Ten kills, one stick, and still no robe. This robe, and the stick (Abashi's Rod of Disempowerment) have to be the rarest two drops. The one item I really desire, and he refuses so to cough it up so far.
On the 7th Hammer at least, nobody raids this zone anymore. Not that I'm aware of anyway. My guild - largely adults with a lot of responsibilities and sometimes little playtime - is FINALLY getting ready to try raiding ToV. The uber guilds were there 2 1/2 years ago tho i'm afraid. You won't likely find a raid into ToV these days. Not to mention this drops off of Vulak`Aerr! The zone's biggest boss. If i'm not mistaken, VA is a very involved ring or event. Not something a "normal" guild can just walk in and do. This is the genuine article. A REAL raid.
3 hour ring event, and all the named in NToV need to be dead to even start it, or they will warp to Vulak after you spawn him and aid him.
So, no, it's not something you just walk in and get. This ring event was a seriously bad idea that was just to stop guilds from farming him when they were in Luclin content.
IMO they should change Vulak back to the way it was so that people that are actually in that content would raid him again. I doubt he's died to a raid in 2+ years on any server...
I see my mistake, thats an old post. I've matured alot since then. It would benifit necros as i said but it should not be awarded. It should be rolled among or bid upon by dkp by all the classes that can and would use it.

I was hoping to see a post date of like 2001 to maybe vinicate this childish posting. but alas, may of 2004. *shakes head*
Im trying to not fall over laughing...necro's benefit the most? LOLOL If this was going to stand out as undoubtely the best for necros it would read CHA: -25 and Regen+3. And a lv 65 necro with thier highest lich spell--FT3 isnt gonna make a sqawt of difference.
Necro's mana dump the clerics? At a rate of 3:1 which means your FT3 on a necro is like FT1 on a cleric. Give the cleric the FT3 item directly and you just profited your guild 2 mana/tick. LOL
This item is precisely balanced so that it favors no single class listed. If your guild dont let all classes listed roll for the item then you need to find a new guild.
I suggest you go back to playing WoW and leave the difficult games to the adults.
Nah, is ok, just by reading this person's comments its easy to tell that they are clueless.
Just by the comment "AWARDED" explains a lot. There are two kinds of guilds that "AWARD" loot. One is the kind that is so incredibly tough that they can rip through just about any raid encounter whenever they want. The other kind is one that would never be able to do an encounter like this.
Gear like this isn't given as a prize, it's earned. Whether through an established DKP system, or a time served and honest earning through countless disasters and triumphs.
I can tell you who deserves this robe... It says right next to the word "Class:"
Actually for your information Jackass (destef) FT3 does make a difference for necros. But yes in this case its not an item that would benefit necros only. All classes listed who can use the robe would benefit from it.
Any one of the classes listed would benefit the most. You kinda pick on the clerics though, and since that's what I play, that's what i'll respond to.
At higher lvls, a necro is capable of mana regen way beyond what a cleric is. Granted, clerics will almost always ask for a mod rod, but so will wizzies, mages, and enchanters. It just goes with the raiding perspective.
But I do agree, a badass robe for anybody that could possibly use it. Just can't single it down to saying that a necro should get this 6 out of 10 times. If it were up to me, I'd feed those clerics that are in DIRE need of FT gear. Just my 2cp.
Alwaysgets Slapped (long story behind the name) Archon on the 7th hammer server
The only way you could sell this would be on FV server. And if you could sell it there, there ARE comparable things you could buy. for instance, most ldon gear is droppable, so if you get the 1492 item, the ft2 chest item, and a couple of other augments...sure you lose 1 ft, but with the cash, you could buy stuff for other ft easily to make up for it...
Awesome drop, any toon that could wear this would love it, don;t think you could go wrong no matter who you gave it to.
Let's be real most guilds are revolving doors, with members staying 6 months before quiting EQ, or moving on to another guild. I am a rare person that has been in only 1 guild, and that because my RL friend founded it, and out of loyalty I would never leave. So giving to the one in the guild that could best use makes sense, but very often they end up leaving in a few months anyways, so sometimes that policy seems flawed. I would at least make sure you know the person is going to be around for a whle, because this baby is too good to give to a 1 week member
I find it funny that people get so irate about a virtual piece of equipment for what is realistically an imaginary being. I agree that people say some stupid things in their posts on this site, but krikey people...it's not a personal affront. Yes, this is an amazing piece of equipment, and yes any of the classes would benefit from the use of this. In my guild, if we were to get this, it would be awarded to the person who would benefit the most from it. That may sound stupid, but hey it works for us. For those that argue as to who should get this, let me just say this...it's not that big a deal...get over yourself...it's a game.
You know, if i went on a raid to ToV and this was just summarily handed to a cleric...as posted by Dred lord sem, i would be offended. Unless everyone had equivalent or better. Clerics might be a great healer....Druids have a CH spell, so do Shaman.....shall we summarily give this to them as well. I play a mage, and would gladly spend raid points to attempt to win this. Mod Rods, Pet weapons, Chain Nuking...so on so forth...yeah. and clerics (or whatever class it is you play and think most deserving because that's the class you play) shouldn't just be handed this. Everyone fights, No one Runs.... Everyone has right to attempt to win this. straight up. Period. Eborgann Stormaxe 62mage quellious
clerics (or whatever class it is you play and think most deserving because that's the class you play) shouldn't just be handed this.
Most guilds able to do the Vulak ring are on DKP like system and never assign loots apart from obvious ones (no BoC to a ranger - if a there is a war without one - for example)
apart from that, this robe is just a damn good item for any of the 5 classes listed on it, you can find worth for them as you can find better (check AHR's Robe of Secrets and Mail of Judgement if you cheap need examples)
Okay...I JUST made a new dark elf mage, and let me tell you, I believe that this robe should be rolled on by EVERYONE and there is no Best class for this! I understand, blah blah blah, cleric needs mana to heal, but guess what? Mod Rod, twitching Necros, C3, Flowing Thought! There are so many ways for you to get mana, and here are more heals than just CHeal numbskulls! Someone's on the brink of dieing you dont start casting complete heal, you use Greater Healing for 300 or another one of those real big heals ;). Go do the quest for the spell haste II item in PoK, decent wis/int on it and it goes on yer face! And another thing...just because Enchanters get most agro, it's their own fault! Time your casts, you're not getting hit so what's the rush to kill it so fast? Nail it with a Tash and a Slow, then sit back for a moment, watch, then do whatever you need to do after the warrior has completely gained agro. It ticks me off when I need to tell people how to play their characters, seeing as if you dont know how, play a different class. I have played every single class and I came up with the conclusion that I'd like Mage best, simply because of the decent nukes we get and a pet to go with it! Heh ever seen a pet in full plate armor? I didn't think so. Okay...now that I've ranted on every single little thing that anyone could say about this...
Well, I have to agree with the other replies to this comment. This guy has no clue what he is talking about, and certainly won't be in a raid for this any time soon.
Spell Haste 2. Worthless to anyone who would be raiding here.
Greater heal? My cleric hasn't used that in 30 levels.
Using mod rods for mana? You do know there is a recast timer on those, rather long one too! So I could hit a mod rod, and have enough mana for one more heal, not a lot of help in a 30 minute fight.
C3 (KEI) Most people raiding here are going to be using C5 for the better mana regen rate. This isn't the type of kill you stop off for KEI in PoK before doing. Even so, C5 won't give you enough mana by itself. You need as much FT, and your AA mental clarity, plus self mana regen buffs, AND BL crack, plus C5, to have enough regen for tough fights.
Also, twitching necros, and Mana tapping SKs are EXPECTED during major raid mobs, just to keep up with clerical mana drain. They don't substitute for FT, they add to it.
Certainly, all the listed classes would love ot have this, but if a guild decides to merit it to the clerics first, based on need, I certainly can see why.
Let me be one of the hundreds to read your post and quietly think " OMG SHUT THE HELL UP NOOB!! " that was one of the stupidest posts i have ever read , if you can raid ToV there is no way your guild is using a roll system for loot like this and second Spell haste II ? that is totally useless for all spells over lvl 40 ( not sure on lvl but i know its useless before 50 ) third chanters get aggro from slowing and Tashing, which is incredibly helpful on a raid, the chanter will eventually loose the aggro from all the nukes and spells now landing on the target , most of these would be fully or partially resisted without tash and Slowing saves lives by making the mob hit slower and by making it hit slower ,it saves the cleric mana for heals usually i try not to flame but for some reason that just pissed me off, one more thing if you have "played every class" like you said there is no way you played them past lvl 10 and if you have then its too bad youre still a newb that knows nothing of the classes he is posting about [ Flame Ends Here ]
no one big enough to do the ring of vulak has a need for spell haste II. they should be shot if the fine antique ring is better than their ring. twitching is a waste of a necro, and for a lot of ToV, CH **IS** the best heal. Looking at your posted magelo, you wont be seeing tov inside of three years. Slow causes aggro for the enchanters. Some people are stupid enough to believe they can play other classes, when they cant.
Hmm, ok...twitching is a waste of a necro......with lvl 65 in ToV it is a waste for sure, cause the fights won't last long enough that twitching is needed. But well, ToV was assigned for level 60. Maybe you should wait until you hit the elemental planes and think about it again.
designed, not assigned. where did I mention anything about 65, anywhere at all in my post? twitching is a waste in tov unless you are twitching buffers before you start, for ANY level that can reasonably raid it.
OMG, I am so glad someone else sees this. I always hated how some people only saw the necro as a mana battery, which is a waste.
I only play mana battery during buffing and CR's and that's it. During the actual fights, there is a lot better thing I can do with my mana then just give it to someone else.
Being a mana battery is far from being a waste. There are many fights that are marginal with clerics mana and the death of the mob for our guild. AoW for example demands that you keep the MA alive the whole fight. The last thing you want is for the AoW to turn around on you after he has just killed your MA and start after the clerics or anyone else for that matter while someone trys to gain agro.
All our clerics call out their mana as the fight progresses so that we know whether we will win or loose in any fight. If it is marginal, than to keep the MA up is ALLOT more important than the dmg that the necros do to a mob.
I also know where you are coming from in that you didn't make a necro to be a support system for another support system. Since when any necro get recognized for invisibily giving mana to a cleric? Only when it says "xyz has slain the avatar of war."
point number one, in my (somewhat limited) experience of endgame fighting, there arent to many rolls, there might ba a guild here or there that rolls on things like this but not too horribly many, most guilds are either on a points system or the guild leader/officers award based on what will help the guild more. ALL heals take mana, not just cheals and spell haste 2 only works on spells lvl 44 and below, excluding most heals in the acceptable lvl range anyway. i dont know how much this mob hits for but many endgame mobs melee about 1k+ a hit, i dont know if this applies to many prepop mobs or not but my point is, this thing hits hard and if the enchanter doesnt get it slowed fast one of the many healers spamming fast heals is gonna end up with agro. also i have given my lvl 52 mage's pet a full suit of plate so yes i have seen it and it dont look no different.
lets see newb...the reason chanters get agro ARE FROM tash and slow...so we spend the rest of the fight losing agro and keeping from taking any dmg...next time you try to catagorize a class then know of what you are speaking.

I say winn this becuase, it is very desirable by other classes::) But to kill the mob that drops this would be very worth it by its self!
Hmm suppose I should start up another flame thread on this, its about that time and I'm bored at work :P
Profound statement: Any guild raiding this beast would award this robe to a cleric EVERY SINGLE TIME without a shadow of a doubt. The reason being as we all know is that clerics ARE the raid, if your clerics have no mana or get sumonned and hit once and die in that one hit, your raid is dead. End of story. For that reason a simple caster such a wizzie or a necro like myself would never be awarded it as we are two a penny. It's true the other classes do the damage but the emphasis on the whole raid is always keep your MA up and your clerics healing, this robe would make a clerics effectiveness massively increase. Sadly any guild that awarded it to another class would not be thinking in the best interests of the guild as a whole.
As you say by yourself you post a flame. It can be read in three ways; 1) You mean it. 2) You don't mean it. 3) You mean nothing, just wanted to watch your flame grow for your personal taste. I'd bet on 3, since either 1 or 2 aint so promissing to lead to an interesting conclusion provided that excluding either clerics or int casters from the Vulak raid is not so interesting but rather dumb an idea.
I agree, and I'm posting one as well. People saying that clerics have to have this are idiots. Period. Case closed. Don't give me that "we need mana to keep you alive garbage...during a raid you have every imaginable buff, bard songs, mages pumping out rods, and necros twitching like an epileptic at a disco. Shut up and let the int casters enjoy their loot too.
Well I would definately like this item, but you are right a cleric needs it more. I'm not gonna complain. I wouldn't say we wizards are 2 a penny, I find it very difficult to find a group so I can get in on some decent loot. I don't really need to be in a group, solo is much more exp. I think wizards are only found to be valuable by the high level guilds (at least I hope so), cause we have those unresistable dragon and giant spells at 60. There are not to many wizards around I'll tell you that much. On my server you'll find most are level 55 but scaris on any other level above 40
Not trying to start a flame and im prob talking out my ***** but i think that the only way wizzies are good at high lvls would be if there was like 5 of them doing the high damage spells for what, like 2000 hp each. Arent most of the higher monsters like 100k hp?
Wizards a a valuable asset to a group. Ask any cleric whose mana is saved when a wizzy nukes and take a mob through the enraged stage to the run stage in a couple seconds, thereby saving the cleric a lot of mana. I have a cleric and a wiz and understand the value that a wizard plays. Also bear i mind that a wizard can do a lot more damage than most people think. If his highest damage spell does 2k of damage, that is not the extent of the damage he does. At level 56 I routinely do 6k worth of damage to every mob we fight in the PoN. Reconsider what you think of a wiz and maybe more of us could get into groups and more of you would survive.

#REDACTED,
Posted:May 02 2002 at 5:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, on a raid wouldn't there be a chanter there to give you thr=e crack? Especialy this robe, I vote that this should be roled on by the Enchanters only (Sorry Clerics). KEI is better then the effect, and this would stack w/ KEI, and the chanter mana regain would MASSIVLY increase... thus there would be more Haste to go around, and Tash, and a tash MUST be needed...
#REDACTED,
Posted:May 15 2002 at 7:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Epic = free haste, get lost newbie, all guilds of the caliber to take out Vulak, have epic chanters....it would be equally good for any of the listed classes, but as far as FT items go, If the clerics run out of mana, the raid ends due to lack of keeping the main tanks alive... if the int casters run oom it dont mean as much, you lose the tanks and everyone dies.
I am a cleric. If I have mana, you will stay alive. End of story.
This is best as a cleric item, but however I say all usable classes should roll just the same. Maybe the guild could even impose a rolling penalty based on their choice, say clerics roll 40 to 100, and the rest 0 100.
Among other things, how many clerics are needed in a CH cycle with this guy? I wold only dream to see this item, but it makes no difference to me. Its just a game you know =)
No single person would be rolling for this. GLs of guilds that have led a raid to kill Vulak *might* roll to see which GL gets to decide who will receive the robe but this robe and all other loot from Vulak is assigned or purchased with RP, period.
I am a necro. cleric runs out of mana who's giving that cleric mana? the necro.. necro's generate mana faster then anyone.. there's a valid "arguement" for any class that can wear this robe.. there is no better class to have this.. all are deserving..
True, if the cleric dies, the raid is over. Let's remember, however, that in a guild's raiding career, when the enchanter dies (i.e. when crowd control goes *poof*), the cleric is next in line on the aggro list of all those mezzed adds. AC on a chanter is not a bad thing at all.
