dont do this quest. you can easily get better items to put in your range slot. besides its a junky weap anyway.
Yes, I suppose you could equip it in the range slot, and get 1 free ac point....but you do so at the cost of carrying around 7.0 stone more weight. I guess it's up to you, whether that's worth it or not.

true, this isnt a good weapon but the quest for it does raise necro guild faction which isnt that common to get

WHats up with the stats.Why waste Bone chips when you can turn them in for exp.I mean the guy in Field of bone give you silver and exp for 4 bone chips.This one gives you a cheap weapon that takes alot of cash to do.=)(=

Turn in 4 bone chips to trooper mozo at the FoB gates and you will get a few silver, some Exp, and faction.
