Vol. 9 No. 3

~ Attacks on Freeport ~

A number of high-way man
style attacks have been
carried out by the Dark
Elves on the citizens of
Freeport. These marauders,
believed to be from the
outlying areas in the
Commonlands and from the
forest of Nektulos have
been robbing and murdering
anyone that they see.
Residents of Freeport are
advised to avoid traveling
if possible and use caution
when they must use the
roads. The Freeport guards

are doing what they can to
protect the citizens,
however, these attacks have
targeted them as well, and
citizens are being asked to
be wary while the guard
organizes the city's
defenses.

Tarn, a Dwarven merchant
with a shop in the
Commonlands, has this to
say of these recent
developments:

"By Brell's beard, it was
bad news. I was opening up
me shop one morning and I
heard a ruckus, shouting
and clanging and the lot.
So I stuck my noggin
outside to have m'self a
look and wouldn't you know,
those despicable inkies

were after us! I seen 'em
out there, maybe ten,
fifteen of 'em all armed t'
the teeth with savage looks
in 'eir eyes. Was a
horrible sight, and me,
well, I knew better than to
hang around and let some
inkie stick a sword in me
rump. No sir, I'm not too
proud to say that I closed
up shop right quick and
took t' the city. Not all
did like me though, I'm
afraid."

"I hear old Garen the
innkeeper wasn't so lucky.
His inn got torched! All
tha' fine ale he had
stashed away, burned to the
ground and gone, jus' like
that! They should order
all Freeport residents back

behind the gates if'n you
ask me, no sense in hanging
out there and getting
butchered by the inkies."

Rumor has it that the
Paladins from the Temple of
Marr will be forming up to
put an end to these
attacks, but we were unable
to verify this story. We
have also not heard the
official statement from the
Freeport Militia. We will
let you know as soon as
more information is
available.

~ Irongut Reigning Champion
at Ale Drinking Contest ~

For the fifth straight
year, Slaxe Irongut wins
the "How much ale can you

drink in one gulp" contest,
held annually in one of the
Kaladim Taverns. This year
it was hosted by Grim
Brightforge's Ale Keg,
which is widely known for
serving the finest ale in
the Butcherblock Mountains.
Irongut was unable to
communicate with more than
grunts and gestures
following the contest, but
we were able to catch up
with one of the other
contestants, Gorlith
Stonebeard.

"Man, that Irongut always
wins this 'ere competition.
I dunno how 'e does it.
It's madness I tell yas.
The old dwarf gulped down
three o' Grim's biggest
mugs at once! I ain' ne'er

see tha' a'fore in me 'ole
life! Ah well, there's
always next year, aye?
Well, back t' me ale before
someone drinks 'er!"
