I'm not understanding the logic behind this effect. Why would a shield from Paineel have enduring breath on it? It's not exactly "Waterworld" there. Sometimes I wonder about the effects on items.
From what I understand of the history of Paineel and the Hole, in a desperate measure to prevent the minions of the Plane of Underfoot from destroying all of the Erudites, Dartain, a powerful Erudite heretic, and his compatriots flooded the breach (perhaps to prevent fire elementals from crossing the breach?). He used this shield to breath underwater and continue his work to seal the breach in the Living Wall of Stone (the barrier between Norrath and the Plane of Underfoot). He was successful but at a pyrrhic cost; he and all his friends were trapped on the Underfoot side of the breach. All but Dartain were slain by the elementals whose vital essence managed to escape but whose mortal remains were forever lost in the Plane of Underfoot.
Came Upon this since I've been huntin the Hole lately and just wanna say, thanks for the awesome explanation. I will definitely roll on this if no one needs in the group i'm in. My SK would love to bash with it.

What I want to know is, who does it drop off in the hole? I should head there and get one..nice ac and str, good for my sk, and enduring breath..good for my cleric about to start his epic and for kedge raids :)
Actually SK only Ashenbone shield from hate is rib cage in inv, but looks alot like a Cracked darkwood when equipped. Oh, and the general in Kith drops it Ashenbone also, hehe. Was very disappointed to see it wasnt the same graphic as that warrior shield from Fear(which is the rib cage look equipped), lets hope this new shield does.
