Just curious; for an uber ranger, who thinks this would be a good primary wit Tolan's Longsword in the offhand?

it would be crap cuz you would get your *** kicked on raids due to the hughe aggro on that weapon, it's only supposed to be used by warriors really
RE: Wondrin'....
# Mar 16 2003 at 10:23 PM Rating: Default
What are you? Like level 3? This is a straight DD proc. It's the least aggro your gonna get from a proc. Hell, my Warrior already has a 160 point DD proc and I have never done NToV. This is great for a non-tank class because it has an excellent ratio and a low aggro proc on it. This is awesome for a Ranger. Hell, as a Warrior I wouldn't touch this because it doesn't generate enough aggro.

Well, 2 points...
1) Tolans Longsword is now Primary only, so scratch that thought.
2) Rangers already get a 65DD + stun (not counting the new PoP proc buffs) which drawns a lot more aggro that straight up 100DD.
... Jolt instantly drops 500 hate. This weapon is no Blade of Carnage. If the MA + me jolting can keep the aggro with me weilding a skyfire doing the multi-proc insanity spam (proc is a mage aoe rain) in Kael, a NToV ready warrior can manage fighting the agro of this weapon IMHO.

FoH's decision
# Jul 17 2001 at 5:34 PM Rating: Decent
Hello all,

Ok, let me see if I have read these posts correctly. FoH raided ToV and took down a high level dragon, a dragon that took 2 days to kill. for there efforts they got the dagger Mrylokars dagger and some other loot. when they got the dagger it was a 12 16 weapon with a lifetap proc. So they decided to post there new item that they worked so hard for, and a few people decided to whine about this weapon for whatever reason they have weather they felt it would unbalance the game or it was item envy. After this whining VI decided to nerf the dagger and becuase of this nerf FoH has decided to no longer post any of the loot they get, so as to not allow others to whine abou it and have there loot nerfed on them. Am I right so far?

Ok now heres my 2cp about this. you may not agree with this all but it's just what I have noticed.

FoH basically sets the standards for all the uber guilds like Afterlife and the such (not to implie that they do exactly as FoH does or copie them). Now becuase of this there is a high chance that other uber guilds might decide to follow this idea to protect themselves as well. Definently a smart move considering all the work put into these raids. Now if these guilds do decided not to post there new info that leaves all the rest of us in the dark. So your fellow players are getting the rough end of the stick, great eh? Now for the finger pointing. from what I can tell blame lies not only on VI for nerfing the item and inadvertently caussing this change, but to the whiners who complained to VI for what ever reason. To both VI and the whiners, Thank You, for ******** the rest of us over = ). Im sure VI was doing this in the best of interest of the game: however, if they changed it because of these whiners, thats just wrong!

Now Furor, I applaud you on your decision to no longer post your new info, it is in the best interest of you and your guild. And congratulations to you all in your future raids and I hope this dosn't happen again.

2 days learning the mob would be a small amount of time for some mobs...so 2 days to kill the first time isn't that bad. and i beleve it took em a month or 2 to kill vulak the first time, pls correct if im wrong tho, not entirely sure. also 14 mins isn't that long considering some of the luclin fights (which can be in excess of 30 mins).

First of all, I think that for the weilders, it's not only that their once stellar dagger is now useless to them, but more that something as dramatic as this could happen because of the nosiness and whining of someone not even on the same server; not taking any part in the kill; not having known any of the involved parties; not related in any way. This isn't an FoH thing, nor is it an Afterlife thing, or a Ruluvien thing. This is a comment on a larger scale of social dynamics and politics in EQ. I know this topic may be getting old at this point, but when things like this happen, it may seem overly dramatic to say this, it worries a lot of the EQ community. What could be next?
Second of all:-P A smart rogue, in a smart group, which is what you've got to be if you've attained this weapon, has ways of controlling agro. Mostly depends on meticulous timing, whether it be timing of attacks, spells, skills, etc. If it all comes together, yay!:-P
But, yeah. I'm not too sure what a looser is, but if it's anything like a loser, then yeah. I most definitely am one of those:-P
Be safe, y'all.

You can go to either http://foh.noows.com or to http://www.noows.com. You need to register to post on their boards, and have access to email, forums, etc.
Again, if you want to help with the dagger petition thing, it's Ruluvien the Rogue.

On FoH site there are only a few of the Vulak loots; names/stats/anything. If you go to the page for Vulak'Aerr attached to this site, on Illia's Bestiary, I've posted all the loots found from him on all servers so far (which only includes Mithaniel Marr and Veeshan at this point). Just names...

Be safe, everyone.

I'm sorry but you kill the head of SoV your going to get a NICE item, not like something not far from a fine steal dagger *I know its not near it but you know my point* I just think thats BS...sorry if anyone thinks otherwise..but if it happend to you, you would be VERY upset.

Bixie Sky Blade
# Jul 12 2001 at 1:16 AM Rating: Good
When the Bixie Sky Blade first dropped, it was 2 damage 6 delay. I support Furor not wanting to publicly release stats anymore. The paladin Orthanos on Sol Ro who got it could have easily just went on with his life with his uber little 1h slasher, but instead sent in the stats.

This blade was then nerfed after being brought to the public's eye. If you think about it, the blade was so rare that only 2 had dropped in the year after the plane of sky was implemented. This was not something that would upset game balance, as so little of them would exist that no one could be affected by it just like the myrokar's dagger.

This happens way to much that n00bs get item envy and ruin the fun of others because someone else is better than they are.

Mrylokar's has been nerfed...

Mrylokar's WAS one of the most damaging weapons discovered in the game when it was 12/16. However, enough people complained about its power being so immense that it would make the game unbalanced, they changed it to 11/17 with no AC and cut the proc to 1/4 its previous damage. Only ONE(1) of these daggers had been discovered by ONE(1) guild on ONE(1) server, and a cry of jealousy from someone who will never get one persuaded VI to nerf a beautiful weapon, which finally fulfilled risk/reward. The effort it took to get the dagger, and a few other items people complained about, is greater than any single achievement possibly in EQ to date. Quick run-down of what it took...
~70 of the most elite players in the game of EQ across all servers. ~50 of whom are from FoH. Every single one was level 60.
The mob that dropped this is guarded by 12, yes 12 LINKED dragons. These are North ToV dragons. The entire Northern area must be cleared to attempt this. Their fastest run was no less than 2 days. The fight with Vulak, the Lord of the Claws of Veeshan, lasted 14 minutes. Doesn't sound like a long time, but put it into context. One monster, 70 of the best equipped most experienced players all applying insane amounts of damage per second, with perfected technique. 12 groups, one mob. Warders in Sleeper's Tomb can be downed easily by one group of good players in a half-*** effort. They drop Primal weapons, sometimes as many in one kill to outfit the entire group.
Vulak drops only 3 items per kill. One person got a 12/16 10AC 100lifetap proc dagger with stats. One person in possession of what is in the long run really not much more than a token of what might be the cumulation of years of hard work and practice. This one dagger is not going throw off balance of the game. 3 of these daggers could not possibly do that. At a very maximum 2 damage per second gain over 13/20 primal, not counting the proc, the rogue would deal a very rough 1600 more damage throughout that fight, which is about... ~.2% of this mob's total HP. That's 1/500th of the mob's total hp throughout 14 minutes, and that's at best.
I'm sorry I'm rambling... Just trying to explain that FoH didn't have to release the stats on their most uber equipment yet. No one would ever have known about Hobart's Helm of War, Mrylokar's Dagger of Blood, or Crystasia's Crystal Ring, and nothing would have been nerfed. It may be hard to believe that a change like that can come about because of one or two letters from players even on different servers, but it happens, and has happened. Furor of FoH has vowed never to release equipment stats again because of this. What else could he do to protect his players from having taken away from them what's finally justified materially all their work and effort?
Neither the rogue that weilds this weapon, nor the enchantress who wears a 60AC +25all flowing thought robe will be able to solo anything they couldn't before. I guess I'm asking for us all to think about it, instead of whining when we see something we can't have. Perhaps I missed the discussion forum already on this topic. I apologize if that's the case. Anyway, please respond... Be safe, y'all. Leave some time for RL, although not too much:)
PS. Visit SafeHouse and FoH message boards to follow this discussion more closely and read about it more firsthand.
PPS. Afterlife has recently killed Vulak as well.:)

Beautiful I couldn't have put it in better words. I can say I know how it would feel to have any of my items nerfed. but I will say this I wouldn't be very happy about it. I would also say it may have not been anyone complaining about the item either. It could have been VI doing alone. Just a thought and my 2cp.
RE: Mrylokar's has been nerfed...

Point blank...

VI needs to make new ways of nerfing. Reguarless what they make, they need to keep it under control. Pre-Kunark, a warrior walking around in full Indocolite, CoF, and carrying a Bloodfire was considered godly. The thought of even seeing Plane of Air was unheard of, much less clearing it (which if i recall, still hasn't been). Those were the days when it was simple. When 50 levels and planar items was as good as it gets. Now, all these things are considered newbie loot. We break PoG down to mere shrubs and broken sticks and 60% of the loot that drops is left to rot.

PoH (even the new one) is about as worthless. Yay if your an iksar or yay we smacked down Inny (again) is about as fun as it gets in PoH anymore. Theres no loot left there. Kunark has basically VP left for amusement. Velious has alot of fun places left although they too will be like pre-Kunark and Kunark. It comes down to the items. When VI keeps mass producing these items, they're going to take the fun out of the old areas. They make "fun=loot". If you have a well equipped guild where nothing is useful in a certain area, do they ever raid it? No, of course not. Do you camp befallen at 55? No. Do you do the Stein of Maggok quest anymore? No. Why? Because theres nothing in it for you, unless you are REALLY bored.

Even nice sceenic places like Western Wastes gets a little old. Unfortunately, your 30th time to WW dose make the novelty of killing dragons... old. Expecially when the idea is to clear it which involves a good portion of the day.

When they figure out a way to stop making EQ a loot game, it will be a truely awesome RPG. *coughRPGcough*

RE: Mrylokar's has been nerfed...

I orginally complained about the amount of No Drop items out there. I now see my err, I also see a lot of problems arrising from the amount of people who think like I did. Mrylokar's dager is a prime example. The person who complained is most likely someone who is used to getting his way, a whiner, a complaing prick. Someone who found that when he started playing everquest that he couldnt get his way, he couldnt edit a charcter file to get items, he couldn't enter a cheat to get unlimited money. So now he looks on Allakhazam's and sees that wow there are nice items out ther that i will never have, why should other people get them if I can't. I've seen people train spectres to the docks in oasis because their lowbie charcter can't find any crocs to kill. It is this kind of behavior that is related to spoiled warped brats, and if your a spoiled rotten brat, eat sh%t and die.

It took them two days to do this raid? That is an insane amout of time not to mention the planning and organizing that came before the raid. Then they were rewarded by having their equipment nerfed?! That is total crap. I read these posts almost every day at work, and half this stuff wouldnt be worth 2+ days of my life to get. Not to mention that the stuff that you get that is worth it runs the chance of getting changed on you. VI should be a bit nicer to their vetern players as these are the ones who have paid the most into their business and are most likely to contiue to pay and buy expansions.

Well, I'm still holding out hope it was a database error or something. It's not totally far fetched - all the items in North ToV were upgraded (or almost all). The now-crappy stats of Mryklokar's dagger would probably be about right for its pre-upgrade stats. Maybe someone was just taking a look at it to see what the fuss was about and accidentally reverted it. That's what I'm hoping, anyhow.

Things like that leave me in a position of utter contempt. Only problem is I am not sure which person I find more disgustiong... Verant Interactive? Or the sniveling whining prick who threw a tantrum over how it ruined game balance. What a freaking joke.

For those of you who intend to do that way think before you throw your tantrum. Your concern may seem great in theory to you but items such as these are far more difficult to acquire than the quest for all of the epic weapons is (perspectively). You honestly have my vote for person who absolutely sucks.

Don't be so sure, check out these two items :

Mrylokar's Dagger of Blood
Scepter of destruction

Both are same dmg, and almost the same delay ( one is 16 and one is 18 ), and both have effects that may or may not be better than this one.

Anyway these 3 are sure wins as the best piercing, 1H blunt and 1H slash that can be dual wielded.
They are easily better than any epic quest, which they should be since they are a lot harder to get, and if you don't want to die A LOT, you shoudln't use them unless you are warrior who can take the dmg all the aggroing will get you.

It is irrelevant how long it took them to clear the Tomb and loot the dagger. It makes it sound like there has to be a guarantee affixed to each new area with a set rate of return. Weapon was changed,it is still great, get over it.Yes if it was my weapon I would get over it. This is a game not life. Please see if you still have one.

It's hard to say. Scepter is 12/18 with a 250ish proc (Anarchy?), and Kreizenn's flame is 12/17 with a 100ish proc. A lot may depend on how resistable the different procs are; the fire based proc of Kreizenn's may give it a slight edge, though, even though it's lower damage - less likely to be resisted.
