Since I'm already going to be in Droga working on my Di'zok faction, I'm going to get one of these to give my pet for pvp. I am going to love seeing the look on people's face to see them geting rooted by an epic pet.
If you really want a weapon that procs a root spell, go get an Ebony Bladed Sword. They have 24 delay 7 damage, weigh less at 2.5, and they're not lore either! They also begin to proc at level 24 or so, and the root is a druid root, so it does some nice direct damage to boot. At level 41, my Ebony Bladed Swords will do around 51 damage per root. At level 24 I think they only did around 24ish damage, but that was a long time ago and I can't really remember.
Basically, if you're hunting in this dungeon and you happen to get one of these... well... have fun with it. However, if you're actively *seeking* a weapon that's halfway functional, go out looking for an Ebony Bladed Sword (or two).
Just one Ranger's perspective on this (and for that matter the Ebony Bladed Sword as well). In a group situation, the Ranger's role is generally puller/secondary tank/snarer (runner control). That is assuming there is a primary tank. I know - we all know this. And I assume we all know just how vitally important runner control really is. It's an object lesson we all learn at some point...
I guess my point is that it's damn frightening to rely on a weapon proc to do your job for you. They are just way to unreliable. Especially given the fact that you have the spells to do the job, and do it right.
I know that if I was in that group, it'd worry me. Again, this is just one Ranger's opinion.

True - this isn't exaclty a wonderful weapon, and withthe proc effect above level 29 (when a ranger can cast root) it seems to be somewhat silly to have it. HOWEVER, if you want to build Piercing skill this is a very nice weapon. Low damage, low delay = many many many strikes at a target I.E. many possible jumps in skill. If I had one I would definatly use it for that. Better yet - snare/fear an animal and us it (unless it procs). Should allow a ton of easy practice
Well, i didn't wanna pay for a weapon to practice my piercing skill, so i just went to Splitpaw and slaughtered them until they dropped 2 fine steel daggers for me (among 2 backpacks full of other assorted FS weapons)....
And as you said, low damage and low delay is best, the FS daggers are 3dmg 19dly, dual wieldable... so far that's the best and least expensive way i've found out to train piercing skill.
To practice 2HS, get an Axe of IronBack, 16/37, it's not too damaging, yet relatively fast for a 2HS weapon. I just hot key my weapons so when the mob is about to run, but still snared (not rooted), just get behind him (so the riposte doesn't hit you) and keep slashing away.
Be warned though... with my sucky skill(well skill of 3 is pretty lousy eh?) at 2HS it took me 2 mins of slashing (or missing, for that matter) to finally kill the mob. And of course i had to Invigor myself at the end of the battle.
Sigh... Young rangers, heed this advice, practice other skills other than 1HS, at least one other, the best to go for i would suggest 2HS, for those times where the mob is damage shielded and you don't wanna kill yourself whacking him, or if your dual wield generates more aggro than the warrior (i know i always do), and since you don't have Jolt yet, slower, heavier damage is kinda better for aggro control.
nice name and all but the only thing good is the proc. And about the proc srry i dunt know:( i dunt have one. But i would only want it if nobody would want it. Hmm i dunno pc on a bi girdle but i think this is better.
I traded a Blackened Iron girdle for one of this Item... I thought i got the low end of the deal till I saw the pricing on some of the other sights. But when does it proc? I am 29 now and I havent noticed it got off.. This and the ebony blade make a good combanation for those "running" mobs..
