i consider myself a little lucky. i was wanderin around out in OT, decided to sell and see what else the merchant had. it had a pair of these on it and only for about 5gp.. of course i bought them.
i just bought a pair on bertoxx yesterday for 100pp (were bein sold for 150pp but i made a gamblein deal with the owner) so how can they be either no drop or no rent? this is kinda odd, did they happen to be nerfed? well nm they got better cause theyre drop now, but good for those monks that have a little less weight than they can have
I thought I would make a useful post about this armor. Keep in mind that this is my experience, and may be different from what you personally have seen. Here goes...
Gnomeskin gloves and bracers drop on the 1st floor.
Gnomeskin Tunics, boots and legs drop on the 3rd floor.
Gnomeskin Sleeves drop on the 5th floor.
I dont really count the other peices (the ones that dont show, because this armor is pretty terrible besides the all black look).
I have seen that the other peices of gnomeskin drop on the 5th floor as well, but more rarely than the sleeves.
Here's an example. I went on a key raid to the tower of frozen shadow, and on the first floor, gloves and bracers dropped like mad, with a few other peices. No gnomeskin dropped on the 2nd floor. On the 3rd floor, tunics, legs and boots dropped like crazy, with a few extra peices. On the 4th floor, we got no gnomeskin armor. On the 5th floor, we got sleeves 3 times, and 1 tunic and 1 pair of legs.
The raid ended there, so I dont know about the higher floors. I'll let you know, we have keys to the next level, but everyone was falling asleep. =)
I have been working on the first floor of ToFS for a few nights trying to help a friend get some gnome skin. We have found at least one pair of gnome skin sleeves dropped by one of the spectres and we have also looted gnome skin gloves and a few gnome skin skullcaps. All from the first floor only. The sleeves were dropped a few days ago, just before they fixed them, so we are looking forward to a pair that we can keep.
So what I am saying is, for those of you coming to ToFS to get your long awaited gnome skin sleeves, they DO drop on the first floor.
This item has been fixed. I want one I have all the other visible gnome skin for my druid and am currently wearing Giant Scalemail Arm (dark green, almost black unless you have high gamma settings) Got the idea from a high level druid friend of mine and we seem to have started a trend on Rodcet Nife as we are now seeing tons of druids buying and wearing full sets (minus the arms of course)
picked some up last night in tofs (6/6/01) didnt really need em, just wanted to see if they REALLY were no rent....well they were gone this morning so i guess they are. hopefully it will be fixed in an upcoming patch
Someone has some serious issues here...have you thought about Psychotherapy teqtoo?
Back to the item... Verant has made some data entry errors on items before. Making them lore when they shouldn't be (Ivy Bracers when first introduced come to mind) and even having one paladin sword be an artifact when it shouldn't have been.
Just send in a bug report and let them know about the error and they'll fix it eventually.
You wouldn't happen to know a cheap Psychotherapist would you?
hehe, I've been looking for these arms for a while now, and thought it kinda odd I didn't ever see them for sale or anyone respond to my requests in Faymart or EC-bay.
Finding out they were no-rent just kinda tickled me.
1.) Community development through the interaction of all levels of characters fighting over the orc spawn for leather armor.
2.) Complete class balance in one easy nerf. 'dude. you sure got crappy amour for a 60 WAR. Is that banded?' /duel
3.) Increase length of each playing session. THIS is just what the doctor ordered for all us EQ addicts. Now we will have been FORCED to quit our jobs, leave our mates, disavow any RL association we have PLUS find a place to live that supplies electricity, an internet connection, and food (with alcohol preferably) all for free.
I can see it now...
'Naggy raid tonight! Don't forget to log on 7 hours early to pick up your armor, resist gear a MUST'
all this just to keep our gear.
I will conceed the point, that the NO RENT items only disapper if you're logged out longer than 30 minutes. HOORAY!! There IS light at the end of this tunnel!!
All we have to do now, to be totally controlled by Verant, is change our already ruined sleeping habits. This is Verant's idea to help all of us sleep deprived addicts, they CARE for our well-being! They KNOW we must stay healthy to live longer, to pay them longer, to play this game. And we can all see by looking at our fancy 'sit in front of the computer all day every day' physiques that Verant is only looking out FOR US! So they've created NO RENT armor to help. This is how: We all know the benefits of powernaps. So we just get rid of that miserable 4 to 6 hours of continuous sleep we were already getting, and substitute it with twenty-four 15min powernaps. Pretty soon we'll have it down to where we won't even LOG off to do this!
And while were at it. Maybe all items should be NO RENT. Even epics. And maybe they could bring back the days of the 400 hour Faydedar spawn. Maybe make ALL spawns uber rare. That way when that orc spawned in Gfay, it would be mob rushed, KSed, and ninja looted for the leather cap. These are our favorite aspects of the game anyway.
And to top it all off, make coins NO RENT too. In fact make experience NO RENT.
Total balance. Even the playing field. Make us all healthier with powernaps.

but I think you're overreacting. There's a much easier way to deal with no rent armor ... I can see it now - 300 people /afk in the EC tunnel (what a field day for Slate), 250 /afk all over the platforms in Kelethin (you think it's tough to get around now!), 150 /afk on the dock in Oasis (150 dead after someone trains Cazel ;P ) and 150 /afk on the ramp in Halas (sweet! max out that mammoth spawn rate)
