reading some of these posts i can't help but to laugh histerically at the people thinking a druid will ever get this cloak. Yes it has wisdom and mana; that does not in any way make it a druid cloak. there are MANY other cloaks that druids can get with the same amount of wisdom/mana.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 30 2002 at 2:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, it *IS* a druid cloak, but it also happens to be a warrior and ranger cloak also :)

I play a 60 druid on Mith Marr.

My guild are capable of doing NToV where this cloak drops.

Let's not forget that druids too need the hp if we get too much aggro from perhaps debuffing.
Our lvl 56 debuff build up so much aggro that the main tank have to stay alive, or i'm dead meat.

With that said, we do need the ac too.. my SkyShrine quest breastplate have 20 ac. TWENTY ac, even my weapon have more ac then my BP.

This is 35 ac.. damn uber for me at least.. I will much rather wear this then my Lodi shield.. why? because I will gain around 120 hp from this cloak, and you don't need the resists from lodi shield when you are raiding, there will be a bard playing AE resists, and dr00ds around to cast Circle of Seasons.

This cloak was made for these 3 classes for reasons, not because it was useless to one of the classes..

So this would 100% be a item I would wear if I had the chance

Bull? u don't know what this cloak is to warriors. I know u have joined FR lately, isn't it too early for u to complain about this cloak going to warriors first then rangers? Cloak of the sky is much better for u druids. u don't even have a clue how ntov loot table works and for AC matter a little extra ac for u druids aint gonna help when dragons and drakes hitting u for 300s
dont matter
# Apr 16 2002 at 11:38 AM Rating: Decent
yea this should definatly be lotto'd to the druids, why on earth would a warrior or any other melee type need a cloak with 35ac 12str 12dex 12sta and 100hp's
RE: dont matter
# Apr 19 2002 at 11:59 PM Rating: Default
lotto hahahahaha Sythrax is rigth guilds that are tov capable have a point system in wich the more raids you attend the more chances you have to get some of this stuff
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 20 2002 at 11:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Most the time raid leaders have a half a brain at lvl 55 + they are going to look at it and see its stats and lotto it to the right classes that best benifit from it Rangers/Driuds WILL be before warriors on this because of the wis and mana stats .

effect
# Jan 11 2002 at 5:35 PM Rating: Decent
Indeed one of my items I like the most because it has better stats than my Naturewalker BP.

The effect is a permanent 1 point damage shield but only works if you have already a damage shield cast on you. I never noticed if it also works as light source or not because I have two or three other light source items.

Nevederia drops it about every 2nd or 3rd time when killed.

# Apr 27 2002 at 6:19 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, it's an insta-cast 4 point damage shield that stacks with other damage shields. I love it :-D

Bah this may say it is a 55+ item but I dont see any 55+ person getting it without a full raid party then you only have a 1 in 20 chance of winning the roll as thier are at least that many rangers, druids and warriors on that raid. Nice item but I am not going after it till I have everything as high as I can get and it is just a minor upgrade.

I looked at ALL the posts and the ONLY one that talked about the effect said "the cloak serves as a light source, and the effect seems to be a full time 1 point damage shield. you dont click to activate it, its always on. ~Trillium Silveroak~." I dont think this is right b/c it says up top it is a click effect. Can someone help out with REAL info, thanks.

RE: Effect?!?!?
# Jan 11 2002 at 12:45 PM Rating: Default
Pretty sure that the effect is one point per damage shield that is on you, plus a one base. So a lvl 60 Ranger would get five from coat, four from call of earth and three from this item. If they got a damage shield, they would get another point from the cloak plus the damage from the DS.
RE: Effect?!?!?
# Jan 10 2002 at 6:28 PM Rating: Decent
While I've never noticed whether or not my cloak is a light source, I can vouch for the fact that Thorny Shield is a permanent 1 point damage shield that stacks with any and all other damage shields you may have in effect. Don't take this site too seriously when it is saying whether effects are permanent or triggered, it is very often incorrect.
RE: Effect?!?!?
# Jan 11 2002 at 6:53 AM Rating: Default
it's permanent, kinda....

It only takes effect if you have a dmg shield cast on you.

so Shield of Lava say will be 26 instead of 25
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 05 2001 at 3:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) finnaly the item at the very very very bottom of the page (aka the best of the cloaks/bps/1hsers/ ect) is ranger uasable wooot helo anyone of those classes can benefit nad if my guild ever had it drop if therwas a druid who wanted it then she/he could roll if itwas meant for a ranger it would say ranger only or druid only or war only see my point? altho then if a druid rolled then a sweet druid only item dropepd theyd be pretty pissed they couldnt roll cuz thye already did.... most of the druid in my guild would pass this to the war/anger altho i kno the rangers would roll i cna see how a wra benefits mroe fomr the ac (they r tanks they get hit why would they not benefit the most fomrthe ac???) but the rangers can use every stats here but then agian the druid coul use th15 wis to remove other wis gera and add reists gear... see u have the extreme of the ac side the tank needs it the most thne u have the middle the ranger whocan use every stats just not a certain stat that they excel at and then the other extreme a druid cna use all that wis but the ac is next to useless like the wis is next to useless for a war see my poin? DONT BITZ ABT SOMETHING YOU DONT HAVE CONTROL OVER! anyways if this item dropped i personaly as a ranger would like it alot BUT a wra could use the ac more (altho ide love toget my ac to 1k) and the effect he cant self cast like i could so ide let him roll and wait for a item that said THIS IS A RANGER ITEM AND IF YOU DONT ROLL AND YOUR A RANGER YOUR JUST PLAIN STUPID! and when that item comes around i am sure the warrior who i gave the cloak to would gladly let me loot you see if you are nice to ppl it will alwyas come back.....

Druids dont need AC?
# Sep 23 2001 at 9:46 AM Rating: Decent
After wis has been maxed, resists are up high, AC has got to be one of the best things for a druid. Yeah, sure warriors and reangers need it also, but it really wouldnt hurt to slap 35ac on a druid. With the 15 wis on this cloak, you can get some more resist gear on, or whatever stats you are weak on. 100hp will be gone in one hit at 55+ so it wouldnt do too much for you. On the other hand, 35 AC could actually do something to how you get attacked. The thorns effect is great for melee class, and this cloak has to be one of the best melee cloaks not only because of the AC but because of the effect on it. If you think 100hp is better than 35AC then you are wrong. This cloak is extremly versitle between those 3 classes that are able to use it.
RE: Druids dont need AC?
# Sep 27 2001 at 8:47 PM Rating: Default
Casters don't build up on HP gear towards the end of a game so they can take more melee hits. It's when they don't resist an AE spell 100% and need the extra HP to soak it up.

The effect is nice for melees, but honestly, I don't think a single melee would take an item because it'd add a whole one point of damage every time they got hit. It's the 35 AC that stands out on this cloak more than anything. Sure, it'd be nice for a druid, but if you're getting hit enough that you need more AC to avoid those hits, you'd better start rethinking your strategy or plan for a lot of corpse runs.
Not too much a druid item.
# Sep 15 2001 at 8:27 PM Rating: Excellent
As a druid, I'd actually prefer a Lozi Shield for my back slot. The 35 AC is nice, but it won't do jack to save a druid. The 100 HP is very nice, but it'd be better on a tank (should be resisting most spells anyway; Lozi has the resists for that on it), the 50 mana and 15 wisdom is nice, but, come on, wisdom isn't THAT hard to max, and you could get a Hiero/White Dragonscale Cloak a lot easier than this (Hiero is 4int/wis 75 mana, Dragon is 9 int/wis 75 mana [and 25sv cold]). So druids, you KNOW this will go to waste on you.

Let the rangers and warriors bicker over it -- we have items more suited for us out there, and they're easier to get at that.
