Well I dont normally post but I had to on this item. Its weight is a plus for any monk, plus with its agi it will increase a monks ac. Now would I just give it to a how many 15 wis items is out there. Now if it had a str boost............hmmmmmmmm a monk would get this hands down. Just my 2pp

Have you ever been on a single raid?? "hmmmmmmmm a monk would get this hands down" statements like this make me want to avoid alakazam. I know everyone was a newb once but you dont have to flaunt it

I think you misread his post, and by the rating a lot of other people did too. He was basically saying he wouldn't give it to a monk hands down, because of the wisdom on it and the lack of strength.

I love reading some of the nonsense on these boards...

A quote...

"AGI has nothing to do with evading attacks"

AGI has everything to do with AVOIDANCE...IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DAMAGE mitigation...AGI helps any class have a better chance of avoiding a hit...once hit AGI does nothing but a HIGH AGI can save you several blows in a fight...I have never seen an AGI item raise my AC and if it did it is STILL AC that makes the difference in how much damage you take from a blow...I also love the fact that basically any item that can be equiped by a monk the MONK immediately thinks it should go to them first...Here is the truth...any item that can be worn by multiple classes means that any class that can equip it should have an equal shot...If this item was meant only for monks it would be only equipablr for monks...Should a monk get a roll certainly since they can wear it...but should not get any EXTRA consideration because it has great AC 100HP and 15AGI...anymore than they should be excluded because it has 100MANA and 15WIS...
# Jul 30 2003 at 10:21 AM Rating: Excellent
In Reference to you have never seen AGI increase your ac, maybe you should stop calling peeps newbies... One day get a high level shaman to cast a AGI buff on you and watch your ac very closely before lower ac, after HIGHER ac

I just won this cloak today, one of the best in the game ( i'm a druid ) and it simply rocks.

Before this I was wearing a lodi shield, but Lodi shield doesn't have any mana nor hp on it.. That's my I looted this, I have 255 wisdom unbuffed so I did it for the mana, and the hp..

Not for the wisdom, not for the agi, not for the ac... purely for the hp and the mana .. 100 raw? that's better then some Vulak items..

Anyways, this cloak would suit any class that got it.. fits em all

Resting above that wis camp now I would love to have this. Eashens day is coming, and when it does I hope I have enough Raid credits to be in on this item to win it. I just know all those people who horde there Raid Credits in our guild are going to get this and not me.

This cloak is very good for monks, but if you're doing Eashen you're doing CT and possibly Statue of Rallos Zek.

I would pass on this to a cleric/shammie/druid without even blinking.

100 mana would be waste on a monk. 15 wis lets wis casters trade out wis gear for more mana/hp/ac/resist gear and survive longer.

Healers/Debuffers/Slowers with bigger mana pools and who live longer keep raids alive. Period.

While ac 25 and hp 100 is nice, you only gain 5 ac with this over the Cloak over Falling Stars. The Cloak of Falling Stars also has 7 MR, and you'll most likely not have nearly as much competition for it versus this cloak.

Cloak of the Fearsome is easily comparable. 10 less raw AC, but gain 15 sta (60 hps at level 60) in addition to the 100 hps.

So, given the broader selection of back items for monks (and the likelihood monks would get preference for Fearsome/Falling Stars) I would say this is best given to clerics, druids and shaman.

Of course, there are probably going to be some people who disagree. All I can say to those is get to the point of the game that you raid these mobs, then come back and tell us how you think it makes sense to give this to monks first.

The Lodizal shield belongs on Plate Melee classes.

why would you want your stats that high unbuffed??? thats what shammys are for. you can keep them at around 180's and trade out for way more ac/hp/sv gear.....

Funny how some people seem to think that every piece of gear that drops is best overall for them.
# Sep 25 2001 at 7:01 AM Rating: Excellent
Just to bring some credibility in the conversation.
1. I have one of these
2. I've seen Eashen die atleast 15 times dropping maybe 7 or 8 of these all in all

It's quite good for any of the classes really. Any monk claiming it's not good for other casters because Lodi shield is supposed to be good is an idiot. The person from Watchers claims that casters have so l33t stats already that they don't need this. I'm gonna say that maybe I'm just way over what you're used to then, because I don't do a goddamn thing with the idiot resists from Lodi shield. I have 239mr, 244fr, 220cr unbuffed (admittedly using the Lodi shield for those). What I do need is mana and hp and this gave +100 to BOTH. That is better than any Vulak item actually.

Still, it's quite good for monks. Our guild is bit beyond issues of 'who needs first' since we use dkp for everything except primal 1handers (who casters get after melee), but still... 0 of the 7 or so are on monks.

Weeeell.. Its BECAUSE you have over 200 wis that this is a nice item..

100 mana at lvl 50 is around 10 wis, and after 200 wis you need +mana items....

I do agree that its more use to a monk though :)
RE: f00ls. . .
# Sep 16 2001 at 4:05 AM Rating: Decent
Um I guess you really dont know what your talking about do you?

Does this cloak have anything on it that will help a monk aside from the 100hp??

As a cleric having 15wisdom on my back means I will be able to replace a few peices of armor for Higher AC armor and Resist gear, considering half the stuff I wear has around 5 and 7 wis, that means at least 2 peices. The 100mana and the 100HP are extreme bonus's

What this cloak means to me is I can switch out my Emerald Dragonscale BP to Donals or Templar BP and more then double my AC on my chest slot, and still have enough wisdom left over to switch out my leggings as well.

having a lot of wisdom condenced to one item gives you a lot more freedom with your other slots.

A monk at the lvl that this item is attainable is going to be doing a lot of dmg output and while this might make him last through another blast of the mob's AOE it would much better serve the Preists of a guild then the monks.

Ok, is it just me or are monks getting added to everything being dropped in TOV, just cause "it's definately made for a monk"? This item is great for any and all classes listed, myself, because I'm druid, would definately lean toward it going to a wis caster, Cleric first, Shammy, then Druid. Last on list would be Monk. I hate wasting stats and wasting the wis and mana on a monk really doesn't make any sense at all regardless of the haste issue.

P.S. And yes, I am definately getting really tired of all this "it's made for" crap.

I'm in agreement that Verant seems to be adding MNK to all 0.0 items these days. Really, a monk doesn't need the 100 mana bonus or the WIS bonus s/he would get from this. I bet there are better items out there for monks than taking this cloak from a caster type.

As far as Pally's getting this item: I can see where they'd feel snubbed, but there are so many more things out there for them. I think the 100 extra HP would be better placed on one of the 'squishier' classes. But who wouldn't want the 15 WIS?

Does anyone know if a copy of this cloak is made with the INT bonus instead? If so, I'd love to get our guild casters one of these - can't have them dying during a fight, these poor souls.

This is very nice for a wis class. Any of the priests would be happy to have this. If youre killing things in ToV with a guild, chances are the monks would have cloak of the fearsome from CT, i know most of my guild monks and warriors and rogues already have that cloak and we are working on getting the rest of the melee this cloak since it is one of the best cloaks for the melee class. Any monk stupid enough to take this over a wis caster is a greedy ******* and should be /guildremoved.

RE: wis caster item
# Aug 03 2001 at 1:08 AM Rating: Default
Man, I gotta agree with Palanka here. Your post is coming off pretty stupid.

Let's put things in perspective. My guildmate Teedraa, a L60 Druid has 244 WIS, with her base gear. For her to upgrade to that cloak, she would gain 2 ac, 5 WIS, 100 Mana, 100 HP, and lose 50 resists, and STR. She's not wearing any WIS jewerly. Her AC is about 1k.

You people are looking at things from a lower level perspective. 15 WIS doesn't mean a thing to the WIS casters that are killing this dragon. Full Nature Walker's, Epic, Belt of Dorf Slaying, Gloves of the Earthcrafter, and you're way over 200 WIS.

Again: People killing this dragon are WELL over 200 WIS already, so the +15 WIS doesn't mean a thing.

So you've got a cloak that's 25 AC, +100 Mana, +100 HP. (15 AGI doesn't matter to any class) Still a good caster cloak, but since the casters in question will mostly already have a Lodizal, the upgrade is negligible.

Re: the haste question, we'll be using a Cowl, or Grey Suede Boots.

Hey. You know Im a wisdom based castor and Notice alot of monks and meelee's get slammed for wanting items with Wis on it.
Lets face it. wt 0.0 ac 25 and 15 agil make this a GOD monk item.
Just because it can be utilized by a wis using class doesnt mean it's the sole property of said class.
Another thing to face is. What am I going to do with 15 agil? and by the time I could get this cloak. My ac isnt sufficiently close to dent a mobs chances of gouging my eyes out. even green mobs. And I have some serious high ac.

Lets put some items here for comparison. Say the monk has Cloak of the fearsome:
Wt 0.80. +15 AC, +15 Str, +15 Sta, +100 HP
And the wis caster has Lodizal Shell Shield:
Wt 5.00. +23 AC, +10 Str, -5 Agi, +10 Wis, +5 Cha, +10 vsMg, +20 vsFire, +20 vsCold
You think a monk that wants that upgrade instead of the wis caster should be guildremoved?? Wizard or not, I think you should be flamed for that. Same with the person who said they would leave their guild if it went to a monk instead of a wis caster. Sure, I think this item SHOULD go to a wis caster (because it's a nice upgrade for them, and because there's more nice monk gear in north ToV than there is wis caster from what I've seen), but this IS a nice upgrade for monks as well.

Btw, for those that think monks should wear haste of their backs, every monk on my server that has a chance of getting this item wears cowl of mortality as their haste item (head), and there are many other options for good non-cloak haste items.

Oh, and argfield, hundredfist does stack with all other types of haste.

it should go to a wisdom caster hands down...the lodizal shell shield, you will note, has no + mana. this does, quite a nice chunk, PLUS the 15 wisdom. + mana is a big deal once wisdom is maxxed, as im sure you know. The original poster was quite correct...this is a wisdom caster item and it should go to them.

And I'm not really prejudiced despite being a druid...I have about a one in billion chance of killing in ToV anytime in the next several months. This is just the opinion of a eq player.
Regarding Haste Stacking
# Jul 30 2001 at 9:49 AM Rating: Default

I am appalled at the misunderstandings about haste stacking. Basically there are two main kinds of haste that will stack with each other. First there is item haste of the type that is always on. Second, there is spell/song haste from a caster/bard or a proc/click effect on an item. The monk epic has a song type haste that is activated by clicking it. This haste effect has some other components besides the haste that DO stack with enchanter haste. BUT, the higher of the two haste effects (usually the enchanter haste) will overwrite the haste effect from clicking the monk epic. The most uber haste a monk can have solo is a high haste item (such as a dragon haste item) in the 35% to 41% haste range combined with the monk epic clickable effect. This may or may not achieve the fastest possible attack depending on what kind of weapon you are using and which theory you subscribe to. The highest haste a monk can have in a group is a high haste item plus an high level caster haste. This is the fastest a monk can be. Oops. I almost forgot that discipline that speeds up a monk (hundred fists?) that nobody likes to use because it sucks so bad compared to other disciplines. I THINK it stacks with both types of haste.

As much as I lust for this item (as a monk), it is obviously better suited for a wisdom based caster. Why would a monk want it? AC, agi, HP, and weight. Why should it go to a caster instead? Probably any monk high enough to have a shot at this item already has a nice haste item on their back. If they have a nice haste item on their waist instead (belt from Plane of Sky for example) or feet (suede boots), this cloak would become even more attractive to them, but still should go to a healer. As with all loot, it just depends on the circumstances. It is hard to say that a certain class should ALWAYS get a certain item. I THINK maybe there is at least one really nice monk cloak from ToV with similar AC, but I could be mistaken.

Level 51 Monk
Order of the Scattered Winds

P.S. By the way, don't be so hard on monks who pounce on an item, calling it a "monk item". Believe is or not, we usually know what we are talking about.
Who gets?
# Jul 30 2001 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
I think it'd go to whoever needed it most ;) If all the monks have excellent back gear, why would they take off haste to put this on? Their power lies in offense moreso than defense. Their survival depends on flying hands and feet.
# Jul 30 2001 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
Hasnt anyone noticed the weight on the items from ToV? Almost all of them are 0.0 weight. So lets get off the "its for monks" kick.

# Jul 30 2001 at 8:56 AM Rating: Default
Well any wis caster should get this for obvious reasons, with the mana they get 1 or 2 more heals in, which can mean life or death.

# Jul 29 2001 at 1:28 PM Rating: Decent
As a 52 Monk, I would rather see this go to a WIS caster, preferably Cleric. If they can utilize the extra AGI to evade attacks, and swap out some WIS gear for resist gear, they will stay alive longer....thus keep me healed! :) No, I do not own a CoF..or any other Back piece of note. Just my 2cp.

AGI has nothing to do with evading attacks.
All AGI does is give you a small ammount of AC.

This cloak would most probably go to a monk even though it has mana.
RE: Monk item?
# Jul 30 2001 at 10:28 AM Rating: Default
I thought AGI gave AC because it made you more agile and thus you could 'evade' the attackers easier. :) Not having to do with the evade skill, though. Just the reasoning for AGI giving you AC. That is probably what the original poster ment. Who knows, they may have actually ment that it makes the evade skill more effective. If that is the case, you are correct.

The RL makes all the loot rules. If the RL thinks this is a monk item, it'll frikking go to a monk. If he dosn't think it is, it frikking won't. Don't complain about loot you're never going to see or call it some 'class' loot.
RE: Monk item?
# Jul 30 2001 at 8:39 AM Rating: Decent
No, I cant think of one guild that would give this to a monk unless it was passed over by all wisdom casters. There is one maybe two cloaks out there for a wisdom caster that is better than this and when is the last time Harla Dar has been up? As a wisdom caster, if this was defaulted to a monk i would /guildremove.

Not every low wt item was made for a monk
# Jul 29 2001 at 11:27 AM Rating: Decent
Just my 2 cents if my guild ever got the power to play in ToV this would go to a wis caster not a monk. It is flat out made for those unfortunate incidences where you **** off the mob a little too much it has +15 agi for that nice dodge, +15 wis so you can swap those 2 velium jasper rings out for resist gear (or what ever hehe) and good ac to boot, if no wis caster was around, or they ceded to the monk then I would let the monk have. Despite what monks seem to think there are a pretty large number of good items that they can use on their back, and every where else for that matter. So stop whining about how every low wt nice item is made for you, until I see a monk that could use the almost 350 extra mana that this item would mean at the level this item is attainable my stance on it will stay the same. Oh and just as another note, most wis casters do not have that great of str so 0.0 wt would be great for them too.

first of all yes monks always need to work towards max haste and there is no way they can get it without ench haste so they always need better haste items *bump anonymous*. Now if you even see one of these items drops or get quested for you will and I repeat will have a better haste item then a cof. And third of all yes this is a hella nice monk item but its just as good for any of the other classes that can use it and I say this as a higher but not quite high level monk:P

Bah, don't want to get into the argument about who its for, but I do want to point out... monks live on haste, just cuz they got their epic does not mean they dont need haste items any longer (epic haste stacks with perm haste.) RE: Umm.. CoF
# Jul 28 2001 at 4:22 PM Rating: Decent
Lets say you're a monk with epic and you haven't touched a CoF yet and you won this. You have plenty of other options for another piece of item haste besides CoF. Worse comes to worse grab an fbss and be happy with that, but if you have a shot at it, Plane of Sky has some nice haste items that drop there, and even better haste items like belts that are quested that give 40% haste. Stack Epic haste and PoS quest haste belt, both being 40%, and you're as good as gold.
I've heard that haste doesn't matter much cause your delay can't go below 10, and I've heard delay can't go below 5. None of that matters much you're gonna own anyway, every group you're in during raids is most likely going to get all the exp cause you rock.
Final reference for haste stacking and then I'm out like a fat girl in dodge ball...
Monk epic=40%
PoS Quest belts=40%
Enchanter epic=66%
all three will stack at the same time, but like I said I hear your delay wont ever go below 5 or 10 anyway. Happy hunting all!

*edit* Hmm Going to agree with Palanka :) the chanter and monk epic hastes wont stack. My mistake.
RE: Umm.. CoF
# Jul 29 2001 at 3:35 PM Rating: Decent
Just a warning to people, don't trust all that you read on these posts as being true... the amount of outdated/wrong information is staggering. For example, you have to be very carefull when you talk about haste stacking. Sure, enchanter haste and the monk epic fist effect will stack (the non-haste components at least) but only the higher haste of the two (probably the enchanter haste) will make you attack faster. Here's a quick haste stacking primer. The only things that will make you attack faster are:
The highest spell type haste on you (includes activated effects and most bard songs)
The highest item haste worn
Stack with anything type haste boosts (only 2 I know of are a bard song that gives 5% more haste and the hundredfist monk discipline)

Palanka Wu

P.S. My understanding is that the "delay caps" were simply a result of limitations of weapon delay and haste, not a programmed in hard cap. I'm not very sure about this though.

Ok...CoF..AC 10! +9dex/agi +50 hp +15 vs fire. Now,I like the +9 dex for a monk.but also the +6 more agi and +15 ac! It could go to ANY of the 4 classes. Personally as a cleric,I'd hate to see it go to anyone besides me =P...but all 4 classes have a good use to it. Haste on CoF? If you get this cloak..chances are for monk you ALREADY have epic. So ya dont need CoF anymore. So the nice little ac boost makes it that much more like-able for a monk, though there ARE better cloaks (Cloak of Firestorm,AC 24 +15str/dex/stam/agi +100hp + 35 vs fire, haste. Shroud of Veeshan,AC 15 +8str/dex/sta/cha/agi +12int/wis +55hp +110mana) that could be (I'm guessin as easy as they are all 3 very hard to obtain) gotten.

Just my 2copper...
