Was here for my part of my ranger epic in E. Karana and he got us just after the dark elf corruptor and reavers were taken down. "Rain of Karana" was the only loot he had on him.
So yes it still drops :D

Just killed him. Took a long time to solo him as I was low on mana when he jumped me, but was able to root and dot him to death. Did drop the rain of karana. EK seemed odd though. Lots of Hill Giants, would kill one and the one would pop within a minute.

Just wondering but can this be MQed?
Looted one earlier and was wondering if I could MQ it for a mage in the guild, who wasn't on when Tarbul spawned.

I killed him today (4-11-05) and he did drop the Rain of Karana. I am a 55 Druid, and the fight wasnt too hard. He did take more than my entire mana pool (3575), but if you snare him, you can run away and med up a little. Alone he took me about 5 - 7 minutes. (Broon decided to jump into the middle of the fight, so I just HAD to exlode him.) He also dropped about 35pp. I didnt know what he was for, just getting a little revenge for when I was just a little druid-lett and he would chase me out of the zone (hehe). But unless you are going after him for the epic piece, he isnt really worth going after. Hope this helps anyone ^_^

Took out Tarbul 12-17-2004 at 7:27 am est on brell server 51 mage and 51 druid and a 47 cleric a little over kill tho but friends helped took him down in about 2 minutes maybe less

is this still dropped - I haven't seen hill giants in ek for afew days now.....
Dropped today, October 14 2004. Unfortunately I was alone in the zone. Tarbul jumped me while I was farming tradeskill supplies... Oh, HG's are still there too.

Also very late, but just to keep everyone updated, I killed Tarbul Earthstrider today (with the help of a very kind troubadour!) and Rain of Karana dropped. Unfortunately, no mages in zone. Anyway, as of July 11, 2004, it does still drop! Paragrine

A bit late on the reply, but wanted to add that I killed him last night and he dropped Rain of Karana. Luckily there was a mage in the zone so it didn't go to waste. About 20 seconds later I saw another HG, so they still definitely roam EK. It's been my experience that HGs only show up in daylight.
I have read in the past that killing a rogue lion has something to do with his spawning. I killed a rogue lion during the "night" immediately preceding his appearance the following "morning" so there may be something to this. It may also be coincidence.
For those who care about such things, he was light blue to me and an easy kill. I had no resists with the following strategy:
65 Necro, 63 Pet (rogue)
Pulled with Devouring Darkness
Pet
Invoke Fear
Funeral Pyre
Refeared
Redarked
I didn't really need to do the last dark, but since I hadn't ever taken him on before I decided to be conservative.
