AC not useless for all classes
# Jan 16 2003 at 8:35 PM Rating: Decent
I just got this neck on a raid and as a Solo heavy Beastlord I find ac>hps, with self buffs I can max my sta easy and have descent hps but when I solo if i have 3khps or 5khps it makes no difference if I get damaged more means more downtime is all so ac helps much more than hps. At my current level 62 where I solo I melee mob about 75%-100% after pull, using chloro as I melee when i get under 75%, at 100% mana/hps I usually use bout 20% of each and with c3 and my fungi staff can replinish it in bout 1-2min and go pull again. BUT as for raids YES hps>ac for sure.
Maybe BST is the only class that solo's much post 60 I am not sure as its my only post 60 char but AC very important to the Solo'n Beastlord.

Woot

Woot I found a nice collar for my doggeeee, Bc no meele in their right mind would use this garbage for a necklace.

I agree with all the previous posters, Hp and Stamina (to a lesser extent) are VERY important to meele players at this encounter level.

In short: Ac is nice for Sebilis, but it doesn't do jack versus AE spells.
AC?
# May 26 2002 at 4:58 PM Rating: Default
Funny you all say its so good AC on it
most melees I know dont even look at the AC on an item, they look first for Hitpoints - none
second they look for stamina - none
later, resists come- good resists, but resists vs Dragons dont do that much. Sure, if you have no resists, you eat every wave for full.. if you have 255 resist, you eat one for full, the next for 20%. Hitpoints are far more important
Why disappointing?

You might be interested to know this is considered crap loot from these mobs. The mobs in ToVN drop some hot gear and this doesn't compare to the rest of it. Nice? Yes. Read my post next time Sarmaldor. Often posters here don't do that.

I said this didn't compare to the difficulty. Spend ten minutes looking up the other drops from the same mob and others around it and you'll see that this is a trinket compared to the rest.

Better than plenty of gear that drops outside of there however.

Darby, people highly value resist once they get their primary stat to 200+. However it's usually fire/cold/magic that people are moreso concerned with. Most of the saves in TOV are vs those stats.

Disappointing?
# Aug 31 2001 at 5:41 AM Rating: Decent
Hmm, not sure why this loot is disappointing...

25AC is very good on a neck piece, and the fact it beats any other listed neck piece by 10MR... well I find it hard to believe that people killing mobs in ToV would not value resists. I have three bags devoted to resist, and look to add more to it everyday.

Random or fixed?
# Aug 17 2001 at 9:38 AM Rating: Decent
Could anyone post if this is dropped randomly or fixed.

I love the posts here...."this item is disappointing"......I've hunted here with my lvl 60 wiz before he retired and now I'll be back with my lvl 56 warrior this weekend for the first time. Granted the zone is hard, but its hard to imagine a better reward for the difficulty. Hell, I think the stats are inflated but I'll take it. I mean just because you knock off a few lvl 60+ mobs doesnt entitle everyone on the server to have an AC of 9 billion, HP's topping 32K, endless mana, etc.

Anyway, its enough to say I think this is would be ample reward for at least the testing halls, name or otherwise. Again, if anyone knows if this is random or only on one mob, could you just add it above please.

Fixed. From Lord Fleshak in the Forbidden Halls (North Wing) of ToV. Pretty nice neck item, I love mine.
Nice Neck
# Jul 14 2001 at 2:36 AM Rating: Default
25 AC...simply amazing. All you who think this isn't a good neck need to wake up and realize that AC is god, stats don't mean jack. So its not good for casters, its still a darn nice neck for any tank type and with 0.0 weight its equally good for monks.
Disappointing

I can only hope this is for some quest. Otherwise this reward does not equate to the level of difficult of ToV.
Off Feshlak, I think

Yeah, it's disappointing, but so are a lot of drops there right now. I would be surprised if any of the things there are quest items currently - I think they're all just loot, just with a ton of junk.

Course, Lady Mirenilla takes the cake in terms of crap drops for her difficulty. There's nothing she drops that could really be considered 'good', and most things she drops are outright laughable. At least Sontalak is good for a sleeper's key.

Maybe a quest item, some of them do have stats, though at your level you know that <grin>

80% of ToV's drops do not equate to the difficulty of the zone.

True. But the quest armor drops are very nice. Completely random, but with a tendancy to drop leather/chair bits. The most disappointing part of this zone is that it's very buggy with at least 3 lost corpses per night. GMs are never bored when there's a raid in ToV.
