OK, something is not right with this. The effect is listed 'Sword of Runes' and the link corresponds to the spell that summons old school pet toys.

I'm under impression that these gloves provide a mana free DD spell. Which is it ?

If it's mana free DD then these are still worthwhile to go get (ANY free DD amount is greater than none, is why I say still worthwhile).
Should the effect be changed to
'Shock of Swords' ? (580pt. DD spell lvl 41)

Wilee

P.S. How in the world did you numbnuts change a post about some gloves into a rant/expose' about boots that invis and Summon Companion ? LOL

2 words SUMMON COMPANION!

You apparently don't know what your talking about either. If your pet is lost in a dungeon chances are he's aggroed on something. Summon companion will NOT work if he is aggroed.

Its called pathing, just cus pets are lost dosent mean its aggroed..and I think what he ment was that any smart pet user class would know to have summon companion ready just incase

Earthen Boots and These Boots
# Oct 03 2001 at 4:00 PM Rating: Decent
You can put Earthen Boots in your inventory slot, and make a hotkey of it. Simply right click it.
GUESS WHAT IVA DOES: It kills pet instantly no matter how far you are away from MOB. I still have no idea why all the mages I talk to have not done this quest. (It's a level 25-30 quest in SolA) Why would any mage wear these gloves? Look at the mana bonus. Most mages (even my human mage) has over 200int. Over 200int you only gain a small mana bonus per int point (about 1). The sta and the fact that it's weightless is only a bonus.
Are you sure the effect can only be used when worn? The earthen boots and many wands, mod rods, etc do not have to be worn to use their effects.
RE: Earthen Boots and These Boots

these gloves arnt entirelly useless, maybe when i go exping in the hole and i dont want to scribe my spell, i might use these, oh wait, the hole, by most of the char's lvl in getting these, isnt a good place to solo. i dont use my earthen boots anymore, they died out when i replaced them with coldain skin. if i use the effect, i lose mana when i do, well lets see here, if you want to gain mana, those boots are useless cause they kill the pet, and since they fixed the pet/mob agro you have nothing to worry about, easier to just summon companion and reclaim energy, as always, STFU if you dont know squat

These gloves kick ***. The 50 mana alone on them is nice, and sword of runes is better than no effect. All i want know is where do they drop. Could this be the other mage drop by Velk (if you notice, ever singe int caster gets 2 items from Velk that are class specific, and us mages only get 1?)
hmm
# Jul 25 2001 at 6:11 AM Rating: Decent
Kinda suck in comparison to the Boots (600DD) but 50 mana gloves are pretty nice. If he dropped both that would be nice :)

Heh, mages should know this
# Jul 22 2001 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
Mantria, you claim to play a mage, and if you are a mage you should know that Sword of Runes is not a DD. It summons a sword that procs a 75 damage spell against summoned creatures. These gloves do not cast a DD, they summon a magic wep, that other than the hole, or dueling another PC's or NPC's pet, are worthless. Dont get me wrong, the gloves arent too bad, +50 mana never hurt. Just thought id clarify =)

Since Luclin came out there are more summoned mobs in the game, making the swords more useful.

Also, is there not a range of levels where our pets dual wield only if they have two weapons? It's been a while so I'm sorry I don't remember what that level range is. That's when I got the most use out of the swords.

Have to wear to use
# Jul 20 2001 at 3:16 PM Rating: Decent
Just like the boots of bladecalling, the effect on these gloves can only be used if they are worn. I have no clue why any mage would actually wear these gloves though.
RE: Have to wear to use
# Jul 20 2001 at 3:57 PM Rating: Default
I think more logical items will show up in Luclin (spelling bah!). Kunark and Velious are meleers playgrounds. It'll be the fingerwigglers turn soon!
Quick Question
# Jul 20 2001 at 1:20 PM Rating: Decent
Do you have to wearing these to use the clickable effect? I know that for Jboots you can have them in your inventory and still work.

If you don't have to wear them to use the clickable effect, can a different class trigger them? It would be handy for sk's or necro's to give swords to their pets.

I know the answer is probably, 'NO', but I like to hope...
sigh...
# Jul 20 2001 at 6:25 AM Rating: Decent
It is sad that mages dont get more clickable items...

Droods get free Dot's off an item which can be had for 2-3k. we get a nice free 600 point dd which can be had for the small price of...oh wait, I forgot...gotta kill an uber mob in velks...

I think most of the tank classes out there have more clickable items than we do...

And when we do get clickable items, they summon swords, (when was the last time i summoned a sword...let alone a sword that VI nerfed.), bandages, oh and another item that summons bandages...Must be for those times when you are in battle and your tank is dying and he shouts out, "Quick whip me up some bandages!!!" cuz after the fight is over, there is no time to sit down, forget one spell, mem summon bandages, and then stand up and cast it. Oh...then sit back down, forget summon bandages, and re-mem your other spell.

Its like giving warriors a clickable item that has effect : Summon ring mail gloves. or Summon Bronze rapier...

What about right click scintilation, or instead of bandages, gift of xev?

The only useful items (besides boots of bladecalling) are the quest robes for the damage shield and the pants for burnout3. BUT that is only when soloing green dungeons and farming etc. Cuz in a serious situation, I am casting BO4 and most likely a group DS...

But fear not fellow mages. We do have at least 6 items which right click reclaim energy...

Hmmm. Maybe I should go post this on the gloves thread...

Don't forget these Uber-Boots!

Earthen Boots

Wt 2.00. +5 AC, +5 Sta, +15 HP, LORE MAGIC NODROP Effect: Invisibility versus Animals.

Why the heck they put IVA on a mage item I'll never know, but it has come in handy a few times on those rare Animal mobs that can see invis but not through IVA.
RE: Don't forget...
# Jul 23 2001 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
My mage is only level 14 but when I am totally out of mana having barely survived after my pet dies I would like to sit & med without some bear walking up, taking a swipe, and hearing a druid say, "It's mages like you...." Invis vs Animals mana free; I'll take it.
RE: Don't forget...
# Jul 20 2001 at 9:23 PM Rating: Default
Uhm unless you've played a Mage, which according to this uninformed post, you havn't. Earthen boots are a life saver for groups and mages no matter where you are.......Mage PETS go poof with ANY type of invis cast upon the pet owner. Thus these boots are perfect for any mage who wishes to ensure quick destruction of the wayward pet THUS saving their group from being trained.
BTW Give me a pair of gloves I can cast unlimited 600+dd for FREE and no mana cost I'd gladly take them. Was wondering casting time though, Sord of Runes has either a 6 second or 8 second casting time. do these gloves have that too?

<rolls of floor laughing>
sword of ruins? a 600 point dd? a 53 mage that doesnt even know that the 600 point dd is named Shock of Swords, not Sword of Ruins? im gonna laugh when you get these, start to solo something, then try and nuke it with the gloves..and just end up with a sword in yer inventory on your corpse
RE: Don't forget...
# Jul 22 2001 at 3:49 PM Rating: Decent
Two points in response to your post...I don't need to be a mage to know that you would be dumb to use an invis to nix the pet instead of Reclaim Energy to regain at least some of the mana (which as someone else pointed out is on no less than 6 mage items, 4 of which are the focus items that most mages can get pretty early on)...second, who cares about the recast time on Sword of Runes? I doubt there will ever be more than a handful of times you will ever need to cast it in a hurry in the midst of a pitched battle. And if you did, you summon a sword, cast a dd or ds, summon a sword, cast another dd or whatever, summon a sword, etc...

To others though who are saying "why bother, that's lame, only summons a sword"...ok, so granted, not a great effect, but hell, if it saves you mana, use it! You don't have to wear the gloves ALL the time, just put them on, summon a couple of swords for your pets, or melee types on corpse runs if you are bored and sitting around the gate, whatever...would I go out of my way to buy or hunt for these gloves if I were a mage? LOL!! Not likely, though 5int and 50mana is nothing to sneeze at! (Especially given that Sable Jaune didn't bother to state where these drop or from what)
RE: Don't forget...
# Aug 21 2001 at 9:28 AM Rating: Decent
Thing with the boots is if the pet is out of spell casting range I can still invis my self to poof it.
RE: Don't forget...
# Aug 17 2001 at 10:21 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, you do need to play a mage to know. You ever lost a pet? You ever played a pet class? If you did, you would know that if you lost a pet in a dungeon, you CANNOT use your reclaim energy items because the pet is out of range.
RE: Don't forget...
# Aug 19 2001 at 9:27 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah I gotta add that too, mages always keep some sort of invis thing around, well most mages except me, cuz I never bothered to quest for these and prefer my GEBs but I still used to have invis the spell permanently up and now have summon companion in its place... These are a lifesaver and its usually not the mage that they save, (Earthen boots I mean)
RE: sigh...
# Jul 20 2001 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
Hmm a Cliackable 600 DD, well as a Shaman I had to dish out 20K for my Bracer that only does 263, so I imagine if said item was droppable the post would be WHY should I have to pay 80K for a 600 DD item? Get a clue.. these DD Items are powerful.. As for RClick items.. Well, tanks don't have spells.. And the large part of the RClick effects from Kunark are *in Cartman voice* Weak. Especially the Crap Buffs Shamans get. But in all honesty, Tanks get no stats out of Cobalt armor etc, they get little mini spells like Shrink. Caster Gear has, say it with me.. Stuff casters can Use.. IE Mana, and Int.. Maybe some saves here and there. Just my 2 cents.

Warriors come one come all. whit this spiffy litle gadjet you shal never look for your epic again hell if it was pissible idd trow at monsters whit this in my inventory. and for those of us who dont have an epic. its nice to always have a weapon waiting for us at bank no matter how much time you die on corpse run.

And the fact that Swords of Runes, as with all other Mage-summoned items that I know of, are No Rent? Meaning if you leave one in your bank thinking you'll be all money for the corpse run, guess what donkey...nada. Would be nice though, these summoned blades are not all that shabby in terms of stats.

Gotta kill Velketor, of the labyrinth of his name, to see these. They've been dropping for awhile, and am surprised to see they took this long to creep into the database.

Level 63 and estimated hp at 100k.

Since no one has asked yet, anyone know where these are from? Please don't just say "it must be from the temple of veeshan," (unless you happen to know that's where they're from). Thanks.
